Kalamazoo beat them 6-2, but Muskegon lost 6-4 at Bloomington.
A couple of interesting notes:
* Al Sims has 499 wins as a coach in his career, including 244 with the Komets.
* Heading into tonight, over most of the last three seasons the Komets were 19-1-3 against Kalamazoo, including 8-0-3 up there. The last time the Wings had beaten the Komets in regulation in Kalamazoo was Dec. 16, 2006.
* This is really amazing. This weekend the Komets were beaten in back-to-back games in regulation for the first time since Jan. 25 and 26 last season when they lost at Flint and Muskegon. That's absolutely incredible.

Actually, the Komets already lost back-to-back games this season, however not in the same weekend. November 1 they lost 5-4 to Bloomington and then November 7 they lost 6-4 to Muskegon.
i know its early in the season but the franke's better start looking to make some moves we need to get rid of a couple of our so called "D" men and get some good and veterns "D" men back there to protect our goalies we definitly have defence issues right now and getting warner back isnt going to fix the problem thats not enough.
Its early but those give aways look to much like the federal bailout program to me.
It is early, but something might need to be done. I did not watch or listen to the game last night, so I am only going by what I have heard and read. But how on earth do we go 0 for 11 on the Powerplay? That is horrible! I am sure the guys will get things figured out.
The Powerplay did look clueless last night at K-Zoo. Too much standing around...not enough shooting the puck on net. We had a 5-3 that I remember that the Komets got maybe one shot off...I think it was counted as a shot. 3 things killed the Komets last night. Powerplay opportunities that were not cashed in....Defense giveaways allowing easy shots....little or no physical play. K-Zoo out-hit us and outmuscled us all night long. Willis gets 2 goals and you know it is going to be a long night. The Powerplay needs a kick in the butt though....bigtime. And if we don't add a couple of experienced Blue-Liners that can defend as well as score points, then the group we have needs to dig alot deeper and play at a higher level. The D-Men are giving the puck away too much, not taking the body, and are not contributing much to the offense. Guy can't do it all. Warner could give this team a boost, but might still need another guy or 2 to step-up or it might be time to search for someone else.
Once Osman and Legault get back, I think the offense will click again. The lines will be:
Chaulk, Osman, and Shafronov
Curadeau, Drouin, Hukalo
Legault, Varone, O' Connor with MacMillan being an extra forward. Gravelle could fill-in. Field might be the odd-man out.
