The Komets are 8-3-4 over their last 15 games, but that's not been good enough to help them climb in the standings.
``Until we start winning in this building, we're not really going to make any imprint on the standings,'' Komets coach Al Sims said. ``We've got to start doing it here. Winning on the road is great, but if you lose at home you're not making any gains.''
The crazy thing is that the Komets have won four straight road games. The home fans are obviously showing their impatience.
``These guys have all played in this building for three or four years some of them,'' Sims said. ``That's not an excuse. We have the best crowds, the best building and there's no excuse for our team to come up with some wins against teams we know we can beat. We beat this team twice, and we need to beat them at home.''

I buy season tickets to watch the Komets play hockey and to guarantee that I sit in my favorite seats around mostly decent people....some aren't, but oh well.
I pay the money knowing what I get.
If you feel you need them to give you more than that.....
That is a "you" problem in my opinion.
If season ticket sales drop in the future, then I am sure they will find neat and attractive ways to get people to buy tickets.
That is just the way it is.
If they (The Komet Org.) feel like they owe it to season ticket holders to say thank you to them for being loyal and supporting their product with promotions and pats on the back...more power to them, and it just puts icing on the cake.
Just give me entertaining hockey and no BS.....LOL.
BS not = to Super Fan in this case. LOL
And thanks for taking me off the "list" Blakester. Gheesh. LOL
When was the last time you bought tickets to a Komets game, Blake? :)
"stuff that"? Somebody took the Bears loss a little harsh.
Ok... someone shed a light on my darkness.
What was taken away? The schedule I saw said there was STH exchange nights??
My question too Mr. Snuff.
But I we are about done with the ST stuff after this year if the Komet Organization doesn't shape up and make it a little more affordable, and give us a little more perks. Of course it was not even addressed in the letter we received about what happens to the money if/when the Komets don't make the playoffs. I won't be paying my money until we break past last place. And I am sure I won't be the only one.
In previous years for season exchange night you could exchange your tickets for an equal level ticket. This year however, it was announced (right before the season started and most everyone had already paid) that you could only exchange for 600 level tickets. They gave a BS excuse about there not being enough lower level tickets available for the once a year fans. That was an issue a total of 1 time last season and it was the very last exchange night of the year
It's all about the Benjamins.
It's depressing to see what perks other teams season ticket get while we get...a ticket to the game. It would be nice if the season ticket holders actually were treated like the team cared about them..They can't even give all the season ticket holders a stupid bobblehead. Off the top of my head I remember KZoo STH receiving a replica championship ring when they won the cup...Think Fort Wayne would ever do something like that? Ha
We all know what we're signing up for tho so we can't complain..not like it would change anything anyways
Interesting info.
Is it at all possible the league dictated these changes? I happen to know they cracked down on some other things that used to go on. Anyone notice alot of Larrys funny sound clips are no longer being played? Other forced changes too. Not saying that was the case here. Just food for thought. It may be they caught heck that one time last year and decided not to go through it again.
Quad City gives away Jerseys.
I have seen alot of minor league teams give Jerseys to season ticket holders for just placing their orders and paying their invoice....
JR had a list one time on here of the promotions that other teams did for their season ticket holders. Stuff that was pretty cool.
We did get to stand in line for over and hour to get 71% of a bobblehead......and 71% of that bobblehead was HEAD.
Didn't have to be season ticket holder to get one however.
I agree in some respects....it would be nice to feel loved from the organization every now and again....
But I will take entertaining hockey over everything else any day!!!
Please mandate that the Komets play hard, take the body, protect their teammates, play with passion, and I will pretend that I am getting some incredible perk in return....
LOL
Other teams have ST exchange night the way we used to so I'm going to have to say no to that one. Doesn't really affect me too much since I haven't missed a game all year but I still think it's a crap move, especially with the timing of the announcement. Larry still plays the clips when the Komets play actually warrant them. Just the other night we had 3 blind mice...
My name is LARRY...
MY name is LARRY...
LOL
Even funnier is hearing my 3 year old say it.....LOL
I agree Hit, I don't expect a golden toilet but some token of appreciation every now and again would be nice. When was the last time the STH even got a thank you?
I forgot about the double dose of "My name is Laaaaaaarry"
He wasn't even allowed to play that in the IHL2 because it "specifically targeted an individual player"
They used to announce the attendance and also plug the amount of season ticket holders too.
Do they even do the season ticket holder of the game give-away thing anymore....
The only time I won it......you guys are gonna laugh....I got a PC Drouin package of his insurance giveaways including an autographed picture of him, I think a ink pen, and a coffee mug.....LOL
It was awesome!!! 71% of me had goosebumps!!!
Now that you mention it, I don't remember hearing the season ticket holder of the game but that could easily just be getting lost in everything else Larry has to say. I've never won it but ive seen some of the giveaways for it...My favorite was the empty lunch bag from Prairie Farm Dairy. The PC package is also a great one
You know, now that you mention it, they don't have the STH of the game anymore...or the guess the final score thing anymore, since someone actually won that last year.
