According to Komets president Michael Franke, "By early next week I think we'll have some information. I will tell you that the schedling meeing and the all the drafts have been rescheduled and will be coming up late next week."
Asked if he had any plans on heading to Quad City early next week, Franke said, "I can't say."
Asked about news out of Flint, "The ownership group is in place. We'll know more within 7-to-10 days."
Everybody have a good weekend and try to stay cool. I'm going on vacation, but I'll be checking in.

Komet marathon on comcast ch. 55
I am not real sure on the number but, a veteran is a player who has played 300 games (I think) It might be 280 games. You are a rookie until you play 65 games (again I am not 100% sure) in between is "No Mans Land" A goaltender veteran is determined by minutes played. That number total escapes me. I am sure one of you all know that number. Larrrrry, Pool and Alban are all vets. Seabass is in the neutral zone. I know that Hukalo crossed into the veteran side this passed season. I hope that helps you out.
Does that number apply to people who did not play for the Komets last season, or is it a lifetime accumulation of minutes? See, to me, this is a better way to use the blog as opposed to fighting over dumb stuff with each other, but that's just my opinion. I honestly do appreciate the info you've all provided to me through this. Thanks to all.
RunningKomet--Those game numbers/minutes apply to a career. They go with you from league to league as a professional. I think each league sets there numbers as to what is a veteran but they are all just about the same. I hope that makes sense to you.
BIG BIG news from the Central League. Muskegon's "Cry me a river" Chad Woollard has signed with Corpus Christi for next season. He was one of those guys who didn't want to be checked. I wonder how many points he will pick up drive through cities on his way to Texas. As much as I didn't like him he could score points.
The Quad City Whalers will have Bob Marley night as their season opening promotion.
Hey RunningKomet. No problem. I am ecstatic to have Quad City in the I. Remember that getting Quad City was just the first step. (It is a big step though.) Now the concentration needs to start with bringing in Rockford and Peoria also. Both franchises are in trouble and maybe, if everything fell together just right, could be brought in for the 2010-2011 season. I believe that Quad City could be the "anchor" to do that. We'll see if I'm right but I have a hunch that the IHL Board of Governors are thinking along the same lines as I am. Remember that the Chicago Hounds franchise is still out there and could be moved to one of those cities. I'm not sure what the situation is with Indianapolis but I believe that in the next two years if Indy, Rockford, and Peoria joined the IHL then Cincinnati, Toledo, and even Kalamazoo will head to the "I" from the "E". If you recall, I've tried to maintain two points. 1) This has to be at least a two year plan and 2) "geography" is the secret. Thanks for reading!
Burgee--
The show will be held on Sunday, September 13 from 12 Noon to 5 PM at Penguin Point 7303 Winchester Road. Proceeds will benefit Fort Wayne Rescue Ministries.

Alan, what you've said to this point has come to be, so hopefully the rest will continue to fall into place. I've become a dedicated reader. I'd love to see Indy back into the league. That'd give me another reason to go down there more, and if I end up moving back down there, I wouldn't totally be cut off from my Komets.
I'd love to see the IHL get as big as some of you have predicted it may. That'd make a lot more sense financially if it did with having all the travel costs in one region. Time will tell. I can't say that taking guesses on it this offseason hasn't been fun though.
RunningKomet--Chill out, relax, quit worrying about it. You really don't have any control over what or will not happen with the IHL. I have a whole lot of confidence in the money men who run the league. I think their business plan is just what the hockey world needs. Reasonable and and full of common sense. They spend the money and I get to enjoy the games. I feel it is they win as owners and we win as fans. I believe they will look at any group or potential owners who fit into the "business plan" . Indy, I am sure could make that plan work so could Toledo and other cities. If (big IF) the economy does not improve all kinds of cities will be taking a seriously hard looks at the IHL. I think they will like what they see. Between the ECHL and the CHL they have lost something like a total of 6 or 7 teams this past season. The IHL only 1 team but we gained 2 with a 3rd. in waiting. The 4th. team is still there with the Chicago Hounds. I feel real good about the future of the IHL. Everyone should. Remember AA hockey in any league going by any name is just that AA hockey.
Dschebig - What the deuce are you talking about? What am I not relaxed about? Didn't I say time will tell? All I said was it's been fun talking about stuff on here. Maybe you should calm down and quit trying to be the commissioner of the blog. Just get back to reading your copy of Mein Kampf and enjoy your summer. I just think it's cool a couple of more teams have decided to join the league and that it seems like it's getting stronger. In addition, I said it'd be cool if other teams continued to fall into place over time as Alan has fathomed. I wasn't into hockey when the big Fort Wayne/Indy Ice rivalry was at its peak and it'd be great to be a part of that if it ever were to happen. Not sure where you got any part of me being fired up, especially compared to what others have written on here, or where you feel your authority comes from that you can tell people to calm down on here, but you don't really have any. Sorry to break the news to you. On several occasions you've tried to come at me, although we agree on what we're saying. Try reading what is said before you tell someone to do something, then echo the comments they made before you tried to call them out. It's not tough, just take your time and sound out the multi-syllable words. You can do it, Tiger.
In other news, welcome to the IHL Quad City.
I went for a walk along the River Greenway earlier today. I noticed some movement along the edge of the bank and guess what? I saw Blake down there fishing!
It looked like he had a big one hooked, his fly rod was bent way over and he had a big grin on his face as he was trying to get into position to get a net under whatever he had on the line.
The water broke and there plain as day on the end of his line was an ice skate! No kidding! Then the line snapped and with a splash the skate was gone. I didn't get a good look at it but I could swear I saw the number "5" stenciled on the back of it.
It's possible Blake will deny this, he's not the type to talk about the one that got away. And those who know me know that I almost never go anywhere without a camera but unfortunately this was one of those times I forgot to bring one with me so I wasn't able to document the moment. I probably feel as bad about that as Blake does about this one that got away.
RunningKomet--No offense intended. If I upset you I am very sorry. That was not my intent I assure you. You write good stuff. I have obviously misunderstood what you wrote. My bad! Maybe I have too much time on my hands. PLease except my apology! Have a very good evening.
Dschebig - ::Sigh:: Perhaps we should combine our strengths and battle the forces of evil and stupidity together? You, Burgee, and Alan are my sources of knowledge on here and I need to stay on your good sides. Forgive me, not seeing anyone getting smashed into the boards or the occasional fight is really getting to me. Maybe I'm just hungry. I need to get out some aggression. Bowling perhaps? Eh, screw it, I'm off to do some four-wheeling. A thousand apologies.
Wow if those are your sources of knowledge....good luck!?!?
Just kiss and make-up boys.
The IHL is stronger than ever and this news today is huge. It gives Bloomington strength in a rivalry finally. Dayton will be awesome for us, and us for them. If Flint can stabilze and re-attract their fan-base this coming season, Port Huron hold their own, and Muskegon continue to grow, this league is going up fellas.
I too see a future of teams added like INDY, CINCY, and wouldn't it be ironic if Toledo jumped over and Kalamazoo came crying and begging back....ha.
IHL Naysayers can continue to whine all they want, the IHL is better today with growth and without Mr. Perfect Pickard.
Great Day Folks!!!

