Bus trip deadline approaching

What better way to sleep off Thursday's feast than by taking a nap on a bus ride to Muskegon? Time is running out for those who'd like to go to Friday's game at the Lumberjacks. Plus, you get a private showing of the Schebig and Burgee comedy show including foo foo drinks. (Yet again, Burgee is finding a way to avoid work.) On the way home, you can listen to Schebig snore (put shaving cream on his face.)

Bus will leave at 2 p.m. from Komet Kuarters. No alcohol permitted. Cost is $40 and includes your ticket to the game. Dinner will be at Old Country Buffet in Wyoming, Mich. If 55 people fail to sign up, the money will be refunded. You can sign up at Komet Kuarters. Any questions? Call Dennis Schebig at 471-3227 during the day or 749-2022 during the evenings. You can also ask questions on the blog and I'm sure he'll answer them.

Plus, it's a great way to avoid all the hassle of shopping.

Last time I was on a bus trip I was a senior in high school and the bathroom window slid open so we were shooting mooners out the window when passing people. Will there be any of that on this trip? Are we allowed to bring beef jerkey? Is there a light in the restroom? I like to catch up on periodicals in there. Will parking at KK be an issue since its black friday? Are we allowed to bring chips and Guac on the bus? HOLR!!!!!! Does anyone have one of those loud annoying horns to bring so we can blow it when we score?

Something about watching Chaulk fight in that clip makes me feel like Nicole Kidman in "Far and Away". ;) "Kill 'em, Colin!"

But what is it with that noise that sounds like dogs barking? I always hear that on the radio feed and wonder if it's "Bring Your Dog to the Game" night.

Wow....look at all those empty seats down low!!!!! Lame crowd.

And can someone explain to me why Colin got all those penalties for that fight? I understand the 5 minute major....that's an obvious one. But what was the unsportsmanlike for? And not tying down the jersey? Are we talking about the ties on the front, or tucking it in? I'm afraid I have not heard of anyone getting a penalty for that one before, so I need to be educated on that one before the next one happens! Thanks!

BLB - On the inside of your Jersey in the back lower portion there is a string of some sort to tie down your jersey to your shorts. And it is an automatic misconduct if it is not tied. Now I don't know if that rule only applies during a fight though.

I have seen several times when a Jersey has come over a guys head and have not been called for it. So I don't know what the exact stipulation is.

Although it is a penalty, I think it was just the ref being an idiot

I've always wondered about that, too. I knew that players could get a penalty for not having it tied down, and it seems like the simpliest thing in the world, yet from time to to time, guys gets called for it. I suppose it can come undone, but I'm wondering if some guys just prefer to leave it untied and take the gamble, though I really don't know if or why that would be the case. And why, for that matter, is it so important to have it tied down in the first place? Usually, the only time it gets called is during a fight when someone gets their jersey pulled up.

You can get away with not tying down the sweater until you get it pulled over your head (in a fight) There is a loop in the back of the pants it must be hooked threw. If the tiedown is torn or the loop brakes during the altercation there is no penalty. I hope that helps you all understand that rule. The purpose is twofold. #1 to keep a player from getting the sweater pulled over his head and get hit with punches he can not see. #2 Modesty is the decorum on the ice. That is for the fans in the stands.

BUS TRIP CANCELLED: I want you all to know I tried everything I could to get a full bus for the trip. 14 seats sold is a long way from filling the bus up. So I had to make a tough call and cancel the trip and cut my losses. Anyone wanting a ticket to the game I can save you some money. I have 57 that I will sell at a huge discount. I will have them at the game Thursday. For those who purchased a seat I will refund your money. If you wrote a check Komet Quarters still has your check. If you paid cash they will refund your money. Anyone not picking it up I will refund your money by a check on Friday. Thank you ALL very much.

I could only get 4 of my homies to commit, most just didn't like the long drive even though they were riding.

Burgee--Thanks! We tried. I really didn't have choice! If you and some friends still want to go I will drive.

Thanks Dennis. That does help. But I still have to say... Isn't #1 kind of it's own punishment? And #2 modesty? That's like getting excited over seeing a woman flash her ankles. :D

BLB, = the tie down rule is because of a player Rob Ray, he made it easy for his jersey to come off so it would be hard to grab him during a fight. It used to be an option if the jersey was tied down or not.The first tie-downs used to be a loop that hooked to a button type. Then they went to a double snap type that hooks to the pants.Robin Bawa used to use a skate sting to tie his jersey down./Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Thanks for the jersey tie down answers, by the way....that makes sense. I always hate seeing the jersey up around their head and punches getting thrown when the guy can't see 'em coming! Seems really unfair, sorta sucker-punching. So I get the rule. Just seems it is arbitrarily enforced. But at least I am now informed!

Wendy--It's not the ankles it is what they are attached too.