I think that being valued as a STH I would really appreciate discounted parking, since we come to EVERY game, and pay $4 to park. I am surprised that hasn't increased...but I won't be surprised if it's $5 next year.
Shhhhhhhhhh!!!!!
Don't give them any ideas....sheesh.!!!! LOL
I buy tickets all the time, just not for myself.
So, OK, from a business standpoint... the issue is that if you do season ticket exchange this year, you are given tickets in the upper deck, correct? So the old way, you got tickets in or near your section, right? So basically, the team lost out on that deal because it was giving away prime seats for free essentially. They had already sold them, and they were not used when they were purchased for, and then they were giving away other seats in prime areas for free with no benefit to themselves. Instead, now they can sell seats in those areas for full price. Sounds like the old way was just bad business. They should give away prime seating, seating that is not previously sold to STH but to walk-up fans who were paying full price, for free?
When's the last time season-ticket prices went up? Didn't they hold the line the last three years?
The economy has dictated the ST prices the last few years, nothing else....
If the K's continue to take perks away, then I think they will see the fans start to take away thier money. They seem to operate too much on blind faith when it comes to thier season ticket base.
One way to make the STH's happy and compromise on this exchange issue would be to put a cap on how many tickets you can turn in for each exchange game.
I also wonder how much of this displeasure comes from the fact that the exchange got limited to a certain seating area or the timing of the announcement? Personally, I think the timing would have irked me more than the limitations for the exchange....
BTW, I like the 600 level.... I dont think its so bad up there. Less BS to deal with than down below and nobody goes running to the redcoats if a few expletives accidentally fly...lol
The best part was... it wasn't the individual STH's that were trading in 25 tickets at a time. It was the corporate sponsors that never use their seats, then take the entire company to exchange night. You know the ones.... standing in the aisle lost during the game. Getting up to pee while Schrock is on a breakaway.. Spilling beer on your coat as they try to manuver down the aisle... The kid is screaming about cotton candy and Icy the Duck... Those lovely individuals...
Whatever. Next year I'll resort to using Marathon cards and buy a couple of those flex tickets packages they always offer around Christmas. I did the math and if I went to every game in the same manner I do now, working those deals would net me about a 22% savings over Season Tix..
Shaf might be old and a lot of you are making fun of him. I do believe that if the man can still pass and put the puck in the net like he could we need him. We dont score and IMO are second and third lines have failed to do much in weeks. I think Shaf might be a good answer to our problems. We need a skilled player like chalk that can score. The kids havent done much. We need to forget about age and look at production. This is the list of people I would get rid of. 1.) Curo 2.) Rodger 3.) Danko. That is weird. I thought Warner would be my first choice. Rodger has replaced him as my first choice. At least Warner can score a little bit along with his mistakes. Rodger isnt a scorer!
My season tickets went up this year. They dont treat us right. We have to stand in line to get a bobble head. Why cant they give all the season tickets one. I along with everybody else pays over a thousand dollars for two seats. That is a lot of money for me and I am sure a lot of people. We buy those instead of doing other stuff. Why cant they give us a parking pass? I know they dont get parking money but they could work something out with the MC. Give us a jersey or a shirt. That cost wouldnt kill them. The thing that makes everybody mad is they are making money. That is good because they are suppose to. They just dont want to give anything back to us. A end of the year party which is a joke isnt enough. The thing is we on the blog arent the only people mad about how they are treating us. I know a lot of people that quit buying season tickets this year. I stopped buying 4 seats for my buisness. You need to treat your season ticket holders like they are important and mean something to you. I would do a lot for them. I would want more people to become season ticket holders. This is just IMO.
I quit buying season tickets because they treat it as they're doing me a favor instead of I'm doing them a favor. Always bad business no matter how you spin it.
Shaf is going to be the next komets coach very soon. :-)
I will never get season tickets for the Komets, mainly because I can always sit within 3 rows of the same seat for any game as long as I get the ticket early enough. There aren't enough perks for me to drop 600 bucks in one go just to sit in the same seat every night. Upper 211 between row 17 and 20. Never fails.
On the season ticket exchange nights: sure, the Komets can do whatever they want. However a little notice on changes would be nice. This thing came to the STH's knowledge AFTER they had ponied up their money.
I don't buy into the "lost income theory". They had the same policy for years and it afforded STH's to bring people to the games, hopefully inspire them to attend future games and thus "advertise" for new patrons.
"Let the buyer beware". I know I will be in the future. But it does stink and I don't care who knows it.
as far as ticket prices, check the prices of other leagues. I know for sure in Toledo the same seats I have, 6 rows off the ice are only $15 per game.
My friend in Tampa STH got a Martin St.Louis game worn jersey a few years back.
