It never seemed right to see you lineup for a face off in a Kzoo jersey. Nor did it seem right for the season to start last week without No. 2 in the lineup. Your records speak for themselves. Most will never be broken. But granted the on ice accolades are unbelievable, your community efforts are what really shine. Your efforts and time to support several community projects represent why Komet hockey is part of the community. Keeping your love for family, God, the community and the team all in perspective is your finest accomplishment.

Guy, you were always one of my favorites on the ice and off the ice. I took my Grandson to Vince's, and he was totally in awe of you when you signed the photo and asked him where he went to school. Best of luck. We miss you at the Coliseum, but we are glad you are still part of our community!

Thanks Guy. It was great last year at Canlan when you took a couple of minutes before practice to sign a sports card of you for my son and spoke with us. Your #2 is what I decided to have on my new jersey and you will always be my favorite player. Your what Komets hockey has been and always will be about. Enjoy your retirement from hockey.

I have been going to komets games since I was in 2nd grade. One of my best memories is going out to eat with my grandma and having Guy and Scott Gruhl sit with us. That was early in his career but I will never forgot how nice he was. He was always so classy and always made time for his fans. Thanks for all the memories!!!

Guy, I want to take a moment to offer my thanks and good wishes.
No one, and I mean no one, will ever match the records you have set for the Fort Wayne Komets franchise during your career in the "old" IHL, the UHL, the "new" IHL, and the CHL.
Saturday Night, October 29, 2011, your number will be placed among other Komet greats and will stay there as long as there are hockey fans attending Fort Wayne Komet games. It is a well deserved honor and recognition for your on ice accomplishments.
It's too bad that banners are not raised for those who give of themselves so freely for the good of the community. Your caring and unselfish manner, that you have displayed over so many years, is an inspiration to us all. Your love for God, your family, and your community is truly a blessing for us all, and a benchmark that we should all try to reach.
Guy, when the banner is raised, it will display the number 2 which you so nobly wore here in Fort Wayne. But, if they did raise banners for those who committed themselves in areas far beyond the game of hockey, your banner would display the number 1.
From my daughter, son, and myself we echo the sentiments of so many others by saying " Thank you" for all you have done to make the Komets a premier franchise in all of hockey, and more importantly, for making Fort Wayne and the surrounding community a better place to live.

I am honored that Ive been lucky enough to not only watch Guy play but to get to know him as a person, that is what I cherish most. What he's done on the ice speaks for itself but who he is off the ice is even more impressive. A loving husband, father, and child of both his mother and of God, Guy is someone we could only hope to be like.
My favorite Guy memory has to be a couple years back after a Sunday afternoon game in Flint, MI we stopped for dinner at a Wendy's a couple of towns south of Flint when the Komets bus showed up. Guy came over and ate dinner with us sharing great stories until a few of the younger players started making a scene (something about someone stealing the others cookies) in a restraunt full of elderly who had just left church. One of the guys dropped an F-Bomb and Guy said in his dad voice "Everyone on the bus, NOW!!" and all the players ran out of the door, he was so intimidating I about to get on that bus too.
The blue line will never be the same without #2 standing guard. I know I will miss that big smile of his after he nets a slapper from the point. Thank you for all the great memories both on and off the ice.

Thank you, Guy, for everything you've done for the Komets. I'm a fairly recent convert to Komet Hockey fandom, but I will always remember watching you skate onto the ice with such grace and your classy behavior on and off the ice.
