Only times Schrock got his butt handed to him is when he was out weighed by 30-50 lbs. Probably in the top 3 fighters in the league with players under 200 lbs. Didn't see anyone else stepping up and taking on the heavyweights

Ok Ron, you must have missed his interview where Schrock himself even said he no longer was one of the fastest guys in the league anymore and that it kept him from pucks he normally got to... I didnt need that interview though to see with my own eyes where he was lacking....
I will have to do some research; but I can remember 2 times he got his butt handed to him by guys his own size, not the "heavyweights" you mention... His new "windmill" style of throwing punches did not work last season.

alright JR do the homework on the fights because i only missed 1 game last year and dont recall anything like you mentioned. As far as his speed is concerned Schrock being a half step slower still makes him faster than most. lol !

ron.. you are absolutely correct.. but the blog god has spoken.. you will not win the argument! the stats on shrock speak for themselves . he was not signed just for marketing purposes. anyone who truly understands the game .. understands the value he brings and how hard it is to find players that play his role.. thats why he was signed

I'm more interested in finding out what is going to happen with affiliations and whether or not there is going to be an Assistant Coach.

The fact of the matter is that you can find many other players to "play" that role that are a less expensive hit to the salary cap. We aren't saying we don't like Schrock or that we hope he has another bad year. We are just stating its a business and I don't feel it was a good business decision. By the way, he didn't hit consistently last year, agitate at the right times, or stand up for his teammates very much. Isn't that his role? 2 prime examples: Auger gets taken out and it's Hayes that sticks up for him. Then Gens takes runs at our guys and its Smith that takes care of business. Where was LKS at those times?
Again, I hope he has a good year and maybe Graham can get the best of out of him.

Off the post is off his rocker if he thinks his "understanding" of the game is so much better than everyone elses....
Fact of the matter is that if this wasnt the hometown boy, everyone would be going nuts over the komets giving someone with his stats a large lump of cash and a veteran spot on the roster....

Wow, 90+% discussion on one player....how about discussing who the leader of this group may be....Marino, Schrock, Auger...someone else
What about a goalie?
Also, funny to see comments from some who do not like others making comments that may contradict theirs....and have critiqued some in the past for exactly the same type of behavior....nuff said....lets move on
Assistant coach....do not think so

I say a familiar face will return as goalie......
That goalie, I believe will come from a secondary affiliation with an AHL team...
Right now, from who has been announced so far, I would go with Marino to wear the "C"...
I do not believe there will be an assistant coach....would be very hard to find the right guy who would fit in well with a very young/sophomore head coach. Hard to put it into words....
I have zero problems with contradicting opinions.... If, however, that person decides to jabs and make it personal, I will then take shots back... I love hockey discussion; but this has been a LONG off season so far....

Not having an assistant will be a mistake IMHO. Running practice and keeping 21 constantly changing players trained and focused will be a monumental task for 1 person.

Speaking of vets, only 2 signed....ideas on who might also come into the fold as a vet....I have no ideas now.
Agree with Marino with C.....he seems to want it based on prior conversation.
Is Auger really healthy? If so why has he not signed.....same for Rizk.
Gary may be looking elsewhere other than those two.

On Auger: I have to think at this point there is more money on the table to go somewhere else...maybe back to the CHL. Just guessing here; but I think he's probably trying to decide between still chasing his dream of playing at a higher level (ECHL) or maybe taking better money elsewhere.
On Rizk: He has to be chasing an AHL contract at this point... If all else fails, I see him signing with Fort Wayne and get one of their AHL camp invite spots...
BUT, rumor has it that Rapid City has signed a center who played for the Komets last season..... Both Rizk and Auger are centers....
Vets: Ideally, the Komets will find 2 guys with proven ECHL scoring ability. Could use a scoring forward and Dman...
Captain: I think this will fall to someone who played with the K's while Graham was an assistant here. Last season, Graham brought in Leo Thomas to be Captain in Pensecola, a familiar face... I wouldnt be surprised at all if this was part of Schrocks contract... I do not agree with that pick; but will not be shocked if it happens....

JR1, I hope it is just a rumor. Something tells me there is some truth to it. Last week we read that Auger wanted another week to decide before making his decision. Kind of hints that he was waiting to hear another offer. I would not like to see him nor Rizk leave. It is so, so early in the signing/announcement game and, of course, we are not privy to the inner workings of the negotiation/offers that have or have not been made.
The addition of Auger and Rizk would give the Komets four very capable scoring forwards and neither of them would cost a veteran spot.
I do not envy David Franke trying to piece together the roster puzzle while dealing with a salary cap. I would think that even though the salary cap went down a little, the Komets may find a little more freedom without the yoke of Colin Chaulk's salary this season.
The 2012-13 Komets were the fourth lowest scoring team in the sixty one history. That fact has got to weigh heavily with the front office as they put together this team. The 2012-13 team was just terrible defensively. Too many young guys on the blue line. Hopefully the signings last week begin to address that weakness.
Looking forward to the next group of signings ( I hope they include Auger and Rizk) but it may be a while before the strategy becomes more apparent.
