I talked with Brad MacMillan and Mitch Woods today about the false rumor that they fought in practice Tuesday. Both players were a little offended about the rumor.
``I didn't even know about it until my dad called me and asked, and I didn't even know what he was talking about,'' MacMillan said. ``I'm not that type of guy where I'm going to fight a teammate. He'd have to really push my buttons, but I've got pretty thick skin. If it was anybody, it'd probably be Rodgy.''
Of course, Keith Rodger was sitting in the locker room a few feet away egging MacMillan on.
Woods just laughed and said, ``It would take about seven seconds for that to end with the kind of shape I'm in now.''
Mitch is definitely back and having a good time, but it's going to be a quite a while before he's going to be in game shape. Right now he's trying to regain his wind, but he stayed after practice working with Rodger.
Right now the lines are Chaulk, Shafranov and Syroczynski; Thomas, Drouin and O'Connor; and the third line is Varone, Chwedoruk and Schrock. The fourth line is Warner, MacMillan and Woods. The defensive pairings continue to be Bertram and Rodger, Dupuis and DeAngelis and Dankovic and Phillips with Woodard as the extra guy.
Congratulations to P.C. Drouin and his wife Michelle who welcomed their second son at 12:46 a.m. on Tuesday night. Noah Parker is 7 pounds, 8 ounches and 21 inches long.

I have no idea on that Chuckitt. Nothing surprises me in minor league hockey any more. I can pretty much guess it doesn't involved Evansville because the Icemen owner has an awful lot of money. Even that's just a guess.
I really doubt any team in this league will pick up Robin Big Snake when he is available. This is the kind of deal where you burn a bridge in one place the way he did, you kind of burn them all.
Congrats to "Peece" & Michelle. Doesn't surprise me that Keith was egging them on, he is quite the character!
Congrats to PC and his wife!
I really liked Schrock and Chaulk on a line together.
Imagine that...Some so called 'fan' starts a rumor and the result is quite a bit of fall out. That's why I keep telling people to be careful what they post here. Most are careful some are just not careful at all. We are dealing with careers here and anybody can read this stuff. Some people think just because they buy a ticket and go to a couple of games that they can say whatever they want because they are paying the teams salaries. This is minor league hockey and the community is small. So please watch what you write and say in front of other people about this team. Or just be ignorant and spout off any time you don't like anything that happens.
First, congratulations to P.C. and his wife on the birth of their son. I hope everyone is doing well.... Blake, that was a nice update on the K's. I was particularly interested in the "lines". Sounds as if Al Sims wants to keep Chaulk, Syro, and Shafranov together. Good idea, as I think they were very effective before Syro got called up. Leo Thomas centering for Drouin and O'Connor seems like a winning combination, too. That line is heating up and I look for O'Connor to really bust out. Hopefully Varone can stay healthy and distribute the puck to Chwedoruk and Shrock as there is a lot of talent on that line also....if eveyone else is healthy Friday night, it seems as though Woodard will be the "healthy scratch". It seems like the defensive pairings are all set and everyone feels comfortable with their partner.....just a quick note to Dschebig. Nice job on your "interview". It was not only interesting because of your stories, but mainly because I felt like you were having a "conversation" and not just a question-answer period. Kudos to Wendy also, as I think she realized as you both got going, to just "go with the flow". It went well. Ok, enough with the compliments. I just noticed a difference, thats all.....
Mac took the rumor personally and was pretty upset about it that somebody thought he would fight a teammate.
That's what I'm talking about...I don't think people realize these guys have feelings and they blurt out whatever they want under an assumed name.
Alan--Thank you! It was fun and Wendy really does a great job. It don't hurt not to be camera shy. I just wish I had a face for TV. I sure don't need the weight it adds but that's life. I hope everyone enjoyed it. I don't have cable so I haven't seen it yet.
