Mike my comments were generalize and not directed soley at your post.. I feel like the motivation factor comes from coaching. I'm not placing all of this at Al's feet.. but I think he had more veteran leadership in the past 3 years to help motivate young guys and get them to buy into the system. This year he's relying on some vets that are not as vocal as the ones who left.. at least that my take.

JM: I hear you. Motivation is a huge part of the game. Unfortunately that is why some of these guys are playing in Fort Wayne. They haven't been able to find that little extra to push them the rest of the way.
In some of Blake's early articles some of the guys couldn't wait to fill that leadership role. They must step up.
Further, I hope you are correct and this is the problem. Because it will be easier to fix than blowing the thing up.

I agree a lot, and disagree a little. I think we've hit this topic before, so I'm not trying to open a can of worms, but at this point it seems to look to me like the younger players are the ones playing with fire, and the older ones are those who are more lackadaisical. The reward for the young guys playing balls-out while they are on the ice? Getting cut to keep the older fan favorites on the team. I have no problem with recognizing players who have sacrificed great deals of things for the team. Give them a banner or some other type of recognition around the Coliseum. I just do not buy into the whole "stick with what got you here" mentality. Where is here? People need to step back and look at that for a moment. People aren't looking at "here", they are looking at "there", as in the past, last year, the year before that, and the year before that. Those cups are in the past and they do not even exist anymore.
As said above, Guy is not the loud boisterous voice that is going to take command and wreck people who are out of line. I think he's just too nice. Don't get me wrong, he might raise his voice or get on people's cases from time to time, I just don't think he's the type to do it on a consistent basis to fix the problems. Then again, I'm not at practice and in the locker room, so who knows? That's just what I've heard from those who have worked with Guy, so I guess it's hearsay. I think we are all just frustrated and hoping to find answers somewhere.

I would like to personally extend my thanks to Blake, Mark21, Jack, JungleMonkey, Andrea, and GameMisconduct for helping me with my "where is Kory Karlander" question. I do appreciate your quick responses.

I want to let MightBite know that I am glad that Mrs. MightBite is doing well and to extend my most heartfelt "get well soon" wishes to her.

After reading the comments from David Franke regarding the status of Colin Chaulk, I have to agree with those who have commented above. The language used was carefully parsed and, while it made no promises, sure seemed to leave the possibility open for a return.

My question yesterday about Kory karlander was asked because I believe the K's need a "Colin Chaulk" type player. Karlander was one whom I've always thought would do well in a K's uniform and displayed many of the same on ice and off ice skills as Colin Chaulk.

It was good to hear from Mike in Toronto. Glad you are staying in touch with the K's through this blog and our comments. Things are a little rough here right now as losing can become a self-fulfilling prophecy as the harder they try the worse things become. I posted yesterday that the K's are just a player or two away. I don't think a massive overhaul is the answer. Four of the next five games are at home and I think this period of games will be crucial. My guess would be if they could win three of those five games it would give mgmt, coaches, and players some relief and time.

One more thing. There is no doubt that all of us would love to see Colin Chaulk back in a K's uniform. My thinking is this, however. I want what is best for Colin Chaulk and his family. If that would be to stay in Italy, fine. If that would mean a return to Fort Wayne, fine.

Hopefully this will work out where everyone is happy.

Blake, I read your "rules" quite carefully and I did not see where writing "books" was listed. I guess this entry is safe until the rules get revised. lol.

Who came up with these rules Hawthore?

NAIF is king of the blog, I think he/she predicted the points last week right on, shows you how much I know about hockey.

I'll have one of my attorneys get with your attorneys and we'll both be out thousands of dollars to add an S and remove a comma to this list of rules.

This post is copyrighted 2010 by Burgee, use of my material in this post is strictly your own problem, I wouldn't use it.

Wendy, sorry....I tried to post once and was outwitted.....I liked your blog, though!!

Most of my posts are meaningless, so mine will surely be deleted. Nice chatting with you all.

I think the K's can turn it around with the team we have....we'll be fine.....I continue to be positive and have faith. :)

See you guys this weekend!

BB, your posts arent meaningless.... Keep them coming, we all see the game a lil differently and its fun to discuss the differences!

The talent on this team is there, thats not in dispute; but are they willing to pay the price it takes to get the little things done on the ice that together contribute in a major way to scoring goals? I hope so!

The Komets will win Friday. Saturday... eh... Good luck, guys. You're gonna need it.

Thanks BLB. I know one had to sign up there to leave comments. Truth is, there wasn't much to comment on. I do have the new blog, but as you know, it isn't about the K's or hockey. As for your posts, they're fine. You never step out of line. Not anymore.

Looks like I missed the fun.
This team will make the playoffs. If it takes a coaching change and a complete roster makeover to do it then that is what they will do.

Komets have a 51% chance of winning Friday but will lose Saturday. IMO.
