Komets General Manager David Franke said, ``P.C. has had a heck of acareer with us. He's had a great hockey career.
``I think it's just a time we've started the process of rebuilding the club, getting new faces, getting some younger people in. We have to start developing players that will want to play for the Komets for 3-4-5-6 years just like he did. We need to start looking in that direction.''
He said the Komets do not have to make another move before Saturday and do not plan to. They have no interest in Garrett Klotz. They have not talked to Jimmy Bonneau or anyone else right now in an AHL camp. ``That's not happening.''

So they were forced to IR Warner because Starenky was the first to the IR and that automatically makes him #1 on the roster of 19.....I think that is what I gathered from Y2K. So Warner is on the IR as #20, and we have 18...... no wait, we still have one too many if what Y2K was saying is correct....
Do you know for sure Blake? They have 21 players right now...2 on IR makes them at 19, but is there some new rule that says your first guy on IR goes towards your roster?
Klotz would be interesting.
He isn't going to add much to the offense so I am not sure the Komets would want to take up a roster spot with a guy who can't put 15-20 in the net. But the guy can skate and like Bonneau is an upgrade over a traditional goon.
CHL roster Rules: 19 active, 18 on game day. Each team has two 10-day options and one 14-day option for players. There also are two 30-day slots and a season-ending injury position.
he CHL limits each team to using six veterans, players who have already played 301 regular-season games going into this season, but the goaltenders do not count toward the veteran limit. There's no minimum number of vets that must be used.
The CHL but uses five "developmental players," defined as any player with fewer than 128 games of professional experience before this season. There's no maximum number of developmental players that must be used.
CHL teams can sign emergency back-up goaltenders to five-game contracts that do not count against the active roster.
Players being sent down from the AHL or NHL can sign five-game contracts which do not count against the active roster.
Got your answer on the other thread Blakes, thanks.
Y2K=Wrong
Mighty 0/Franke Force 1
Colin Chaulk not happy. :(
BWs not a forward either.
Komet Warrior see RBS and Chief and Burger Chef today.
Blakes called half of todays cuts on weekend to OHIC.
LOL
My understsnding of the roster rule is that we may carry 19 players 18 of which are active players. But not counting anyone IR towards the roster until they are activated. we sit at 19 healthy players
How was a wrong?
``Also found out that the first guy you IR can NOT be replaced on the active roster;'' Not true.
Honestly I would have kept PC because you know exactly what you will get out of him...With Leo I am never sure which Leo will show up game by game and see him more of a liabiltiy than PC. Definately not a "comfort" move by the K's organization
I wasnt wrong then because that came from rich kromm when asked by icemen fans on there weekly show.
Rich Kromm was wrong...to make you wrong.....to make me wrong to ask Blakes the Question.
Like a domino affect.
Need to email the league to confirm our wrongness
I already did.
You know what's not wrong? Warner is terrible and should have been cut before Drouin.
Id rather keep P.C put him back on D and cut warner. He needs help.
Thanks to PC Drouin for what he did here while a Komet... Good luck if he should decide to play his last season somewhere else...
Thanks to the Komets brass for keeping with their commitment to going with a younger and hungrier lineup...
They did have the guts to cut one vet.... Bravo! I was wrong, I didnt think they had the guts to cut Drouin; but they did...
Oh yaeh they kept warner and leo..... they should have kept PC. Rotten deal. I think the frankes have made a big mistake. It may bite them in the butt.
PC I want to thank you for all that you have done on the ice and off. You are a class act. Some of the fans will miss you terriable.
Good luck in whatever decision you make. If you do go somewhere else I will yell for you..
I never said Klotz, Bonneau was early in summer.
Keep score= mightbite 4 / franke 1
Henley + Legault + Milam + Woods + others before they were announced=Cescon + DeAngelis + Chaulk + Thomas & others. The 1st four players franke said no & they came. I will take my record any day BUCKOS :)
The Thunder traded defenseman Craig Cescon and forward Matt Whitehead to the Bloomington Blaze in exchange for future considerations and waived defenseman Adam Bartholomay. The Thunder also placed forwards Dustin Donaghy, Chris Greene and Robin Richards on injured reserve.
I really hope he signs with someone else, and crams this decision right down Frankes throat.
cutting P.c. drouin. what were they thinking? hes not as bad as some of the other guys. i doubt he had many years left. kinda wrong of them to cut him and not even give him time for redemption and let him finish strong.
I've never claimed to be the smartest man in the world and I wouldn't claim to be the dumbest either. I am somewhere in between, and because of that fact, I need some help in trying to figure out the K's roster today.
My problem isn't necessarily with the decision to release P.C. Drouin. I've already commented on my choices and the reasons for them.
My problem is not with whom they've released, but rather with whom they have kept.
Someone needs to help me with the logic ( and I'm a big believer in logic) used for putting Brandon Warner on the IR instead of just plain releasing him. I can't think of one thing he has done to provide for his roster spot. I reject all the "he has shown great improvement through the training camp-exhibition games" malarky. He is what he is. He will be what he's always been. He has a nice shot. He also plays a reckless style with poor passing and a habit of abandoning his defensive position. He wasn't judged good enough to join the team last season in the playoffs, and wasn't valued enough for the Komets to protect him this year. Yet here he is just the same.
I have tried to think this out. I can only come up with a "salary cap" reason or excuse. Still, I don't think that is the reason. If he wants to play cheap, then it might be a consideration, I suppose. If it is some kind of loyalty to him, then as nice as that would be, it would be an insult to P.C. Drouin. So I don't think "loyalty" is the answer either. There are plenty of defensemen out there in the hockey world. What this roster could use is a good "stay at home" defenseman. He certainly is not that either.
The schedule provides for only two games in the month of October, but will get real busy starting November the fourth.
The Franke's need to get real busy searching hockeyland for another defenseman.
So, in closing, a very hard choice was made today by letting P.C. Drouin go. Good luck to P.C. in the future and thanks for the memories you have given us.
A much easier choice needs to be made just as Moses told the Pharoah, "Let my Warner go".
I'm sick, both in the head & gut.Last year we put a guy on playoff roster that has a bad shoulder & say Warner is not good enough. Then we bring back the guy that was not good enough & cut PC. No fighters on this current roster. Now I'm mad & sick. Franke says no players in sight.
We're short a Dman... Cescon was available for trade for "future considerations. He should be heading back to FW. Not Bloomy.
warner is the new troy neumeier, except neumeier didnt have hip injuries.
http://centralhockeyleague.com/pressroom/news/?article_id=6966
this may of lead to the Cescon trade #2
Bogus deal for PC. I am bummed about this.
Alan, if Warner was injured while playing and they put him on IR then they cant release him until after he comes off IR. If he wouldn't have got injured they coulda released him today.
And PC got a bum deal!
I think we are 2 solid experienced d men short from being solid back there. Right now we are going with Milam who has experience with only DeAngelis and Warner having anymore than a season of real pro hockey under their belt. That is GREEN folks. This team cannot afford to have a bad start going young back there and expect better results than last season IMO. And lets be honest, Warner and Frankie make their share of rookie-like mistakes still, despite Frankies' great offensive upside...lets hope there is something on the way soon!
They kept Warner for the sole purpose of Starenky going on IR. They IR Warner so they wouldn't have to release him becasue the team is short on defenseman. If they would have not IR him then another forward would have been cut. So by the time Warner gets off IR either they will be healthy at defense or another d-man will come from AHL camp or something to that effect. Then Warner will be released unless there is another injury.
