What a terrific way to say "Thank you" and "Good luck" to Shaf!
From the moment of his introduction ( with a standing ovation and long applause ), to the cheers as his name was announced for his first assist of the night, to the truly heartwarming skate around the arena and interview after the game, Komet fans showed their deep appreciation for a man who was a lot more than just a hockey player.
Good luck in the "Worlds", Shaf. Remember that wherever life takes you in the future, whatever career you choose to go into, we want nothing but the best for you.
You have blessed us with your skill, your dedication, your loyalty, your superlative stick handling, and that wicked wrist shot.
You have given us many memories.....all of them wonderful!
Best of luck, always.

The gentleman who sits behind me at the games asked Michael Franke about the rumors during the first intermission. He was told to look for a big announcement on Monday.
Maybe it's something or maybe it's nothing. We all have seen in the past that there are times when announcements can't be made until all the 'legalities" have been completed.
It may also be a case of not cluttering Shaf's recognition with another large story. (In fact, that was the first thing that crossed my mind). Out of respect for all that Shaf has done, don't make him share his day with anything else going on.
If I was a "betting" man I would say that Hodgman will be announced as being added to the roster. No one has really come right out and admitted it, but then again, no one has come out and denied it either. (If there were absolutely no truth to it than a denial would be real easy).
Whatever happens, I'm going to be patient. However it is fun to try to figure the line combinations with Hodgman added. I'm not one to shake up the lines too much, but I believe I wouldn't put Hodgman on the Chaulk line. This may sound crazy, and I haven't thought it all the way through yet, but I think I would put Chewy and Hodgman together and put Shrock up with Chaulk and Syro. Just food for thought, that's all.

Just an FYI. I took a second to check, and Hodgman's name does not appear on either the Toronto Marlies or Reading Royals rosters as listed. I don't have any idea if that means anything or not.

Let's put it this way, I actually talked to Hodgie on Sunday and he told me this was not 100 percent a done deal yet because of the ECHL team. Who knows what their rules for playoff rosters are?
I get the feeling some of you would rather be first than right, and if this stuff leaking ruins the deal... Who would you blame then? I think that's why the Frankes are being so cagey. And yes, we've all seen examples in the past where that has been the case. The common sense rule is, they aren't here until they are here. I was actually talking to a player once on his cell phone as he was driving to FW, and he got a call from the GM telling him to turn around and go somewhere else on the other line. It happens.

OT: Does anyone know where I can file a "Missing Hat Report"? That damn Syro. He caused me to lose my Indianapolis Colts hat.
BTW..That was a lousy crowd response for his hat trick. I bet Flints fans have a better reaction at their players hat tricks then we do. That was sad.

Well, based on brian's post, I can no longer have an opinion on how well or not any president, congressman, police officer, garbage man, mayor, teacher, drive thru lane worker, highway worker, astronaut, scientist, CEO, doctor, lawyer, nurse, etc..., etc..., etc... do thier jobs because I have never worked in that compacity... I hope that he is not one of the many hypocrites that blast others for thier opinions and then do the same in any other area of thier lives...
I will say, however, that it does not take a former player to notice when a player is out of position, getting caught watching the play and not staying with his responsibility in the defensive zone, being tentative with break out passes or flat out passing it to the other team, etc... Now mr. Warner's strong points are his very nice shot from the point that has gotten better with the added patience before blasting away and his willingness to always drop in front of shots to get the block. My personal opinion is that his "home grown talent" does not overcome his short comings in the defensive zone.
The hockey god comment made me laugh....

JR: I hope he also does not vote for any officials, including congressmen and/or the President, since he's never been any of those.
You do make very good points, though. I've never driven an Indy Car but I can very easily tell when someone did not calculate their fuel mileage. I can tell when players have not practiced free throws when they are bricking them throughout a game although I've never played at a "very high level" for a lot of years and am old now. I can tell a good tackle from a missed tackle in football somehow although I've never played in the Superbowl. Mysteriously, I can also tell when a professional boxer did not avoid a punch as he lays unconscious on the mat although I've never gone 12 rounds with Tyson.

NO kidding. That is always like fingernails to the chaulk-board for me.
Some former Super-Star like brian coming to tell fans, that he has no clue or not if they played anything at a high level for that matter, that they can't have a good opinion because they didn't play professional hockey.....always gets me going....right Superfan??? If you wanna get me going, go down that road.
All's I have to say is this. Just think about it.
Blake, did you play professional hockey???
So are you saying that since Blake didn't play professional hockey is not qualified to comment or write about hockey and the players playing the game???
I will stop right there, because I can give 3 million examples and would normally, but I am too dang tired to start. So.....
Don 't give us that crap about I played the game and I am smarter than you BS. Because, that is what it is.
We can all see, most of us anyway, who plays the game the right way, who is sound, who is good, and who is not. It isn't rocket science, and No, I haven't stayed in a Holiday Inn Express either. But I do study the game, and enjoy it alot. Doesn't make me smarter than anyone, just makes me a fan of the game.
Warner is a good player....not saying he isn't. He is a nice guy, always seems to be. Nothing personal to attack him on. I just think he is better suited on this team to play the forward and defensive utility position, or not be paired with a player that isn't compatible with him. That's all.
