The Komets announced Thursday that three more players have been added to the preseason roster with 40 days remaining until camp opens on the 60th anniversary season of Komet Hockey.
Added were goaltender Kevin Beech, right winger Bobby Chaumont and rookie forward Eric Yngwe.
Beech, who turns 25 this month, has appeared the past four seasons in the CHL. The netminder was a sixth-round draft choice by Tampa Bay in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft and made his pro debut with Springfield posting a 3.13 goals-against average in six games at the end of the 2006-07 AHL season. Beech will be entering his fifth full season as a pro. He has appeared the past four seasons in the CHL serving stints with Laredo, Youngstown, Mississippi, Corpus Christi and, last year, Texas and Wichita. The Brantford, Ontario native has an overall CHL goals-against average of 2.71 and a save percentage of .901 during his four-year CHL career.
Chaumont, 26, will be entering his sixth pro season and fourth in the CHL. The right winger skated CHL stints with Laredo (2006-07) and Mississippi (2008-09, 2009-10) before electing to travel to Europe last season and appearing in 54 games with Braehead posting a team fourth-best 53 points (22 goals, 31 assists). During his CHL career, Chaumont has registered 75 goals and 159 points in 177 games.
Yngwe, 23, hails from Sweden and will be looking to start his pro career with the Komets. The 6-foot, 3-inch, 212-pound forward was a prospect at the Komets' tryout camp at the World Hockey Centre in Toronto this past summer attended by Komet head coach Al Sims. Yngwe has skated the past two seasons with Alvesta, division 2, in Sweden, accumulating 16 goals and 31 points during his two year stint of 53 games.

If Starenky makes the roster he is more than willing to go with either of those guys and hold his own...
I also dont think that either Cescon, Schrock, or the Molles would back down...we could be loaded with middle to light heavyweights...
I would take the heat of the game fights over the center ice main events everytime... More often than not, the undercard is better than the main event anyways...
Agreed, JR1. How many times last year did we get 3/4 of the way through AC/DC just to see a couple punches thrown and then neither guy really loses in 5 seconds worth of actual action? Fighting does have its place in hockey, but the choreographed dancing at center ice that is planned well before the game even starts is pretty lame IMO. I'd much rather see it happen when the guys actually have something to fight over (a cheap shot, retaliation from something that happened last period, talking all game, etc.) as opposed to the "I'm known as a fighter, I need to entertain" type of fights.
I think enforcer fights had their importance back in the day.... Back when the guys werent best friends off the ice or didnt train together in the offseason... Back when it took the jaws of life to seperate the two combatants instead of now adays where they mutually decide top stop and pat each other on the head or shoulder.... Back when the guys didnt like each other and fought for a purpose...
Blake. it is obvious that you don't know me. It also seems obvious to me that you don't read my posts very well.
Your retort " Alan, I'm not going to play your games because you'll just go back and change the question" smacks of being an insult. When have I played games with my remarks? I don't know how many times I have stuck up for and encouraged others to post things even when they are diametrically opposed to my own thoughts. All I've ever asked is that people be respectful to each other.
Yes, you are correct that I did think you were wrong on the Robinson signing. No one was more surprised than me. Let me explain why.
1) It was rumored a couple of seasons ago that Robinson had made known to one of the Franke brothers his desire to play in Fort Wayne one day. 2) When Muskegon transferred their franchise to Evansville and all of the player rights thay held, Robinson was allowed to sign with Odessa. Then, with the demise of Odessa, he signs a new contract with the franchise and Coach and City he spurned just one year earlier? I fully expected him to talk real seriously to the Komets. I expected him to sign with the Komets. I never expected that Evansville would be the team he would choose even if he and the Komets could not agree to terms.
I've often pointed out that I'm not afraid of being wrong. If anyone can logically convince me of something I'm more than happy to admit being wrong. I was trying to use LOGIC in the Robinson situation. He did sign with them and I was wrong. I still think that other factors must have been in play here.
Finally, my post was a question that others also were wondering about. ( Thank you Running Komet, JR1, and JungleMonkey).
If you re-read my post you will see it started out, "Blake, with all due respect". Your post back to me started out with an accusation followed by an example of my being incorrect about an opinion.
My post started with respect. I would submit to you that your response was void of any hint of respect the other way.
By the way, to everyone, the Komets still need scoring.
Alan is nice poster :)
Robinson kissed & made up with Kromm + the Franke did not want to pay the dough to get him.
I'll be honest, I was (and maybe am still a little) concerned about the lack of a big-time scorer, but after talking to a couple fellow STHs and reading JR1's posts, I'm starting to think more about the positives of a balanced attack. This may not be so bad.
