Al Sims isn't raising the roof yet, but he was not too happy with tonight's performance, a 4-1 loss to Dayton. Despite 45 shots, the Komets could only manage Sean O'Connor's first goal of the season, and that came when the score was already 3-0.
``It's just the same old struggle to score,'' Sims said. ``We made some bad mistakes defensively that cost us a couple of goals.''
Did his team have good chances to score? ``Yes. We had four power plays in the third period and only scored on one of them.''
``Reiter played really well, stopped a penalty shot and a breakway. He didn't have a chance on the three goals.''
Asked what Dayton looked like, Sims said, ``Small and fast just like we saw in the exhibition games. Nothing really surprised us.''
The Komets play at Evansviille on friday

Miz scores 2-1.....ugh keep fighting Ks
My gosh we are getting dominated at shots!!!!
Who the heck is Naturo?
Big goose egg for the weekend....
Somebody get the fan warmed up because somethings about to hit it...
Komets lose 2-1 and earn 0 out of 6 possible points this weekend. Congrats to NAIF on his win!
No reason to worry yet, Franke's haven't told us to
Just another loss.
It's ok, they just aren't getting any bounces.
They are squeezing their sticks too tight.
We just need to be patient.
Let's just wait until Christmas and see where we are.
No need to make any changes.
This team is loaded.
Curadeau is the best top-line center in the league. His need to choke onto his stick is the possible problem for his woes and his horrible +/-.
He just has his hands too tightly wrapped around his stick.
Brandon Warner even talked about holding onto his stick too tight. BWs problem with his stick is that he has his hands clamped onto it so tightly, that he can't score.
Everyone is grabbing their sticks too hard.
Warner said once they score 5 or 6 goals, this thing will work itself out. Nothing to worry about. He just thinks guys are grasping onto their sticks with too forceful of a grip. He thinks that the stick might be being touched too violently.
If we wait for them to score 5 or 6 goals, that might happen in the next 5 or 6 games as they only score a goal a game.
Would someone stop gripping their stick so dang hard.
Soft and Loose boys, Soft and Loose.
BW shouldve been gone a long time ago!!!! Whoever was the Gm of that so called team that was going to call him up has to be fired by now!!!! I still believe talent is there but for one reason or another things are clicking whether its in locker room coach or whatever.....if a trade or whatever has to happen so be it.....
If you want to see the komets have a good chance to win they should beat Arizona this coming friday night at home. I predict they will beat Arizona at home this friday night. I am planning on going.
well, the boys scored the trifecta this week...3 games..3 loses...but hey, we aren't supposed to worry yet!! here's hoping for future miracles!
btw true fans of any sport continue to support their team no matter what......i of all fans know that being a browns fan my whole life....i for one wont give up on the Ks....been down the rough road before with teams continue to show support and see what happens
Um..I don't see anyone giving up on the K's
On the plus side, we don't have to worry about losing one of our players to call up anytime soon :)
Where's Burgee?
He needs to award Naif his 1st place prize for winning!!!
Steve: Since you asked, I had a look at some of the old blog entries. You're right in that there was never a quote from the Frankes or Sims saying, "Curadeau is the new Chaulk." I think fans made that connection more than anything. As I recall, a lot of people were speculating how the Komets would make up for Chaulk's absence. After Curadeau was signed, if the topic came up, there was always someone insisting that they were confident Curadeau would more than make-up for losing Chaulk. And yes, Sims and the Frankes did talk to him about taking on more of a leadership role when they signed him. I found this in a post by Blake right after Curadeau was signed:
--------------------------------------------------------
On showing more leadership:
Thanks Wendy, good work. It just shows part of the fun and dangers of speculation. Also shows that if something gets repeated enough we start to believe it even though in this case there isn't a whole lot of distance between fact and speculation.
It is still obvious that he needs to step up in one manner or another. Not everyone is cut out to be a leader and if they were we would be having problems as a result on top of the current problems. Leader or not, he does need to be a scorer and that's not happening yet. That, IMO, is more important then leadership skills in him.
