The CHL is going to announce the all-star game starters on Wednesday and the reserves on Thursday. As a first-place club, it's a fair guess that the Komets should have one starter (whic

Why Auger? He isn't one of the top 3 or 4 players on the komets let alone in the league. Smith and Boucher should start.

Boucher leads all CHL goalies in wins, save %, goals against and shutouts=All Star starter no brainer.

An all-star game in hockey has morphed into a scoring exhibition of sorts. It's been that way for some time now.

No one could argue that Boucher deserves to be there. Statistics, alone, demand his strict consideration.

As for me, when I give it some thought, I think Smith has shown by his play, leadership, and scoring that he deserves the honor.

However I can't argue with any of the choices above. Boucher, Smith, Auger, Chaumont, Milam, and Rizk have all had a real nice first half of the season.

Aside from Boucher, does anyone else find it interesting that all the others mentioned are newcomers?

The team had a three day rest coming in to tonight's contest. Coming back to home ice to begin a four game in five night stretch that includes a road game in Evansville sandwiched between a home game vs. Missouri and another home game vs. Bloomington.

Tonight the Komets begin this stretch of games with last place Bloomington. To me, this is the ultimate "trap" game. It sure would be easy to be just a little bit lazy as they get back into the "flow". Overlooking Bloomington would be a tremendous mistake. Because Bloomington has to make the bus ride, I would look for them to be mentally ready by the time the game begins. I wonder how ready the Komets will be?

It would be a shame if they squandered these points tonight. Yet, without the proper mind-set, I think it could be very possible. Bloomington is a pretty good team who started slow but has made up for a lot of lost ground lately. Those types of teams are very dangerous.

We'll learn something (or at least I will) about the Komets by their effort tonight.

Alan, I don't disagree with what you are saying but I don't think they are looking at intangibles as much as they look at almost exclusively numbers. I think Boucher is a lock, and Smith an outside chance. I don't know how having two Komets in the starting lineup will go over with the rest of the CHL. LOL

I can guarantee the Komets won't have two starters unless there is a late injury to another starter.

Because everybody gets a green ribbon. Bloomington's best player (Booras) would be third on the Komets in scoring.

Why don't they just take the top 10 fowards and 7 defenseman in scoring and start them based on points... top 3 goalies by stats in each conference.

Does anybody care about these worthless games anyway?

Smith as reserve

andy sherman, you are probably correct.

Hey Blake, help me out a little.

Rizk should've come off IR on 12/20 or 12/21. Auger should've come off today. Yet nowhere do I see in the transactions either an activation for these two, nor do I see a move to put either on an extended IR. What gives?

Others have asked the same question yet there never seems to be an update. The very last I heard was that Rizk had started skating again. What about Auger? Is there any timetable on his return?

Missouri signs Simoes and Lewis is off the IR. This could make for a interesting game.

Here's what I guess they are doing with the IR. I think they are waiting until someone else gets hurt to activate Rizk and/or Auger, giving them more time for conditioning, especially coming off four days off. If they activated both and released or put two others on IR, you just know the first game back two other players would be injured and then they'd have to go short-handed for a while because those other two would not be eligible to come off. This way, Rizk and Auger are eligible to come off at any time, which is key considering they are facing I think it's eight games in 11 days. I haven't had a chance to check with anyone in management yet today, though. That's just an educated guess of how the Ks usually approach this situation.

I'm torn as who I think the starter should be. On the one hand, there's Nick Boucher. As Andy posted earlier, Bouch leads all CHL goalies in wins, save %, goals against and shutouts. That's a major point in favor of being the starter representative for the Komets. On the other hand, you have Brett Smith. 35 points scored. He's sitting on a plus 16. Fairly decent on the power play, too. He could also be the starter representative for the Komets. I'm just not sure which one should have the honor.

verbatim, we're here, qoute "franke" to field a championship team that wins the crowd, not put people in the all-star game. Win me games, no matter your role, sacrfice. Make me look like I made the right decision. quote un qoute.

Interesting quote orange though a bit hard to follow. Which "franke" (assuming you meant Franke) are you quoting and when/where was this said or published?

A hint for you, if you use quotation marks you don't have to write quote unquote.