Here is a story from todays Quad City Times you might like.

Be sure to watch the video
Thanks for the link, mouse43. Great stuff. Steve Ryan there at the end of the video sounds a bit like JFK. Ich bin ein IHLer. He must be from the Northest.
I like the artical about bad hockey. Bring back Watson-Bigsnake-Tidball, Oh My
I can see the next book coming, legends of the Maumee - the ones that got away. Tales of my Bass - you too can kiss it. I bet Blakes upset you didn't get any pictures steve, that will make the book 10 pages smaller.
Keep it up 100 blog posts and its an extra day as paid vacation.
Glad QC is in, my plan of sitting back and waiting for Obama to fix it worked!
Lots of good stuff coming from the IHL this week. League schedule, expansion draft, dispersal draft, who did we lose, and who did we gain. I think that now the player signings will start to be announced (done sporadically to keep interest high.) Good stuff to keep the Fort Wayne Komets fans (like me) occupied until Opening Night. This has been a most interesting off-season. There is more excitement to come as the Komet team starts to take shape. I count myself very lucky to be able to be a Komet fan and have the Franke's as the owners, Al Sims as the coach and have players who really care for, and about, the community.
I didn't see it for myself, but there have been reports of a man matching Blake's description dancing the night away in the lights and fountain down at Headwaters Park sporadically between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 3:00 a.m. He is said to be wearing tight orange and black-striped cutoff swim trunks and a Komets orange T-shirt with the arms cut out of it.
It sounds kind of like trying to sight Big Foot, you have to be very quiet and hide behind something. All attempts at pictures have failed due to the fact that flash photography has been said to frighten him and he vanishes as quickly as he's said to appear.
Word on the street is Chad Ryan has been hired to stake out the park with some high-end photography equipment, but I can't confirm nor deny such information at this time.
I know Blake and I assure you he can not move fast enough to as you say "Vanish". Everytime Chad takes a photo his flash throws a huge glare off of Blakes bald head and it ruins the picture. Look at it this way-- it takes him three days to run down a story! We love ya Blake. Enjoy your vacation. We are all trying to help you get a big fat bonus for a 100 hits on your blog.
I heard that a couple of guys down in Georgia claimed to have Blake in a cooler, but it turned out to be just a Blake suit.
And hey, isn't it about time for Marian Hossa to declare that he just felt Chicago had a better chance at winning a Stanley Cup in the next 12 years than Detroit does? LOL. Not sure what that would mean for Blackhawks fans, given his track record.
Wendy-lt will mean ticket price$ will be going up and up and up!

Dayton and quad city will pick up kzoo's goalies first in the dispersal draft, tyler willis to flint
I kind of thought Chicago was past the point of needing the top two teams' leftovers but I guess not. Maybe Hossa is just trying to collect jerseys?
RunningKomet--I am a Blackhawk fan and I think you are right on. That makes 90 hits! Burgee may be correct also but will they go? That is the question.
