The Komets won in Port Huron 3-1 tonight to pull within four points of the first-place IceHawks with a game in hand. Rick Varone, Olivier Legault and Mathieu Curadeau scored for the Komets who won for the 20th time on the road this season. That's the third season in a row they've done that.
"We had to come up here and win, and we got the win in the third," Komets coach Al Sims said. "It's a huge win for our group. I think a loss here could have made first place very unattainable."
Nick Boucher continued his mastery of Port Huron with 34 saves. The Komets are 12-2 over the past two years in Port Huron, and Boucher is 10-1. The Komets are 6-1 there this season, and Boucher is 5-1.
"He just continued with the way he's been playing," Sims said. "Over the last month he's definitely been the best goalie in the league by a mile and he proved it again tonight."
Sims also credited new defenseman Rod Aldoff with a strong performance.

Boucher is the BEST goaltender in the league, without a doubt. Get behind him folks he is going to carry us to the promised land.
if he continues his hot play, Laplante better play well in his few starts he will get the rest of the way. Boucher has taken over the No. 1 slot..
