They seriously need to consider cutting back this schedule. Are you still confident the Komets are going to win the regular-season title? Do you care or is it playoff championship or nothing for you?

Muskegon to the USHL next year is still sounding like a go.
Are the Frankes giving any sort of plan or marketing scheme to combat this move. Is there a new team out there to jump into the league to save the IHL, and I don't mean Evansville. I don't think the Komets can support 7 teams all by themselves next season.
I am locked into this season mentally like most all of you are, but when the season ticket renewal form arrives in my mail-box, the Komets best be telling me what the future holds for this team and what league it will be in. I am not going to play the limbo game this summer.
More teams is the key. Fewer games won't make anyone happy.
Fewer games equals fewer dates that arenas are filled, fewer weeks for the players to get paid etc.
Old favorites like Rockford and Peoria and Kalamazoo are losing money left and right. When (not if, when) they end up leaving the AHL they will come back to the IHL. Then you have a 5 team Illinois Division+ Muskegon and a Division of Dayton, Fort Wayne, Flint, Kzoo and Port Huron. Then you have the makings of a solid 10 team league with 8 teams making the playoffs. Perhaps then you consider shrinking the schedule by 6-8 games. Then dreaming down the road you add Indy and Toledo..... That is how this league gets built.
Nice Pipe-Dream
Something must happen like within the next 3-4 months or this league is done. The Komets cannot continue to prop up teams like Dayton, Flint, Bloomy, and sometimes even Port Huron. It just can't go on. And if Muskegon is gone, what does that leave this league with other than the FW?
I too would love a league with Peoria, K-Zoo, Toledo, Indy, etc. But it ain't gonna happen overnight. Toledo is headed toward the AHL. Peoria is in the AHL. K-Zoo loves the ECHL (just ask the same number of fans they have now that they had in the IHL) and Pickard will never associate with FW, and Indy is happy with the USHL as they don't have much if any cost in that league compared to Pro Hockey. No one in Indy is beating down the Pro Hockey door right now either.
I don't mean to sound like a Helpless Harry, but this is another crossroad for hockey in this town. The state of Minor League hockey is poor again this season overall, and lots of dropping out and moving around is going to happen. We Komet fans need not worry as we will have a team somewhere I am sure. But the question remains.....where will it be? ECHL? AHL? USHL?
Let me say, I will support the Komets anyway they go for the most part. I love going to the games. I am not excited if they drop down to USHL HS Aged Hockey. I doubt many would be. ECHL is blah to me. If we are going to move....lets go up.
Now back to the regular scheduled program......sorry, I hope I don't tick all of you off for thinking outloud.
Blake, you gotta ease up on the foo-foos while blogging...LOL! Funny stuff.
And why would anyone be ticked for you posting about hockey and the Komets, Hit? :) LOL...
So we are starting this next season crap in the middle of this season? Every year it's the same thing. Why don't you let the owners figure it out. I'll tell you that the AHL will never be here if the Frankes own the team. So hit if you want the team to move up you better empty your bank account and buy the team.
1. The Blues (who own the Peoria franchise), just signed a new 5 year lease with the arena there in Peoria so I dont think they are leaving the AHL anytime soon.
2. Chicago is rumored to be looking into ending thier short relationship with Rockford...boy wouldnt the Blackhawks AAA affiliate look good here in Ft Wayne.......
3. There are ownership groups lined up that would move a franchise into Ft Wayne in a heart beat should the Frankes not want to put a team owned by themselves in the AHL...
The #2 city in minor league hockey attendance garners that type of attention.
4. If you dont like rumors, speculation, opinions and the timing of such, then maybe message boards/blogs are not the place for you...IMO
JR--What you posted is very good, timely and right on. Thanks!
Blake, Is tonight's game going to be broadcast?
Bob is on the bus and ready to go. They just told us it was going to be on WOWO. Thanks Fed Med for the planning.
we'll see
Very true, Burgee... :)
Burgee will see much better now that he has his "Brand New" Bi-Foguls". Welcome to the 4eye club. You and Hawthorne. He wares contacts.
That should be bi-foocals.
Hey I wear bi-focals=too many eye injuries/I suggest that all the bloggers go up during BLB interview and ??????
Professor Grumpy Hockey.....
I did not attack you, so step off me and take a deep breath. It is an issue that will be dealt with at the end of the season in the public, but if you don't realize that they are actually dealing with it right now behind the scenes, than you are so short-sided that you can't see past the end of your very own nose, sir. Not sure why everytime comments on this blog you feel it is your duty to take upon yourself and rip that person because you don't like the topic or what is being said. But everyone on here, for the most part, respects each others discussions and opinions, so what makes you so special that you can't do the same for you fellow fans on here?