I DVR'd it, you can come over for Foo Foo's and we can watch it together
Did it make Mac feel better that I declared him the winner without even knowing if anything happened? =)
The person who brought up the RUMOR said right in the post that it was a RUMOR and just simply asked if Blake knew whether or not it happened. No one said flat out that it did or acted as if they were reporting something. Had the person come out and said a fight occurred, that would be different IMO. If I read the post correctly, and I would like to think I did since I didn't notice any really big words, I took it as someone heard something and was asking Blake for the truth, kind of like researching. It is a blog, people post inaccurate things on here all the time that they hear, that's the difference between this and a publication. I don't really think too many people take a post on here from anyone other than Blake as being the gospel. Blake was asked if he knew, he said he didn't but that he wouldn't be surprised because it's not all that uncommon and really isn't a big deal, and he asked those in question for us. That's why he's our go-to guy. I also don't see the Frankes or Al Sims going to this blog to look for information detrimental to any of their players (no offense Blake) so they can make choices concerning the careers of any of our players. Just another case of someone asking a question and someone else determining whether or not it's a good question.
In any event, thank you Blake for finding out what really did, or in this case did not, happen with the team. You're on top of things as usual.
It is hard though sometimes because the questions like that can be highly offensive to the people you are asking them about. It's tricky, which is why I like to always go directly to the source so we have definitive answers as soon as I can.
It would be like if someone asked if it was true (insert blogger here) beat their spouse? It might be totally false, but sometimes people are just going to assume it's true, or they may not see the follow-up answer later.
I can see both G-Hockey and Frozen Water's points.
Some people often wonder why I'm so strict on the blog, well, there's a good example. I probably should have eliminated that post until I could check it out, and I didn't. I don't feel very good about that today.
Tough call Blake. You made it, no water spilled the glass is still half full!
Gee Blake, there's no reason to beat yourself up. Crap happens. I didn't think it was that big of a deal when I read it. I am glad to know that it didn't happen and I really don't remember who it was that first mentioned it.....this is a good blog and you do a fine job of monitoring it.... Ok, now look, that is three compliments that I have passed out today. I can't keep doing that or my reputation will become soiled.
I'm not saying I don't see G_Hockey's point of view, I just don't know that it was anything intentional by whoever posted it. It's one of the bad parts of a blog I guess. I don't really know that you should necessarily have to police what everyone writes on here though either, Blake. That'd be a lot to keep up with on top of your other responsibilities. I really think everyone on here does a great job of keeping it pretty tame, that's why I don't really think the question posed was anything malicious. However, I can't speak for anyone as to why a post was made, just what I'm thinking.
I'm just saying I maybe should have eliminated the post UNTIL I could have had a defnitive answer and then allowed the post. It might have been more fair to the players in that situation. I believe it was an honest question. Live and learn.
my wife drinks my foo foos all the time, its true, ask her.
Congratulations to P.C. and Michelle Drouin on the arrival of their bundle of joy. Blake, I would like to comment about the "rumor" regarding Mac, but I think that I would prefer sharing my insights with you before I post them here.
Way to go JR.....LOL
Did the IHL change the roster limits this week because your current lines include 20 players with 4 forward lines, 3 defensive lines, and 2 goalies.
I like these lines better. No one take any offense to my posting of lines. I do not coach the Komets, nor do I care to, I simply am a Krazy Komet Fan who enjoys posting lines on the blog for fun, and no other purpose. The following lines are not meant to harm anyone connected to this blog included the blogmaster, the readers, active bloggers, casual fans, Komet Players, coaches, general managers, program sellers, popcorn venders, Icy, foo foo drinkers, red headed people, 2 nutted fruitcake eaters, on ice bean bag throwers, or any other interested party that might be viewing the following lines submitted by Hit Somebody!!! Your reading of this statement not only makes you 10x smarter, but also means you accept the following lines submitted as one blogger's attempt to express his opinion without being attacked from anyone who misread this discalimer.
Chaulk, Syro, Shaf
Thomas, PC Buddy, OC
Chewy, Woods, Schrock
Mac and Warner-Woodard (toss-up)
Phillips & Danko (vic)
Rodger & Bert
DeAngelis & Guy
Where does Huk go in 30 days? And who comes out of that line-up??? Varone is my 20th man right now. I don't think he is healthy....? He has struggled this year. I like him though.
Hit--Ohhhh Kaaaay!
Add stat-man to the disclaimer list.
