Just talked to David Franke who said he was looking over a first draft of the schedule, and he confirmed the Komets will open against Rapid City in Fort Wayne on Oct. 16.

Nice. I think everyone wanted that.
I am ready NOW! Let the fun begin!
Bring...it...on!
Like I said the other day. "There's no way Rapid City will come to Fort Wayne opening night." "It doesn't make sense".
Oops!
I think Colorado might have something to say about the "clash of the titans".
As 2005 or 2007 champs?
Or being knocked out of the Playoffs in the first round last year.
2 FIGHTS OFF THE OPENING FACEOFF :)
Champions? Titans?
Bogus - Too many different players - at least for the Komets.
to many new players for the Komets? 9 returning with the chance for 12 if Dupuis, DeAnglis and Warner re-sign. And i am counting Curadeau since he's been here for 2 other championships.
"Clash of the Titans"? I know that David Franke did not intend to generate laughter with that comment, but I laughed my backside off. The CHL was awful hockey last year and it will be awful hockey this year. Tomas Klempa averaged nearly a point a game last year in the CHL. If that is the caliber of hockey that David Franke expects me to get excited about, he is dead wrong.
Indy K's fan -- Would you get more excited if we play Dayton on Opening Night? I'm looking forward to it for the game...should be neat playing a different opponent for a change.
Indy ks fan - i would love nothing more than to be in AHL or ECHL. I will continue to express those desires at times without a doubt, as i am sure others will too. HOWEVER. does everything you say have to be so degrading and revolting towards the Komets? The deal for this year is done. The komets will play in the CHL
With that said you can either support it or dont. I will support. Perhaps wont go to as many games, but i will follow along on radio, computer, and in papers avidly. You obviously can not stand this league.. I totally respect that. Don't go to the games perhaps. Toward the end of the season come back to the boards and start expressing your concerns on the league again. BUT WHY on earth are you here pestering people who clearly want to watch it this year?. No good can come from your obnoxious constant ridicule of this league at this point.
No, I would not. I would be more excited if they were playing Cincinnati on opening night. I would be more excited if they were playing K-zoo on opening night. I would be more excited if they were playing Toledo on opening night. I would be more excited if they were playing Chicago on opening night. When the Frankes bolted the old IHL for the UHL, they indicated that it was because they were committed to minimizing travel costs. There are more teams within an easy bus commute in the ECHL than the CHL and the caliber of play is much better. As I have said several times before, the Ks are the Franke's team and they can do with it what they want. However, when they say one thing and do another, I am entitled to express my opinion. When they commit to a league that is a half step below last year's IHL when they could have joined a leauge that was a half step above, I have the right to express my opinion. I don't expect everyone to agree with me, but I still have a right to say it.
Klempa never got a real shot here......
This game market's itself....
No brainer really, IMO... Yes it would be a sell out regardless of the opponent; but this one kicks off the 'endeavour' quite nicely if you ask me... 'Clash of the Titans' mat be going a lil overboard; but thats what advertiser's do. The casual crowd will eat that stuff up and gobble up tickets quick. The CIHL collective can really go all out on this one and promote this one like a title fight for thier CHL internet tv thing...
Blake, another question for ya.... Is the IHL portion of the CIHL 'endeavour' still going to utilize the B2 network for games on the internet or will all games in the 'endeavour' be broadcast on the CHL Network??? Thanks in advance...
I'll ask JR. I've been told CHL TV is very good but have not seen it to judge.
Lets Go KOMETS I'M Ready to go this makes real sence the best of both meet on opening night.
I post on this blog because I grew up watching Komet hockey and have become sick over the events of the last few months. I also post on this blog because I believe that this country is still the USA where one has the right to express one's opinions regardless of their popularity. I also post on this blog because some people could learn a thing or two from actually considering the viewpoints of those who disagree with them rather than drinking the kool-aid that the Frankes continually offer Ks fans. Like it or not komets123, I am going to continue posting on this blog to express my opinon. If Blake chooses to not post my ramblings, that is his right, but I am not going away because you don't like what I say. I don't like much of what many people say on here, but I will never ask anyone to stop saying it.
I never told you to stop posting on here. relax.. take a pill. You can put your "free speech" argument away.. i was simply suggesting that your argument and stance at this juncture and in this blog is likely useless. Not only IMO is it useless, but most of what you say seems to be designed to only infuriate other bloggers.
I completely agree with having your opinion heard. You have been heard several times. I agree with many of your thoughts in fact. (not all however). Just seems rude at some point to keep piling it on at every opportunity.
So, not trying to tread on your god and country given right to have yourself heard.. by all means.. speak... I am suggesting that you perhaps come off as being rude when all you do is bash the league and komets on this site..
Most likely you are not trying to, but by bashing anything and everything ya come off as being an internet troll.
lets just play hockey already, Im sick of all the crying weither we are in the IHL,CHL,AHL,ECHL or even the "NHL" people will still have something to cry about. I still dont understand why people thin the AHL would be so great, it would be like watching the NBADL of the NHL and paying alot more to watch the good players go out the door.
Had to pass this along........ Check out this article from the QC Times.....

I wonder what the powers that be have to say about this??? The Komets seem to be the only organization still clamoring on about being a 'member of the IHL operating under the CHL monikor' stuff...
Quote by Mallards CEO Bill Davidson from the QC times...
"CEO:
Another one bites the dust..
wow.. good find JR.
New Quad City Guys just threw the IHL under the CHL BS a huge beatdown.
Ouch.......the sound coming from a Franke after he read that.
Ding Dong the IHL is dead......I think, Maybe?
It is high time that the Frankes put the IHL to bed and embrace the CHL as it is.
Enough with this in every dang press release:
"The Komets will continue to be a member of the International Hockey League and participate in the Central Hockey League under the CHL moniker in the Northern Conference."
Even Dayton had a press release announcing 3 player signings and they had language that was anti-IHL.....saying the Gems are a proud member of the CHL.
Ding Dong I say, Ding Dong......sing it with me....Come on David and Michael and Hextall and Company......Ding Dong the IHL is dead.
No offense, but what really is the point? Do we really have to be the little brat kid hockey team that has to always have his way and play under his own rules and own league under another moniker.....???
Just tell us why Mr. Franke and Mr. Franke respectively? All kidding aside. What is the point?
The point is, they are keeping their options open for the time that a Paul PICKard..less(making sure I spell it right lol) Kzoo organization and a few other midwest teams fall on their faces or decide they have had it with long travel. Then the IHL can resurface with 8-10 teams within a 12 hour bus ride of each other. The Komets don't have to be followers like other organizations. We'll see how Quad Cities does with the travel and other potential cost increases.
Biggest difference between the Komets and just about every other minor league hockey franchise in North America...not all but just about..
The Komets could finish dead last this year, suffer an attendance drop of 50% and the city of Fort Wayne would have little fear about the team being viable and returning the following season.
Can Quad City and their new owners say that? What about the likes of Rockford and Peoria if they don't continue to remain affiliated or their affiliates cease to help cover their financial loses?
The Komets can say they are holding onto the IHL because they can afford to both financially and otherwise.
The thing is, why would teams in the midwest leave the relative security of a 18-20 team league (like the ECHL) for an unknown 6-10 team league when they have been playing a schedule that closely resembles what the K's are looking to play this year? The travel is going to be looking just about the same... Whats the sales pitch? The IHL's idea of a limited travel bus league has so far failed in a down economy that it should have theoretically flourished in???
