I heard Dennis was putting together a Train Trip this season. I'd stay out of his Kaboose if I were you though. Not even the guy from Sesame Street can sell enough sunshine to for that. In fact, that is where the sun don't shine.....Ask Burgee, he should know.....

I just went back and read the last week's worth of comments, for what they are worth, and saw that whole "train" of thought...LOL....that was hilarious! What were you all on that day? Bret Michael's bus make it in town for a stop or something? ;)
And I think there needs to be someone selling some sunshine on this blog....what's it gonna take? I leave and everyone gets all sad! I'm getting a complex! Is this really what happens when I take a vacation from you guys (and girls)?? Come on! :)
(for those who did not catch it....I'm joking!)
Have a great weekend, everyone!

I think that seeing several different new teams in the coliseum will be great this year. I just added up mileage via google earth for the Komet road trips this year. If they plan on going by bus it will be about 19339 miles for the road trips this year.

Negative nelly alert! Negative nelly alert!
If Blake's count of 21 games against CHL teams is right, anything less than 32 points in those games would be disappointing--especially with the nucleus that the Ks have coming back.

Aside from the fact that we play Dayton 4 times in a row in December (really dont understand that one...) its pretty much what I expected... ALOT of games against the teams formally known as the IHL....
I really hope that Evansville and Dayton have entertaining teams this season! If not...........

B-line Baby, I am glad that you are looking forward to this coming season. I want everyone to look forward to the season. It is just my opinion that based on the history of the CHL that the caliber of play will be considerably less than what Komet fans are used to. Like I said in my earlier post, if the Ks do not earn at least 32 points from their 21 games against the CHL teams, it should be considered a disappointment.

Just a guess, but I'd think all the Dayton games in mid/late December would be because they are the closest team and it allows everyone to remain fairly close to their families during the Christmas holiday.
Beyond that, my reaction is this: Okay. I see some CHL teams that I don't know, and therefore haven

Honestly, they could have gotten rid of the trip to Arizona and added another trip to Colorado/Rapid City and Missouri/Wichita...
1 round trip to play 2 games in Arizona = @3640miles
2 trips to the above mentioned 4 cities for 4 games = @4175miles
This would have given the K's a couple more games against CHL northern division teams...
And talk about being out on an island... Arizona only has 2 teams (Odessa and Colorado) that fall under the 1000mile travel distance... No wonder they have had money/ownership problems..... Geez!

mightbite--I don't T H I N K that is so. Your not giving Gratz any credit at all. The kid is sharp and on the ball. He knows how to coach. I think Dayton will be a thorn in our side all season. It wouldn't be my first mistake and surely not my last but I just wouldn't rule anybody out before they drop the puck.
The only thing I know about Evansville the owner has more money than brains. I also know where it is located.
We saw last year that on any given night someone can beat you.

Yeah, especially before January/February when the Komets look around and decide that, hey, maybe they should start taking the games a bit more seriously. And it's not that I question Gratz. But was Marks really so bad, either? He is the ECHL all-time leader in games coached and games won, as I understand it.

I make my comment on Marks even though he recently took a job being coach and director of a junior team in Manitoba. But there is a difference between coaching youth and coaching young pros. I am not sure his coaching style goes well with todays late 20's players.

How is a coach (at any level) going to find out if he/she can do the job if they are not given the opportunity to prove themselves? Even the greats like Scotty Bowman, Toe Blake and others started out somewhere....how does one get the experience if someone does'nt take a chance on them?
Even with most of us, when we began our working lives, we had no experience when we were younger, someone was willing to gives us our first job at whatever we do for a living.
Let's keep that in mind and give Brian a chance before you bash the kid...is that too much to ask?

Well said Bob...
The "credit" that should be given to him right now is that he got the job. That is impressive enough and an accomplishment that the blogging blowhards would never be able to attain. But they will then say something like "uhhhh he must have gotten the job because nobody else wanted it" or some nonsense of that type.
He got the job, whenever they are not playing the Komets I hope he does very well. Both for the sake of Brian and the fact that Dayton needs some success to get some sustained fan support.
