Komets PA...Are you sure that's Shoebottom? It looks like Todd Strueby throwing bombs with Todd Hawkins.

Komets PA...my fault, the top picture is Shoebottom. I was looking at the other picture.

I almost forgot how low the glass was on the sides....
Then I remembered sitting to the right of the Komets bench one night and getting hit by a puck that barely cleared the glass along the side. It left a nice round impression below my left shoulder, and stung like crazy!

Just a quick qestion.
Where did Kevin Ulanski sign? He is not listed on the Colorado Eagles training camp roster. Their camp opened today.
Does anyone know where he is in the hockey world?

I sure miss having the ref and linesman's names on the back of their jerseys.

He told me he'd either re-sign with Colorado or retire and he was leaning toward retirement.

Back when minor league hockey was about emotion, rivalries, and violence. Now you'll be lucky if anything is genuine. Explains why so many hockey clubs are closing their doors.

Thanks, Blake.
I wish kevin Ulanski well during his retirement. He was a skilled player, for sure. I always hoped the Komets would be able to get him before his career ended.
Something for the K's brass to think about may be just to stay in touch. Sometimes a player will retire and then, not long after, those competitve juices start flowing again. The same holds true with Curadeau. It never hurts to be proactive. Nothing to lose.
PatrickHF, I understand your thought. However, hockey clubs have been "folding" for years and in all types of "hockey" eras and leagues. I don't believe there is a common denominator that can be deduced.

Speaking of the Eagles... It should be interesting to see how they do this year in the ECHL. A lot of holdovers from last seasons CHL team.

Ulanski won't move away from Denver because of family reasons, and I don't blame him.
If passion was all it took there would not have been five or six teams already in Muskegon and Toledo. There's so much more to it than that. In fact, that was likely the worst era for attendance just about everywhere if you remember.

Teresa 215,
I wish the officials still had their names on the jerseys also.
I always thought that was one of those "little things" that made hockey unique when I started attending games on a regular basis some 25 years ago.

Yes, but you can't tell me if today's CHL had the characters and style of play of 10-20 years ago, that it wouldn't be better off.
The hockey of the CoHL, UHL, IHL, brought about a lot of great memories. But fast forward to today - how often do we see games where there's hardly any body checking, let alone any snarl or drama?
I'll take rough & tumble hockey over "skilled play" any day. That's just me.
