Brad MacMillan has signed with Idaho of the ECHL. The ECHL is not recognizing the final nine games of his CHL suspension, and he's going to play tonight.

Glad for Brad but surprised by the ECHL decision. That's sort of a slap in the face, isn't it? I'll refrain from some of the names I was thinking of for the ECHL until more is known, if more is known. If you get a chance can you find more out Blake?
Good for him. Odd that ECHL isn't recognizing the suspension. The ECHL admin. must think that the CHL was too severe. Glad it worked out for him. Hope he does well.
I would say the ECHL obviously felt the penalty was too severe. Which it was.
Good for Mac, wish him the best of luck. Not surprised he's not back here after the way the Franke's treated him this summer which was a complete joke. Also glad to see the ECHL found the whole Mac incident to be blown way out of perportion, the CHL really screwed that suspension up and hosed over Mac
Congratulations to Brad! Really glad the rest of the suspension was ignored and he can get back on the ice again! All the best to him and his family.
Biggest mistake the Frankes ever made...oh wait, this season was the biggest mistake they've made. They're clueless! This news is so disappointing. The Frankes are more concerned about making sure players have improved than doing what's best for the team. I don't believe anything they say anymore. They're not making hockey fun...that's for sure. It gets proven with every boring game yet...which this season is most of them!
If Brad hadn't been cut from Colorado he would still have five games to go on his suspension so that reason won't work.
Maybe Canuck is right about the ECHL thinking it was too severe, something I also think but this, on the surface, goes against parity of the leagues IMO.
Bet the ECHL would be having fits and calling the CHL names like "bush league" if it were the other way around.
Well, there's also the factor that Mac didn't want to come back to the CHL.
I wouldn't either, it's a joke league.
No-touch icing is here forever for one reason: Concussions.
I always cringed going to ECHL games because of the automatic icing. Obviously now I'm used to it. Went to a Red Wings game in December and I was waiting for the whistle to blow once the puck crossed the line! LOL
Glad to see Brad back in action. The CHL suspension was totally out of line. I don't blame him for not wanting to play in this league. If they want to be a developmental league, why not let the rough stuff go? They're going to have to deal with it the further they go up...
Fort Wayne should've joined the ECHL (I'm a voter for the AHL), only makes sense. I'm guessing they didn't want to because Paul Pickard is in that league (sour grapes Frankes?).
Calling the CHL a joke after playing in the IHL? Wow.
I agree with you, JM, but at least it was fun in the IHL :(
What "tough guys" are available ?
Fun in the IHL? Really? You mean watching the guys getting tired of seeing each other and not fighting, or skating, or hitting, or setting up hockey plays, or trying?
I'm already tired of standing...
I hear you Hoss. I bet we see more checking in these lines before the game than we do on the ice. Any takers?
If someone steps infront of me,it will happen!
I wonder how Van Drunen feels about all of this.
You're not far ahead of me, Hoss. Feel free to clear a path!
Got mine! I thought it was Blake, but the head doesn't bobble enough to ba him...it's PC
Hoss, did you get a whole "bobble-head" or 71% of one ?
had to do that :)
That's probably one reason why Mac didn't want to come back to the CHL. For fear of retribution by either Van Drunen or his teamates.
Mac fears noone
Bad move ECHL.......
You mean not honoring the rest of the suspension, Snuff? Eh, that's typical of the ECHL. When I was following that league a couple of years ago, I always had the distinct impression that they were looking down their noses at every other league. If an IHL player joined one of their teams, they wouldn't even mention that he had played in the IHL in his player profile on their site. All they cared about were their affiliations. They'd spend more time talking about the higher level teams they were affiliated with than about their own teams. I hadn't seen such shallow behavoir since high school.
Fear of retribution by VanDrunen?? haha!
a. i hardly think Mac fears a guy he destroyed with one punch
b. VanDrunen has no problem with Mac and has said that his suspension of 22 games was too much and unfair.
Good for Mac, i hope he does well.
Yes I am surprised that two leagues which unless I am in total brain cramp mode are under the umbrella of the PHPA would not honor the suspensions of each other.
Whether you agree with the suspension length or not the fact is it was handed out. If these leagues start taking each others goons and misfits without regard for the discipline handed out by each other it sets up for a mess.
Agree with Snuff, I can't believe the union is cool with this. Although refering to Mac as a "goon" or "misfit" is a bit reprehensible.