And thus the problem with so called 'citizen journalists' who don't have any journalism training at all. Blake's point is that when you bring up an allegation it sometimes sticks. He brings up the proverbial example when the reporter asks the mayor, "Sir is it true you beat your wife?. Even though there is no truth to it the statement itself can do damage because others hear it and it may end up in newspaper, tv and radio. I know you think this is just a silly blog but you don't know who reads it. Your comments are essentially published for the world to see. So Wood's dad in Canada may see it and call his son and say. What's going on in Fort Wayne. A group of friends in Canada may start talking about behavior without even checking the source. Other teams and fans may start the rumor that things are not going so well at Komets camp. All the rumors are not true but perception is reality. That's why movie stars get really upset when a tabloid prints a false story about them. You may counter and say I'm full of it but my point here is to think before you post. Maybe an email to Blake would have been better then 'show boating' a rumor for all to see.
REAL MEN= DON'T BEAT THERE WIFES
G_Hockey--Very well said. One of your better posts. I like it anyway!
G-hockey if you think asking an honest question that I saw on another blog and then coming here to ask the one guy in town I knew I would get a straight answer from as showboating then you sir are being a hypocrite because you are jumping to the same conclusions that you say all the sheep do when reading here... Get over yourself, this is a Komet blog where people come to find information about the K's or ask questions and give thier opinions. I work in the petroleum industry and I'm sure you've never made an un-informed or derogatory comment about that industy in your life, right???
I trying to educate you and others about the responsibility we all have when we post here. Just because you read the rumor somewhere else does not mean that it needs to be perpetuated somewhere else. That way it is magnified. Now JR, I'm not trying to personally attack you or anyone else I just took this as an opportunity to teach a little journalistic lesson. As Blake said feelings were hurt in this episode and that made him feel bad about your post. I would like that would make you and others feel bad as well. But unfortunately with the evolution of the internet people feel empowered to post hurtful messages anonymously and what that says about our society is very sad as well. Just please think about individuals here and whom you may hurt in the process.l
I need my own disclaimer too, anything posted by this blogger could or could not be true, no emotional intent should be implied, read into or otherwise taken to be offensive, a min or max BAC has not been established to participate. Wow this will just make my posts longer especially in the summer when I'm tanning with my foo foos.
So posting hurtful messages such as calling people "casual hockey fans" because you ASSUME they don't know as much as you about hockey, or because their observations are different than yours, is alright? Or maybe saying they are abusing the Internet for asking questions about something they heard is appropriate? It's also great how you talk about people using assumed names, yet you're doing the same thing... I take that back, I shouldn't assume that's not you're real name, Professor G. Hockey.
Granted, I don't know Mac at all other than sitting by him a few times in the stands while he was hurt and talking to him here and there, but he does not come across to me as the type of person who is going to let this bother him. He said it did when he heard it initially, but I can't see him having given it any more thought beyond that. I could be wrong, I didn't ask him about it and cannot speak for him or the person who was there conducting the interview.
JR: Perfect reply.
So let's make it all about you. Focus on you F.W. I knew that a few of you will be immature about this whole thing. One more story and I'm done with you and JR. I person I know was let go from a TV station in town, not by his/her own doing but the new owners choice. Someone on a newspaper blog decided to post something about said personalities children. Something about them being 'hellions' and it's a good thing the he/she is unemployed because now he/she can take care of them. Well guess what, every time that person's name was Googled the newspaper gossip bulletin board came up. So that person's career could have been changed when his/her perspective employer tried to Google him/her and see what the 'net' said. BTW, the post was not true but someone who never posted their real name attempt to hurt or defame, slander or libel this person. So someone Googles you and finds one of your co-workers thinks you are a tool and posts some untrue stuff about you. The 'net' may perpetuate this untrue story. That's all I'm saying but if you want to be small please do so. Just know that hockey players are real people and have real feelings. I've known a few younger Komets who come here and get hurt by water uninformed fans have to say about them. Then the vets tell them not to look at the blog sites. But the wives and families may look at the site as well. Just sayin'...Topic closed for me.
Since when did public internet blogs become a source for journalistic excellence? Unless Blake Sebring posts something here, I don't assume it to be true.
JR didn't post anything spiteful or out of malice. He asked a simple question.. When you play in Fort Wayne you have more fans following the team than any other minor league team in the world. It might require a little thicker skin that if you're playing in front of 2000 people in Podunk, Michingan.
It's the internet, it was posted on another forum before JR posted it here. Coming to Blake to set the record straight is a lot better than it floating around on several different sites.
As far as everyone having a civic duty to be pro-team, I can't disagree more. People are entitled to opinions, as long as they are constructive, I think they should be given equal merit.
