The Komets' only roster move today was to waive defenseman Brad Pawlowski. Komets general manager David Franke said the team is contacting All-American Hockey League teams to see if they have any interest in the rookie if he clears waivers.
``We'd like to keep him in the States,'' Franke said. ``He wants to play pro and we'd like to have him develop more and be where if we need him in a pinch we can get him. We're trying to see what's out there for him. He could get picked up by somebody in our league.''
Other than that, the Komets are waiting to hear from Columbus before making any more moves. Blue Jackets assistant general manager Chris McFarland is flying back from Springfield today.
``We're holding off to see if we're going to get anybody,'' Franke said. ``If we're not that will make our decision that much easier. If we get somebody we'll go one way, if we don't we'll go another.''
Leo Thomas did not skate at practice today because of a sore groin, and Sean O'Connor was out of town for a personal reason, but both are expected back tomorrow. Keith Rodger also skated today for the first time after missing the first week with a back injury.
``I think he's fine and feels a lot better than he did before,'' Franke said. ``I think he'll be OK and good to go the rest of the week.''
Komets coach Al Sims said of Rodger, ``He looked good. His back is still a little bit tiggt but feeling better every day.
I think Rodg has to be given an opp to show what he can do and we don't want to do taht tuntil 100 percent. He's going to get an opp.

Well, thats interesting.
I certainly didn't think he'd be the first guy cut.
So Cianfirni, Bluhme, Ward, Marple, and Fletcher remain of the rookie class...
Surprised by this move, from what I saw Of Pawlowski I liked.
It does tell me that Rodger is likely to make the opening day roster though.
look at that... I say it and Blake updates with my thoughts. Well said Al... lol.
Oh, crap! I'm reading Jungle Monkey's mind! Run for your lives! I sure picked a lousy time to stop doing (insert drugs, alcohol, meth, whatever here).
Actually, he just called back.
Lol..
Al and I are on the same wavelegnth.
Maybe the K's are releasing him before clubs make their initial cuts hoping he gets thru waivers for that reason??? Kinda sneak him thru and get him signed where they can keep an eye on him...
NHL gamecenter live is free today
Rodger skated friday and saturady at Canlan.

Here is a "tough one" in CHL :)
Check #2 ooops
Does anyone want to bet me that we get Teddy Ruth from the Blue Jackets? He is a former ND hockey player.
Mrs Mightbite here ...
Regarding exchange nights ... this is a truly unethical thing the Frankes have done. To wait until after season ticket holders have purchased tickets and then to change the exchange night equal dollar to $6 tickets smells to say the least. I believe there is a law around this in that if something has been the same for quite some time and then it's changed without notice, it can be contested. This is a $15 per ticket loss for us and you know who's pocketing the money so now they're double dipping because they pocketed our money and then are selling the equal seats to the public and making that $15 again! Hey Frankes ... what's up with this?!?!
Actually, legally, they don't have to offer exchange nights at all on unused tickets. I think it's the right thing to do that they do, but legally they are not required to. Technically, the tickets are only good for that one night just like any movie, theater, concert tickets or whatever. Anybody know how other pro sports teams do it or if they offer exchange nights in the NBA, NHL or MLB?
That's probably an entirely different debate, though.
It kinda stinks I admit, but look at the bright side. The Komets have been around for 50+ years because people have been making the right decisions financially (and the fans rock of course!). Look at all of the other teams that have had to fold especially recently because of economic troubles. I am proud to have the coliseum and first class looking team. I hope this change helps the Komets continue to stay around. (I am not naive to the fact that the Frankes are making more money, but they are BUSINESSMEN. They bought the Komets to make money first and provide Fort Wayne with hockey SECOND.) I can't afford the Komets and until I can I can't complain...
i was surprise that Pawlowski was cut, i figure that Legs would have been cut first.
so was there any discounts in the book of tickets for STH, i was just wondering what i was missing out on. i had my 2 books of tickets for 24 hrs, then returned them since they were the wrong row
McDonalds,Chili's,Champions,Exhaust World,Auntie Anne's are the coupons.
I'm selling most of my tickets :(
I was pretty surprised that he was cut too....looked good Thursday night to me. I did not listen Saturday night...
I am really looking forward to this season!!! Not so much the affiliation, even if it's at least a team I can stand. I just thank God it is not the Red Wings....LOL....I just don't want to lose any players at another team's whim. I'm too spoiled and used to having them here when I want them to be. :) But the thought of someone like a Schrock or Curadeau going up is cool....they deserve it.
Wow Blueline....you waffled on that opinion...which is it??? LOL
Kidding you.
I bet Pawlowski gets picked up by Evansville or Dayton or Quad City.
Evansville picked up Lee Zalasky off waivers from Colorado today.
A young defensive player that is tough and not afraid to drop the mitts.....he will get take, and will haunt us.

Blueline Baby, I want to remind you of an earlier discussion we had regarding the prices of seats etc. Remember the threads that "Not an IHLfan" was posting about value of tickets vs. the quality of league thing?
Please remember that I have invited you to spend a period or two over in 208 so you can compare the sightlines with your seats vs. the costs involved. Obviously Opening Night would not be a good time to do it since it will probably be sold out but I wanted you to know that I have not forgotten that conversation.
Hope to see you and your family soon.
Thanks, Alan!!! I'll do that. I'll pop back on here when I'm coming to another game to find ya when it's less crowded....
And Hit....I did? LOL....I suppose a little. But I do hate the Red Wings. No waffling there, my friend....none at all. Hate them with a passion!! How's that for single-minded? (not simple-minded...)