RunningKomet, I also think that having balanced scoring would be better than, say, maybe having one forty goal scorer. I have posted in the past that if I could get nine twenty goal scorers ( 3 complete lines) there could be no way any team could defend against all three lines in a single game. Problem is it's easier said than done.
Let's look at last season. I thought that Drouin, Thomas, Shrock, O'Connor, Curadeau, Patrosso, and Naurato, would be twenty goal scorers. That is seven. I thought that Matt Ward could be the eighth. That would be eight out of nine. It seemed very balanced and possible as all but Ward had history and experience on their side.
It didn't happen though. One thing I forgot is that the CHL played only 66 games instead of the 76 or 78 games in the "I".
If I were GM I would still go by that philosophy to an extent. Still, I remember the last two seasons as it seemed we could never score more than two goals a game early in the schedule.
I love this team's defensive lineup.
I love the fact that they have signed so many talented forwards. Forwards who may be similar to each other in many ways, yet are solid players who can contribute.
I think the goaltending will be fine as it gets more settled.
I think, in order to make this team truly special, that they need two more snipers to round out the lines.
I would like to see a forward with the skill to get in front of the net and just pester the opposing goaltender with enough size and skill to tip goals in and to clean up rebounds. These goals are sometimes called "garbage" goals but they are not garbage to me. They count just as much as any other "type" of goal. Two years ago we had it with Syro. Last year it was a missing piece of the offense.
Maybe everything I'm asking for is already on the roster. I. for one, don't have any idea who some of these young kids are and what they can contribute. Still, if I'm the GM, I don't relax on my recruiting ( both young and experienced players). I would always be looking.
Another thing is that maybe these snipers are ALREADY signed, just not yet announced. Here's hoping.
Running Komet, it's good to read your stuff and thanks again for the support earlier.
2 great posts Alan. As I said before I would love to see Syro back in a K's uniform, but I'm not holding my breath. But he would be the type of player that might be the one last piece of the puzzle.
Thanks, KometKrazy. Yes, I agree that a guy like Syro would be a terrific addition.
Just for the sake of conversation I would doubt that Syro would come back here. He, I believe, is in New York State somewhere. His first coach with the Komets was Bingham, wasn't it? If Syro decided to change his mind and come out of retirement, I bet he would contact Bingham in Elmira first.
Hopefully the Komets have invited someone to training camp who will remind us of Syro.
I think every Komet fan would agree that we need someone in front of the net with enough size and bulk to hold his own and get those rebounds and tip ins. We all groaned last season because we didn't have that person. I am thinking (and hoping) that one of the younger rookies may fit into that role.
Based on what is going on with "enforcers" in the NHL these days I wonder why anyone would want to be the designated side show circus clown at the AA level and risk permanent brain injury.
Just like Colt King abused us and our d corp last season I agree we need a big body for the front of the oppositions net
Don't know if it has been posted here, don't think it has...
But there is a pretty good source on Facebook's Internet Jungle that has said that this guy is coming to Komet's camp. He is a friend of APOD.

Posted something you guys might like...it still didn't make it.
Russian D-man coming to Komets Kamp. Big, physical, Fighter.
Friend of APOD.
More to come in my post that is being Moderated.
Whoop there it is.
Which one was he??? LOL
I wonder why he only played 7 games last season?
Unsure why only 7 games....
JR...he was the Russian....lol
He was the big kid that knocked the poop out of the other one..I think he was #81.
I will inquire.
They might as well all be named Smith to me.
Can he actually play though? Big tough and slow doesn't work
Yet to be seen. My private jet was broken down most of last season and I only caught 3 of his 7 games in the Czech league.....LOL
I just am relaying what I saw from APOD. He recommended this kid to the Frankes, he is supposedly tough as nails,, young, and APOD says is a talented player according to what is being said by his friends on facebook. I am trying to find out why he only played 7 regular season games and 3 playoff games last year. Not sure if he was hurt or what. He is 21.
I am not saying this is anything Earth Shattering, I am just realying what i read.
College Football Fans....
Baylor looks impressive against TCU. Very athletic. Run and gun down the field, throwing bombs....wow. 40-23 in the 3rd.
I root for St.Francis Cougars :)
I root for Notre Dame and St. Francis. I also root for East Noble because my daughters boyfriend starts on their offensive line and is a brute. 6'4" 275 and is being woo'ed by a lot of colleges. But getting hammered 49-3 by Homestead wasn't pretty. Being 95 degrees didn't help either. Miserable night.
are you bigger than the boyfriend??? Or have a harpoon gun? LOL
I root for the Cincinnati Bengals.
They would get whooped on by Baylor, TCU, Notre Dame, St. Francis, Homestead, and East Noble.
At one point, early in the season when the komets were in a losing streak, I proclaimed to the people in my section that I would not get a haircut until either the Komets or the Bengals won a game.
I got pretty shaggy.
I root for Elmhurst!
