My stat assistant (who isn't lovely) has informed me that the Ks powerplay really isn't that bad (ranked 3rd last year) but it is our penalty kill that is horrible. I stand corrected.

Does anyone fear the "blog penalty box" when the biggest offender came back under another screen name. Maybe MacMillan should have worn a Halloween mask when he came out after Lawmaster? The writing style and willingness to go directly to insult mode make it obvious who he is.

Nobody has came back, JM. Those people's IP addresses are marked, though some of them still try to post 4-5 times per day.

No team or player is perfect 100% of the time, Burgee. By consistency, I just mean the team as a whole puts forth a good effort in the vast majority of games, win or lose. They might have a losing streak or two, but they never last long. Bottom line, they need to win a lot more than they lose. Kinda goes unsaid.

And Blake, didn't Paul Coffey once say, "Hockey's a funny game. You have to prove yourself every shift, every game.'' Having a good, even great season last year isn't enough. That can be true for coaches as well. Just ask Michel Therrien.

funny thing is.. my post was a call to those that were ostracizing the komets coach after a 2-3 start. i didnt mention any specific names but yet running komet (and you have a habit of doing this) singled my post out and in your arguments directed your post directly towards me, and after blake cautioned.. you did the exact same thing.. not sure why its ok for certain bloggers to insult and call others out but not ok for others, especially defending ones self.
one thing fans need to realize is that almost half the team is new and sims preaches defense. his systems revolve around defensive responsibility. it takes game situations , as well as practice, to understand and perfect the systems he teaches. a 2-3 start , especially when they could have easily won sundays game , is hardly a reason to start questioning the coach. i also find it funny that a few bloggers here dont want to hear about past championships but are quick to refer to sims record in prior years in the echl and chl. i seriously doubt he had the tools and resources in place to be successful like he has had with the komets. personally, being a hockey person my entire life , find it hard to believe at this juncture in minor league hockey that a better coach at this level is available. al sims being bobby orr's defensive partner for four years and his previous championships is enough for me to believe in his systems and his coaching abilities until proven otherwise. we were one win away last year , regardless of the regular season results, from a huge upset and playing for a division championship. i believe big al will have this team right where it needs to be this year, and thats playing for another ring to add to his collection. go komets!

It doesn't make a difference to me, personally. IP addresses are easy enough to change, for what its worth. I'm not trying to draw anyone into a debate, its not that important. I just find it oddly suspect that these new names all popped up at the same time the old ones disappeared.

To me, I'd say the Sims debate is fruitless. He's done enough for the organization that the Franke's will let him go out on his own terms unless the team tanks terribly.

First of all, offthepost, you can't claim innocence when yours was the first attack tossed into the topic... Making it a blanket insult/attack does'nt dismiss you from any wrong doing or make you any less guilty of the act... If you would have stuck to discussing the game and pointing out any great coaching from coach Sims to strengthen your position instead of tossing out insults and questioning others hockey knowledge no one would have taken personal issue with it... The may have debated your points; but there would have been zero retaliation (for lack of a better word...).

Secondly, for myself, it's not the current record that has me a touch worried, it's how we have gotten to the record. They have looked like a top 3 team in two wins, did just enough to win a third, looked terrible and unprepared the other three... That i-n-c-o-n-s-i-s-t-e-n-c-y (had to, lol...)has me worried to tell the truth.... It should'nt always be up to the coach to get his players "up" for a game; but the responsibility falls on his shoulders if they're not. Not always fair; but it is, what it is...

I keep hearing that coach Sims system's are tough, involved and hard to learn for newcomers... Maybe they are too involved for this level of hockey? Or maybe he needs to come up with a Sims System Lite for early season action???

Past championships are just that, in the past... We are talkling about championships in entirely different leagues, and that is why I, and many others, believe they cannot be brought up while discussing the current league the Komets play in the CHL... IHL was an AAA league...IHL2 was an older, slower, more methodical AA league to play in... The CHL/ECHL are considered developmental leagues, faster paced, younger and more in your face type play. You sit back and wait for things to happen in these leagues and you are going to find yourself down by 2-3 goals quickly... They are just different animals and have to be examined seperately to get the correct picture.

