The Komets announced Wednesday that Olivier Legault has been added to the 2010-11 preseason roster.
Legault, 23, will be entering his fourth pro season after appearing in 16 regular season games with Kalamazoo of the ECHL last season (0 pts, 55 pim).
2010-11 will be Legault's third stint with Fort Wayne. The left winger skated 55 regular season games with the Komets during 2007-08 posting three goals and nine assists while ranking third in the lineup with 178 penalty minutes as the Komets collected an IHL regular season title, followed by the IHL Turner Cup Championship.
Legault also appeared with the Komets in 39 regular season games during 2008-09 scoring five goals, eight points and 116 penalty minutes en route to claiming his second straight IHL championship.
The Fort Wayne 2010-11 preseason roster of 23 includes 12 forwards, 10 defensemen and one goaltender.

Wow, what a waste of a roster spot.
Wow... surprised but guess I shouldn't be. Someone on here called this a while back. Mightbite, was that you? I like Legs well enough but I don't understand why he'd keep signing here if he's just gonna spend most of his time in the stands?
I know this news will make a very special 7 year old girl very happy. :)
Interesting.....
I got the feeling he wasnt on the K's radar...
I guess he fills the requisite tough guy role, but, man, is it painful to watch him skate. Surely there's someone out there who is not such a liability.
Hope this isn't our big tough guy. He will get tooled by the heavies in this league. If we got rid of Big Mac for Legault then we got hosed. Love the guys heart and commitment to the Komets, but jeez.. 2 years in a row he gets cut before playoffs. You would think he would despise the Komets by now.
I don't think anyone else wants him.
Tooled..i doubt it. He handled the tough guys in the ECHL fine when he was playing.
Hope your right y2k but given his problems with Snowball, Jorde, Relichz(sp) I am thinking he will have a tough time with anyone 220lbs and up. If you let him fight Segal 25 times this year he will look like a champ for sure.. His balance in fights is horrible. He fights with little to no defense. relies on his size and punching power. Sorry but there are many better fighters out there
Is this the guy that Mac was upset he was let go for?
I have a feeling there has been a gentlemen's agreement between Legault and the Komets since the end of last season. If this is a training camp spot, and he bring a legit toughguy to compete against him and he "wins" the spot, I'm fine with it. If this is simply our "toughguy".. then I have to ask what all that talk about having a heavy who can play a regular shift was about.
JM, I think the K's found that big tough players who can play a regular shift are either in the AHL or are of veteran status and asking for a good salary... These type players can make much, much more money going to Europe, the KHL, or Canadien leagues like the LNAH.
As of about 2 weeks ago on one of these blogs they reported that the K's have had no contact with Legault when this subject came up. That would lead me to believe that they have settled or were blowing more smoke screens.
Inviting anyone to training camp is a long way from signing them to a contract.
I TOLD YOU "LEGAULT" WAS COMING TO THE KOMETS
Thanks 5 min. major :)
Wait to see who else is coming :)
Actually, being invited to training camp is a step closer to signing a contract. A long way would be the Komets not even knowing who the player is or wanting them to come to training camp. But I get your undertone. It's not a done deal, so we shall see.
Let's bring in another player that the Frankes "aren't talking to"!!!!!!! You know, for that open goalie spot! =)
sorry y2k but how do you handle the tough guys when you only played 16 games? nice guy but if he cant play in the echl then he cant play here either.
Happy Birthday Blake.
I think we will see a HEALTHIER Legault this season, his last year here he struggled with nagging injuries. I'm excited, for only being here 2 years there were a lot of Legault jerseys in the crowd.
Mightbite called this one
I did know it was our Leader's Birthday! Happy Birthday "Super Fan" Many, Many more!
Actually I was waiting for Burgee to Smooooch up first.
Happy Birthday Blake, It's good to see big O will bring in some of his fans in. Always thought he didn't get a real chance I've liked him from the start.
Happy B-day Blake / Thanks Burgee, I also know someone else thats coming & all will be Happy :)
Funny, I read a direct Franke quote that said, about 3 weeks ago, we are not bringing Legault in and had no discussions with him.
This was after several, including Mightbite had said they had heard he was coming to the Komets. I have a friend that is a friend of a couple of players who said 2 months ago Legault was coming, according to those players. And no, it wasn't like bumping into 3 players at a bar and getting the drunken scoop. LOL
I have no problem with Jaromir coming to this pre-season roster and camp. Let him prove what he has got.
This time, define his role, tell him......"this is what we want you to do....." And let him do it,, instead of bringing him in, thinking he will score goals, and benching him.....I mean giving him season tickets.....
I will root for Jaromir Legault. I hope he comes in like a rapid dog and goes after people.
It is a low risk move....you know?
Happy Birthday Blake! :)
I think this is the second year in a row you guys have fallen for Burgee's bull about my birthday. But thanks anyway.
LOL
Happy not-your-birthday, dear Blaaaaaaaake. Happy not-your-birthday to yoooooooooooooouuuu.
I'm gonna knock down a few for you anyway Blake and consider it practice for the real event.
Always happy to help, Steve. Just so your wife doesn't get mad at me.
With one less game night roster spot, I can't see Olivier skating a regular shift. We are already stacked up front. PC, LEO, OC, Naurato, Petrosso, Curadeau, Schrock, and 2 others, plus Legs maybe. And if we wanna hold onto an extra D-man and put that guy up on forward......? He will be a 10th forward, and play 1-2 shifts a period. If he makes the opening night roster that is. I think he will, but just because he's coming to camp, doesn't mean he'll survive the cuts. Even with a contract, all it takes is being waived by the team at the roster cut off the day before opening night.
I don't think they have officially said the roster limits, have they?
If this guy is anything but training camp fodder......
