Matt Szyroczynski scored two goals and rookie Travis Whitehead scored his first of the season as the Komets beat the Mallards 3-1 before 7,761 fans in Quad City. Guy Dupuis also had two assists, and Tim Haun made 28 saves in goal for his first win of the season.
"I think Chaulker's line played pretty well," coach Al Sims said. "Our power play looked really good, but we didn't get a goal."
The Komets scratched rookie Keith Rodger who's hand was bothering him after Friday's fight, and rookie Frankie DeAngelis played his first game as a Komet. Sims said he looked like a veteran on the blueline.

o"connor is still a rookie??? send the cup now, i forgot, the cup is already here!
Is he a rookie because he started this season as a rookie? Because right now, he has more than 61 games. It must only matter how you start the year....right?
I have no problem with keeping more rookies than anything else right now. We have a great group of rookies. Seriously, has anyone seen a better group of rookies than this? O'Connor, Rodger, Klempa, DeAngelis, Woodard, Schrock, Whitehead, Phillips......Tweeners and Veterans beware. I like seeing these young guys play. The roster decisions are going to be hard.
Haun looked very good tonight in net. He was solid as heck. I feel very confident with him between the pipes. Very Very confindent.
Confident too!!! LOL
Yeah, O'Connor is at 63 games. But did start the season in Kalamazoo with 60 games played. Is that how it works though Blake?
Yes, that's it, Ashley.
I have 7 different Sean O'Connor cards/I hope Bob Sanders plays today.
In case anyone was wondering or cared, the Bloomington goalie is the twin brother of Carlo who is in the NHL.
