I don't know if anyone else heard it, but a few weeks back when Warner was on the radio he said that he played some goalie coming up through the ranks and that he was pretty decent at it. I wonder who would be the guy to suit up if we ever had to recruit one from the team to take the spot?

Well, I just posted under "Did You Guys See This One", and having the IR rules changed maybe answers a couple of questions I had regarding the roster. Apparently I was posting when this topic was being added. If you wish to read my post I would like to know your opinions on how the roster will shape up.

I have never understood the IR rules and how it all is used and not used, but I have always felt that one needed to have a legit injury to be placed on one..Putting guys on IR to "hide" them seems to be an abusive power. I know it is a way to "save" money and such, but it seems to me with them adding more spots it is for guys to be placed on them to hide them...I am sure this done in other sports to..I for one think the way Legualt was handle last season was wrong for the most part.

There are a lot of factors involved and usually, it's not as one-sided as it sounds because the player has a choice. They can either go on IR or be released. Some choose to be released. The benefits to staying are you get the same pay, there's no guarantee there's another job out there and maybe your girlfriend lives here and you don't want to leave her. Or your kids are in school here.

A couple of years ago the league tightened up the IR rules because it was thought the rich teams ( insert the word "Komets" here ) had an advantage because they could afford to "hide" players on the various IR lists. The league decided to get more strict and lessen the number of players a team could place on them without counting against the cap. The problem is, and the league found out, that severely restricting the IR rules also hurt the teams. Muskegon is a good example this year. They have had a ton of injuries, some call-ups, and together it lessens the talent level in the league. The IHL is concerned (as it should be) to present a good "product" on the ice. So the league is in a catch-22 position. If they limit the IR rules they think they make it more fair for all teams, if they don't limit the IR rules they think they may lessen the talent in the league. They can't win and they just do the best they can. I can see both points of view and there is no easy answer. I think the new IR additions may help the K's this season as they try to stretch the roster level the rest of the year.

I am sure any player that is given a choice to be either released or put on IR he is going to choose IR, who wouldn't? I agree Alan pure catch 22 for the league...
