The most-intense exhibition game I've ever seen. There were 71 minutes in penalties during the first period with six fights. Everything that Wednesday's game wasn't, this was. There was hitting, fights, great plays. It's like both teams and every player was tryi

Thanks Blake for update..would have love to seen this game, but other duties call.....How did the Shrock kid do in his battles
Schrock just scored, lotsa hustle, he has stood out tonight. Laise looks good.
Does anyone else think Drioun should be waived? ok just me.
Considering this was an exhibition game, it was very entertaining to watch. If the rest of the game would have gone like the first period, we might still be there!
I thought Big Snake looked about worthless. I'm glad we didn't go for him. On the other hand, I thought Stayzer looked like he was putting out some effort for this just being an exhibition game. And while I know this may not be the popular choice, I'm really leaning towards Haun. I know Boucher is going to be our main guy in the net, but God forbid he gets injured and we'd be left with what Sims has shown in these past two games...
We have to keep Haun. Bouch was good but I was not impressed with his replacement. Schrock impressed me with his speed, hustle, and toughness. It's a tough call on which four rookies to keep. I don't know how Sims can let him go. Everyone is worried about our toughness, but I think we have plenty. Rodger will be a surprise in that department. I can't wait for the real thing. We have a lot of talent and Whitehead is still on his way. I think I hate Musky even more already.
I said the samething Blake during and after this game. The most intense pre-season game ever that I have seen. Guys were playing like it was for the Championship....well, most of them. I won't call anyone out right now. There is one guy that looks slow of foot and can't handle the puck at all. And to top it off, he doesn't play the body unless someone runs into him. I hope he is just out of shape or just doesn't like pre-season, because his effort is showing.
Otherwise, what an incredible game overall. Fights, scoring, little worms, this game had it all. Chaulk lost his mind and fought....wow.
Laise is awesome. He is our best puck handler and fastest skater. He is the only guy I have seen us have in years that can blaze down the ice, with the puck, and make a couple of moves, take a hit, and still finish off the play with the puck in the net. I can't even remember some of the rookies we had last season because of Laise.
Schrock looked great and showed alot of physical grit, plus he has offensive skills and plays good defense too.
Schnieder, he is big and wins faceoffs. I can invision him camped in front of the net sniping pucks all season long.
I think those 3 are locks. I still like Woodard alot, although he didn't play last night, and honestly, I think I keep him and let one of the negative stand-out veteran d-men go. I'd rather take young talent over lazy oldness at this point. No offense.
LaFrance, I like him, he is chippy and plays decent hockey. There just might not be any room for this kid on the roster right now....and I bet anything he will re-surface with another IHL team if he is cut loose.
#23 Vincent with the long hyphonated name, he is skating on thin ice....I think he looks like a good player and can play at this level....but we can't keep everyone. He plays forward and defenseman so he is an asset. He is physical and very athletic as well. He is awesome at one thing, but he might develop into a standout player here. Is there any room on the roster for him though? Not sure.
The goalie situation is clear to me. I know who the top 2 goalies are by a landslide. The only complication is this...Haun is not a rookie. This might be the hang-up. I can't see the Komets keeping 3 guys in net. Who does that?
In summary, the Komets are loaded. I think this team has the potential to be better than the last 2 years....that is very scary. My only worry is age and injuries, when will that catch-up with this team....it did last year, but the guys overcame it and it made them improve bigtime from top to bottom. As good as this team looks so far, Muskegon is going to be very very good, they looked good last night without there 2 best players, and that was their back-up goalie in net. Port Huron possibly is more talented than Muskegon too. And we'll have to wait and see how the enormous talent in Flint plays out. They are loaded with talent, but will all of those guys mesh into a team? We know nothing about Quad City other than their coach wins games everywhere he has been. Dayton will be competitive with Mior in net. Bloomington will make a playoff contention this season. It won't be easy for the Komets this season. But if last night was any type of season barometer...it will be one heck of an entertaining year in Komet hockey with high paced, hard hitting, fighting, and talented players in the IHL.
Blake, I think you might want to rethink the overall talent level in this IHL this season. It is going to be better than you have seen in several years at this level....and it would beat ECHL and CHL teams routinely. This is my opinion and you had your opinion of course, but I think you will soon see how good this league is this year.
Anybody else notice that Syrocinzki scored at :29 of the 3rd period and he was wearing #29? Just a little observation!!
Harley--I did! Of course I had to write it down. Kind of made it easy for me to see.
i think haun is still a rookie.
take that back since the league says hes not. that throws a wrench in the process as now we need to keep sims as the backup or someone from last year will get cut to be able to keep four rooks.
You know, I have to agree with most everything that has been posted, yet I have a very uncomfortable feeling. Fort Wayne played with six of their eight veterans, took the play to Muskegon in the first period, but simply got out-played the rest of the game. From the second period on they couldn't win a face-off, consistantly got beat to loose pucks, and got outshot in the game by a wide margin. I can't put my finger on it but something is missing. I understand that there were bright spots in the game for the Komets, but those bright spots were eclipsed by Muskegon's team speed and hustle. I have to be honest- unfortunately I thought Muskegon was the better team. As I said, I'm a little concerned.
