Frenchy's durability

Justin and I were talking in the press box tonight about Kevin St. Pierre's playing time of late. His thought was that Kevin Kurk needs some playing time, and my thought is that as long as Frenchy wants to play he plays. Justin wonders what happens if Frenchy gets hurt. My thought is they are dead at that point anyway so why worry about it?

I'm also thinking that lately Frenchy has not faced that heavy of a workload. Sure, he's starting in his eighth straight game tonight, but during the first seven, he's only faced 150 shots, giving up only 13 goals, and halfway though the game tonight the Generals have only got seven. Flint just had its best scoring chance so far on a two-on-one and he stoned them and made it look actually pretty easy.

So, what do you think? I mean besides the fact that Justin has absolutely no leg to stand on.

Skate we are going to have to agree to disagree on this one. I doubt that their reasons for fighting were to please the fans. Of course they loved the ovation they got after a fight but if you have played the game at a competitive level you know that during the course of the game you don't have time to worry about the fans. If a player is thinking about the fans his head isn't where it needs to be. Did they acknowledge the cheers sometimes? Sure.
But their reasons for starting fights had nothing to do with the fans.
I have often wondered, why does a guy have to fight in order to please Fort Wayne fans? Wayne Gretzky would have been run out of town under that pressure.
I guess it is like any other sport in that fans want different things.
Take baseball, some fans enjoy a 10-8 home run fest while others prefer a 2-1 pitchers dual.
Football some would like to see a guy throw for 400 yards while others would rather watch the running of Barry Sanders as much as possible.
Or like Nascar where some only watch for the crashes.
Some hockey fans are displeased if they go to a game and a fight doesn't happen. Some love to see a 7-6 scoring fest. Personally I like a hard hitting 2-1 type game and yes I don't mind seeing a good scrap now and then. I do not enjoy going to a hockey game and seeing a goon fest where there is no flow to the game because after every whistle there is pushing, shoving etc. To each their own. That is the great thing about sports, everyone can find something they enjoy.

Back on the original topic...who should start in goal tonight?

I will be at game 6 of the Windsor/Plymouth OHL playoff game tonight cheering on the Spitfires. Hopefully the K's will pull out the 2 points tonight.

Just for sake of the discussion on here:

A) Wasn't it earlier this year that we read an article about Lance Galbraith and Tyler Willis basically staging a fight to give the fans something to cheer about at a K-Zoo game earlier this year. They are friends by the way.

B) I didn't start the whole Domber thing to turn this into a "fighting is more important than hockey debate." I just think when you take a run at a guy earlier in the season as Domber did at Stewart and knocked him out of a game, and Stewart wants to fight you and chases you all over the ice all night long, and Domber runs and hides and doesn't stand up to it, it is pretty wimpy in the overall picture of the situation in that game. He could of fought him and it wouldn't have changed the result to the game at all. That's all.

C) The reason it has been a topic so much this year with this team and us fans, is that overall this is how things have been. The Komets for the most part have played this non-physical style and non-fighting style all year that leads to 3/4 of this years home games to be snoozers! That is why there is such an out-cry. I want them to win first, but some entertainment and excitement would be nice, too. That is all guys are wanting on here.

No big deal either way. But, Domber had his chance to redeem himself tonight, and ran once again. At least he took my advice on one thing, shaving off that mop of a beard that made him look like a toughguy, now he looks more like he should.
