I had no problems with most of those guys you mentioned Blake... I think the difference, the way I see it, is that I didnt think any of those guys were playing out of position. I believe Brandon Warner is... Another problem is that you have both offensive minded, puck moving d-men on the same pairing. Thats a recipe for disaster on most occasions.
In years past it has been easier for the Komets to hide the defensive short comings of a guy like Warner because we have never had a problem with scoring when we needed a goal. This season we also have the NHL rules called games which has really hurt the team as well. Last I checked, he was second on the team in penalty minutes! He (and many other K's, to be fair) has not been able to get away with what they did last season while trying to make up for a mistake. Games in the IHL resembled more of a rugby scrum on most nights. This season you have to stay in good position and make up for a mistake with speed rather than your stick or hands.
I think the defensive problems also stem from the set plays the K's have for moving the puck out of the zone. Trying to get a pass 3/4 of the way thru the neutral zone from behind your net is going to fail 9 times out of 10 in this league on most nights. Most teams make 2-3 quick passes to move the puck out of thier zone and up the ice. That works.

Any explanation for the post-game video last night? Seemed a bit of a punch in the pills to the team (which they deserved)...just shocked they played it.
...in order to avoid the traffic this year, I actually stay until the END of the game.

Absolutely Blake. Do you like those home run passes, out of curiousity?
Chaulk just scored on the PP

there is so much talk about warner bc everyone keeps talking. it's something everyone has a side on, and it keeps being brought up.
bring up something like guy, drouin, sims, graham, ...the list goes on and on. people would take sides over and over again on all of those people too if they kept being brought up.
wow, there is some thinking.

No, JR. Once, twice a game, when they have some surprise value, but not nearly as often as they are attempted.

Alan, Great point about comparison to Ron Ullyot. I could never understand why fans criticized him so much. He was good as a player here and pretty decent coach as well, both here and in Port Huron.
Hockey fan for life said: "They just want to win with the least amount of effort they can give."
This is what the Komets did the last 3 years, and it worked. They got pushed at times in the playoffs, but were able to increase their effort enough to overcome it. Doesn't look like a winning strategy this year.

Let's bring back Berty, too.
