The Komets are 8-3-4 over their last 15 games, but that's not been good enough to help them climb in the standings.
``Until we start winning in this building, we're not really going to make any imprint on the standings,'' Komets coach Al Sims said. ``We've got to start doing it here. Winning on the road is great, but if you lose at home you're not making any gains.''
The crazy thing is that the Komets have won four straight road games. The home fans are obviously showing their impatience.
``These guys have all played in this building for three or four years some of them,'' Sims said. ``That's not an excuse. We have the best crowds, the best building and there's no excuse for our team to come up with some wins against teams we know we can beat. We beat this team twice, and we need to beat them at home.''

Yes, Scott, and again the Walleyes own/control the building and get all the parking and concessions.
Who's making fun of Shaf? I must have missed those posts.
Bobble heads and jerseys..... those are promotions not given away by the teams but by companies, probably writing off some of the cost as advertising. The bobble heads are from Source One and the QC jerseys were from a radio and TV station. Maybe we need to picket outside of Source One's office and try to get them to give away more? And if they limited them to STHs the posts on this blog would be so hot they would fry our monitors.
I buy season tickets because I go to the games so the 25% savings is a real savings for me, and I like where I sit, no other reasons. Of course for it to make sense I have to go to the games. In over 25 years of being a STH I've never missed more then three games a season. I would miss one game because of a Christmas party or trip out of town for Christmas, but even those are a thing of the past. I think it's been four years since I've missed a game.
My wife is a different story, and there's a real possibility we won't renew her ticket next season. She's already missed enough this year to make up for the 25%.
The exchange policy did upset me until I thought about it. I see both sides of it and can't say I'm happy about it, but since I rarely miss a game it's not a real issue for me. The timing was bad for sure, and it seems to be human nature that if someone gives you something long enough you come to believe it's owed to you.
JM Love your post about corporate sponsors and description of the people who come on those tickets, and agree 100%.
Then again there are corporate sponsors like myself who donate those tickets to youth groups or other charities....
Steve: post of the month!! Including what JM says about the corporate people....they annoy the crap out of me. Not all of them are like that, but it does seem like there are always those select few who get free tix who could care less about the game and do all the things he mentioned.
And by the way, just so everyone is aware: on bobblehead night....the Komet travel teams that get in ahead of everyone DO NOT get bobbleheads. Some of our kids and parents were subjected to comments. If you would have taken the time to watch, you would have seen that not one single one of us, even the STHs in the group, not the kids, none of us, got the coupons for the bobbleheads. I do thank those of you who took the time to buy raffle tickets to support our team. Especially from my kid...LOL.... you rock, people. We had a great night, and the kids had a blast. You were a nice crowd to the kids, and we appreciate it!!
How many times do the fans have to get screwed over by the frankes before they see what kind of owners they are. Greedy and power hungry!
I like things just the way they are and if I wanted a bobblehead that bad I would have been the first one in line. I got what I paid for, admission to the game and the same seat anything else is extra.
Not gonna hear me whine.
Wow, I thought this was a PG rated blog........
It's so hard being a mature adult sometimes.. I wanna type it so bad....
More of a Sproat guy, eh Snuff?
LOL! Sometimes you just have to have some fun.
Yep...definitely replied under the wrong thread....oh well haha
What's up? My post is gone...
Beats me, I didn't remove it. Looks like a few got removed somehow.
I blame Cohn's hacking skills
I was just saying that I think they need to bring back the STH nights. My son loved the bowling night at Crazy Pins.
Oh, that's still up here, Hoss.
My favorite give a way was the ice scrapers. For some reason I can't find mine.
Second favorite, peanut butter marshmallows.
Which is the better komets mascot. Icy Eagle or K-mutt. :-)
I miss the season ticket holder of the game giveaways, maybe because I actually won once. Or do they still do those? I haven't noticed if they do. It apparently used to be completely random, because during the New Year's game one season Wade Weaver sat down next to me and asked if I was a STH. I said yes, and next thing I knew I had a microphone in my face and was talking to 10k people! I got an Outback gift certificate out of it.
Anyone have an extra Drouin bobble head to trade for a Bertram or Chase?
I have an extra but would need a Dupuis in exchange. That's the only one I'm missing.
He may have had the seat number picked and just needed to be sure it was really you in it and not a squatter.
I remember when Flossie use to give them out. You'd see her checking out the seat to make sure someone was sitting in it.

Yes they get all the parking and concessions, but they also have the expense of employees and products. Komets don't get parking and concessions, but also don't have to incur the expenses for those.
Yep, and the Komets would trade for that in a heartbeat.
Think about this. How much does the Coliseum add to every ticket? at least $2 off the top, I think. Then add in the cost of parking and concessions on top of that, and then the things they charge the Komets for such as use of the scoreboard, Zamboni, ribbon board, ice, etc. Throw on top of that everything in the luxary suites. It adds up to a pretty good chunk of money. That's how some of these teams can survive drawing much smaller crowds. I know for a fact, the Komets have offered to pay rent in order to get a chunk of those other things, and have been turned down many times. If you think about it, just like with a college football program, you could say the Komets are basically subsidizing all the other teams that play at the coliseum.
