I have also noticed that we are not playing physical at all in our own zone. We have all that size and they are physically taking it to us in our own building. On paper, they look like the smallest team in the league.
Blake, we have to have one of the biggest Defensive corps in the league. Why do we not take the body? Can't remember the last time that Henley hit someone. Is he hurt? D Molle is the only one back there that has shown some physicality. Just a frustrating game to watch so far. We have more scoring, speed, and size than they do plus we are in our own building. Hopefully the 3rd period is a different story.
Bottom line: When we hit and use our size we usually win; when we don't, we don't.
Why in the world is Lovell playing and Starenky sitting on the bench?
How did you not see the plays that Starenky made tonight early in the game? That's why.
Lovell stunk the joint up all night long. Al can punish Starenky, but he wasn't the biggest offender by any means.
i did see his bad plays! but did you see all the bad plays buy Lovell?
I saw Starenky playing forward tonight, not defense where he should be!! Lovell should have been playing the forward spot, he gets caught playing up there when he usually stinks it up anyways.
Yes, I did, but you have to know that Al and any coach is always going to go with a veteran over a rookie in any situation like that. In a game that you know going in is going to be very hight, you're going to go with the vet who has been there before every time. That's just the facts of life. And Al obviously thinks right now Lovell is the better bet on defense than Starenky because he had Starenky playing forward tonight. I'm not defending that decision, just pointing out the obvious.
It was definitely not the Komets' best night defensively by a long shot, but I believe someone predicted that on here somewhere today. Yes, I did in fact sleep at a Holiday Inn last night. Plus, I had to get my one correct prediction in before the New Year.
komets played like they were tired. is the flu bug going around? henley looked like his knees were bothering him but all in all we havent hit the last couple of games and it bit us tonight! dont understand hockey players not hitting opponents. its not suppose to be a slow puck league..
Fans have an expectation that a Vet plays better than a rookie in the same situation. That obviously didn't happen tonight. Starenky could have been playing forward because he has enough speed to get up and down the ice, Lovell hasn't shown that kind of speed.
To negate the negativity: Smith and Chaumont continue to impress me. Mele is all hustle. Bryant Molle played an outstanding game.
Nick could have been sharper, but his defense didn't give him their best effort.
Komets were lucky to get a point.
The K's have a lot of team speed but they have to play a physical and tough brand of hockey at times they did that tonight but not all the time. Starenky took a horrible penalty that lead to a PP goal and I am sure that was the big reason he sat most of the night. Can't make those mistakes as a rookie and expect playing time. I like David's grit and he plays with a chip on his shoulder but he does have to control it he has taken some bad penalties of late. Good to see Leo get a goal and he got in front of the net. Good to see them salvage a point tonight.