Lets put it this way, if I am reseasrching GM to buy a 1/2 ton pickup truck, I dont look up how they faired in the mid sized sedan market....

Sims System Lite... I love it!

The inconsistency this year may also come from youth. I guess inconsistently good this year is an improvement over consistently heartless and lazy last year.

Jr1..what you must have missed is previous post..the only reason I singled a Blogger out in attack mode is because I was treated in the same manner..some can dish it here but obviously can't take it in return.
My post are generally in a positive manner...
I also think after attending the home games..this team will be fine. Bottom line is half the players are new..players are still learning each others tendicies while at same time learning the systems being taught. The biggest thing though is the effort appears different all ready ..and that's a huge plus. Go komets

Long time reader, first time poster...After the Komets' impressive win against the Gems on Tuesday, tonight will be a very important game. Can they carry their momentum?

@JungleMonkey, I don't believe IP Address are easily changed so I doubt anyone has returned.

Hate to get off topic, but I don't care in this instance. A quote says my sentiments much better than I could:

Off The Post, your first comment was a bit condescending. You put the target on your back with that one lol. What I find interesting, is that you defended Sims on other posts with the "it's just one game" argument. While you had a legitimate point, you turned around and questioned our doubts based on "just one game". You weren't wrong before, and you aren't wrong now. But neither was anyone else. Hindsight is always 20/20. We're all water cooler sports experts. This is all about OPINION. Having the ability to differ from one another is a gift given to us by the people we are celebrating today!

my post was intentional and i posted that way purposely. if you read a few of my post prior and a few responses to it, maybe you will understand as to why i did it. i dont have a problem with difference of opinion and the debate those opinions generate here from most , but a few still cry wolf when you respond to them in the same manner as to which they address you. although i dont agree with everyones insights here regarding hockey and specifically komet hockey, i respect their right to those opinions. some understand the game more than others. and ...no... im not snuff as implied by a blogger and confirmed by blake. komets go 3-1 on road trip

It sure seems like "old times". I mean even with the defections of some of my favorite bloggers, this site has picked up a few new ones and it feels like nothing has changed. Good for us!!

I don't particularly like the weekend games at Rapid City. It's hard to catch the results. I suppose I could wait until the morning paper is delivered, but I don't think it would do much good. I'm usually not done throwing up by then.

I know that the boys feel good about themselves after Tuesday's win. They should. It seems like they played a complete game.

I would only caution, and I hope one of last seasons' players will take a moment to make sure of reminding everyone how good the Komets felt after wins in games 3 & 4 of the playoffs. It seemed they were all looking forward to game 5 and that turned out to be a disaster.

They thought they were ready. They were not and some players admitted as much later.

This weekend's games will be a "measuring stick" of sorts.

Play hard, skate hard, and hit hard.

Okay People, move along.. there's nothing to see here. (Barbrady from Southpark voice)

Who would imply such a thing, Off the Post? You should be appalled at such a hurtful implication. If you knew anything of this Snuffy fellow, which I assume you don't since you seemingly didn't appear until he disappeared, you'd know that drawing a comparison isn't the height of compliment. People need to understand that their words have the potential to do damage.

Though I must admit, your speech on do unto others the way they do unto you, and cry wolf mantra do sound a bit like a guy we all know and

I think Schrock, Leo, D. Molle, and Boucher need to get the boys fired up tonight. Henley was verbally threatened by the RC coach at the end of last weeks game, he should be ready for some cheapshots. Its up to Nick to be solid tonight. The defense needs to make RC earn their space in the crease. Eliminate stupid penalties.

Oh my! I didn't realize it was so easy to change your IP address. It's very possible that some of these new names are actually the same people who were banned, I'd like to retract what I said earlier this morning, Mr. Monkey.

No need to formally retract. I learn new things everyday. We'll assume that you've lived a morally upstanding on-line life since you never needed to know how to do such a thing. For those of us who do know how, well it speaks for itself. ;-)