The Fact is, if the Muskegon franchise moves to the USHL, that leaves the IHL in a hot mess. How happy would people be staying in a league that has 5 teams total next season, and 3 of those being Flint, Dayton, and Bloomy, plus us and Port Huron who doesn't exactly make money in this league....

Relax, Hit, if you are talking about G Hockey's question, his is also a legitimate one. What are you going to solve by arguing over this now? None of us have any control over this crap. I don't necessarily agree with either of you, but you have every right to question the situation, and he has every right to question your questioning of hte situation.
We, meaning everyone on here, has this same discussion every year and to what purpose? We have no control over it, we don't know anything; shoot, even the owners don't really know right now. They are all just trying to make it to the end of the year. There are simply no answers right now, so his point is valid. So is yours.
It's always going to be this way in minor league hockey because it always has. We all better learn to deal with it.
It's all a pipe dream. It's too bad we all love it too dang much and can't do anything about it.
That's it! I'm signing you both up for the blogger competition at the Komets game, whatever it is they decide and when.
Sorry, the "why don't you buy the team and move them to the AHL" comment ticked me off. I am not lobbying for AHL at all. I want the IHL to be the league we stay in, so long it doesn't continue to be 6 out of 7 teams in the league are kidding themselves about having a team in their particular city. Look at the attendance tonight in Port Huron, what is there, maybe 500 there?
I apologize for my comment to G Hockey. I just don't understand why it is so taboo to discuss all the aspects of the Komets and what it means to us in this town. Muskegon going to the USHL, you have to admit, causes a serious problem for the IHL and will change hockey in this town Professionally because of it.
If the Bears were getting ready to move to the Indoor Football league, don't you agree it would be a topic that might interest Bears fans?
Komet fans are just as passionate about this team as Bear fans are about football in Chicago. I realize I don't have much control over what Muskegon is doing and what the fate of the IHL is or will be, but does it kill anyone to talk about it?
Sorry.
This is great, now that I have my bi-fooguls I can read my blackberry again, that can only mean more posts from me, I'd rather talk about tanning than Muskegon. Blogfoul on everybody, no team league hopping discussions until the off season, everyone go to box with Schebig and drink foo foo's, count dog biscuits and hand out assists like they were stimulus funds from Obama and feel shame.
It's OK, Hit. I'm just glad someone besides me is apologizing on here for once. LOL. Usually, I'm the one blowing my stack.
I understand we're all frustrated with this, but we don't even know there's a problem. Partly, that's my fault because I have not had time to investigate it. For that, I apologize.
The other thing is, I don't think any of the owners have any clue what's going to happen next year. They're all just trying to get through the season. No one knows in any league.
I think there are some that know what is going on.....
Muskegon's is responding to emails asking them of the USHL rumor and they are responding with the fact that they are exploring all options and are not satisfied with the stability of the IHL... This offseason is gonna be wild....
I think the foo-foos should be drank (drunk?) with me up in 605-7 Friday night before my interview, whether or night you wear bi-foocals or think the Komets should stay or go or believe that Muskegon is moving leagues....does that cover it? ;)
And I do not apologize....simply because I do not have to!
Sign up for the bus trip!! Let's fill the bus!! The we can get Larry Sterling to drive it....I hear he's a good driver.
Oops, that would be whether or "not" you wear bi-foocals....sober typing is dangerous....
Seriously, if they have proof it's from the Muskegon front office, I'd like to see that. With the name of the person responding. The members of the LJ front office are some of the smartest people in hockey and no way would they put that out publicly now.
That said, it would be smart to keep options open right now. I think everybody in minor league hockey should right now. The truth is, no one can know what's going to happen next year because so many teams in every league are just trying to get to the completion of this season.
Who knows? This might all end up working out in the IHL's favor. That's as possible as everything falling apart at this point.
If everything is lining up the way alot of people are hearing then things at this point for the offseason are enevitable and they might as well tell the truth to the fanbase especially if they are going to try and take a professional hockey town and turn them to a juniors hockey town... It was the worst kept secret in town when the Lumberjacks moved to Cleveland all those years back in the original IHL. People can believe what they will; but this is gonna be one heck of a ride this coming offseason...
K's fans better start getting used to penalty parade hockey again...
we'll see said the Zen Master
Blake-Micheal just got back from IHL meetings in Vegas. Have you been able to garner any fresh gossip or info?
