So much for a "calmer" off season....

UH OH!

So whats left of the "IHL" Fort Wayne, Dayton, and Evansville. 2 teams that average below 1500 fans... and one that averages 8500.. Anyone else see a problem here?

'Alot different' could be an understatement.....

GM gets the idiot blogger of the week award....lol

Geez....Point out the facts and the post gets taken down...Good afternoon to you as well, Mr. Sebring!

Never understand why some of you take such joy in the failures of others. All the lost jobs, the families disrupted. So many would rather tear down. You'd think you'd prefer if the Komets went out of business by the attitudes.

Something good happens, and you can hear criquets chirp on here, but something bad goes down and all the anonymous brave bloggers show up thumping their chests with joy.

Don't get it.

All is well in the land of the CHL and the Franke's are Gods. The Mallards leaving means nothing, they will be the only team to leave and they're only leaving because of a clerical error on their lease...something was misspelled. Move along, nothing to see here....

Better?

Who was celebrating the team folding? Who was celebrating the jobs lost? I've seen no one do anything CLOSE to that.

Facing FACTS is something I saw being done...Before it was deleted for no reason. The Mallards will NOT be the only team to fold, get your head out of the sand and maybe just maybe you could do something called investigative reporting instead of just waiting for Franke to tell you what he wants you to say.

Get off your high horse! NOBODY has/is celebrating any of the things you have claimed. That is complete BS, Blake and that type of insinuation is completely beneath you...

The two posts you removed simply brought light to the faction that likes to bash the idiot bloggers for bringing solid information... If it doesnt fit into their agenda, its bashed. Nobody celebrated anything, except having the correct information, period....

Mallards Announce Suspension of Opperations:
http://qctimes.com/news/article_8a02d1f4-7bdb-11e0-b1c3-001cc4c002e0.html

"Massive changes are looming in the CHL, with as many half the 18 teams that took the ice last year rumored to be leaving or ceasing operations. The Mallards, however, only are the second team to confirm their departure, joining Odessa, Texas, which is dropping to a Junior A league."

Yep, everything is just great in the CHL...No reason to be concerned.

Any time I quote one of Blake's previous tantrums my post gets deleted. It's alright, this blog is what he has to hold on to and he can run it how he wants. Your writing isn't THAT bad though, there's no need to delete it

As I said before, I just hope the teams folding isn't a trend and that this is an exception, not the rule for this summer. I saw more than my share of Dayton games last year and don't want more this season.

In response to cutting on the Komets or the misfortune of others: wrong again. If I didn't love watching the Ks my group wouldnt spend several grand a year for season tickets. I also dont want to see teams fold because that is less variety for my ticket money. I was simply congratulating some of my fellow bloggers for once again breaking a good story. No harm meant.

Relax all. It's awesome outside. Enjoy the weather!

Dayton is not going anywhere. Quad City might not be gone yet, either. For one thing, these buildings must have tenants more than owners need hockey teams.

From what I understand, the schedule will be much more diverse next year.

Hoss
Wed, 05/11/2011 - 4:07pm

Doesn't that mean higher travel cost? Or would they just group them more like four games in TX and four games in AZ?

Grip it and rip it
Wed, 05/11/2011 - 4:13pm

Well if we are going out of the box then what about this. Dayton folds, Komets go to the ECHL, Komets buy out coach Sims last year of his contract, Coach Brian Gratz gets named new head coach of the Komets, Komets win the ECHL championship, Gratz gets an AHL job, Chalk retires as a player and becomes the Komets Head Coach for the 2012-2013 season. Everyone is happy in Komets land for ever after....

No owner will put another pro team in QC anytime soon unless they're able to find someone to take advantage of...use, abuse, and lose..much like the pizza guys were to make the IHL2 happen.

If there's hockey in QC next year it will be juniors or a new single-A league that Fort Wayne better have nothing to do with

Blake Sebring
Wed, 05/11/2011 - 4:32pm

Not going to happen, G&R. Dayton is definitely back for one thing.

That's likely to be the plan, Hoss.

Rumor mongering aside this could have been predicted the day they left for the AHL. Teams that get too big for their own good tend to wind up getting wiped out. Rarely do you see teams make the jump to AAA from AA, fail at AAA and find themselves able to return to AA. Usually the mistake of moving up costs them the franchise.

I think the plan Hoss outlined to group the games makes sense.

Don't look for too many trips to the state of Texas...

Hoss
Wed, 05/11/2011 - 5:06pm

Finally something Snuff I and I agree on...but 90% (or at least 90% of the noise in the off season) of the "fans" want us to go up to the AHL.

I understand there is a big difference between the QC team/group and the Komets in years playing and fan base...why ruin a good thing we have by moving up and risking losing it all?

I'm going to Houston to watch the Texans beat the colts :)
The CHL falling apart???????????

Hoss
Wed, 05/11/2011 - 5:24pm

Might, you might have a better chance seeing a strong CHL next year than any NFL game...sad sad times!

The Texans-colts game is my birthday present = 50 & a reason for the Mrs. to see her sister./ RedWings going for 4 wins in a row :) If a lot of these teams folding or moving, there should be many good players out there./Real close to getting a Mirasty Syracuse game worn jersey :)

Wed, 05/11/2011 - 8:01pm

GM and JR....you guys are just a bunch of rumor starters making up this krap as you guy, and then you thump yourselves or something like that.....

Oh....wait.

You were right once again.

Dang it.

You Morans foiled a good rant once again.

(See K-Zoo Rumor, Musky Rumor, Flint Rumor, CHL Rumor, Eville rumors, Pizza Buddy's Rumor, etc. etc. etc.)

Idiots!!!!

LOL

I am joking......so smile and laugh, it is healthy.

Something better has to come out of all of this Minor League Hockey Drama.

You would think that owners and good organizations all over the Hockey Landscape would see the writing on the wall and start to talk to one another, and start making some wiser decisions about the future of hockey in the Minors,.....

Or this thing is going to come crumbling down.....

And those of you who always say....."Huh....the Komets will always be here and will always find someone to play"

Those days are starting to become numbered.
