Flint's win gives the K's just a little more time to rest and heal.

Dschebig, that is a great story. Thanks. It is incredible how many of these types of stories come out of sports. If it was a pop bottle (soda - south of the border) named for Mr. Turner it would be an honor to play for it.

Mike in Toronto- Thank you! The point is He was a Canadian who fought and died with the US Army fighting for all of our freedoms. That is the mark of a true "Hero" Your absolutely correct. The cup could be a a little tin cup. Winning it with his name and it and knowing the sacrifice he paid is the real thing. More important than any of that is we should never forget those sacrifices. It is not the trophy, while that is very important, it is the act or price that was paid for it. We name bridges, buildings, airports and roads to name just a few of those things for our heroes. Hockey players fight very hard to hoist that cup. Thus honoring a "Real Hero" which for just a few minutes out of their lives they have become to each of us who root them on.

Reading the ignorant comment concerning the Turner Cup brought up a question no one seems to be able to answer- , what happened to the IHL's other trophies? The Gatschene , Lamoureux, Longman,Huber etc. were all named in honor of someone. In fact 7 or 8 years ago I was at the Hall of Fame in Toronto and they had no clue where the original Turner Cup was. If I remember, most of those trophies were named after servicemen who died in WWII.

Yeah I am sure the old IHL Turner Cup has history. And ment something but you can't compair the old IHL of the past to this current running of it. It's not even close. But good for the Frankes for keeping hockey in Fort Wayne and giving me something to complain about.

What's your problem Hockey Fan? This was never the NHL. But the competition has been fierce and very close. After a long season there are guys playing through injuries and leaving a lot on the ice. They must see enough history in this "Cup" to give 'er.

While out running some errands this AM I was thinking about just how competitive the IHL has been this season. Here we are into the playoffs and both series have gone 7 games. The end of season was tight with the final standings not determined until the final games. Amazing.
