Don't blink or you'll miss him. He's Neil Musselwhite, a forward from Oswego State. He won the Fastest Skater competition at the 2010 NCAA Frozen Four Skills Challenge on Friday night at Ford Field.
The Burlington, Ontario native not only competed in the Fastest Skater competition, but the Hardest Shot competition as well. He took second place in the event with a shot of 91.8 mph, which was behind Massachusetts-Lowell's Kory Falite, who blasted a shot of 92.9 mph.
Musselwhi, a 2009-10 Second Team All-SUNYAC selection, led the Lakers with 23 goals this season to go along with 13 assists for 36 points, which ranked fifth on the squad. Oswego State finished the season as an NCAA Division III Semifinalist with an overall record of 26-3-0.

Nice...
Is it same to assume that Zak Ray is no longer around?
Wow, how did we get this guy? I understand the Boss sitting behind his podium stating, "we are the Fort Wayne Komets", but why isnt he in the AHL? Seems almost too good to be true but lace him up. Go Komets is all I have to say.
Alrightie then! Bring it on. Are we still working on immigration papers for Zak Ray?
Hmmmm. Wonder if this is why Burgee was so upbeat? But then again, Burgee is always upbeat.
Zak Ray did not make the team. He is gone. Hope this guy is as good as he sounds.
Solid signing..If he's worked on his accuracy he could be deadly
It seems odd that he hasn't caught on somewhere else by now.
Sometimes that happens. If he's all that, it won't be long before the Blue Jackets notice.
The sign of a great team is when they are always trying to get better. I really think this team is just a player or two away from taking off and leaving the others behind in the dust. Maybe this guy is one that will be a part of the answer.
Interesting that he had 36 points in 29 games and he ranked fifith in team scoring. They must have put up some awesome numbers.
A fast skater with a hard shot is a pretty positive combination.
"A fast skater with a hard shot is a pretty positive combination." Amen to that, Alan....well said.
(1) player will be called up to AHL by the K's hit home ice :(
At least we're not overhyping this guy.
Why shouldn't we? Warner has been overhyped for years. Might as well let someone new give it a try ;)
How is it hype by reporting exactly what he has already accomplished?
If I said Jungle Monkey is an articulate, intelligent and thoughtful poster, then that would be hyperbole.
Easy Blake, I didn't take your reporting to task, Big Fella.
I was commenting on stuff like "How'd we get this guy, he should be in the AHL".
I'll toss back a few foo-foo's and see if I become more intelligent, thoughtful, or articulate.
Bravo, JM. Tip of the cap to you.
The Komets have a knack for getting players like this. Sounds like he may have slipped through the cracks since he was in Germany. Remember Schrock was a D3 player and well as Rogers and DeAngeles.
So who would you compare this guy's speed to? Quicker than Aquino? I always thought Morrency came off the bench like a ball of fire, but he may just have looked quick because everyone around him was slow. It's been so long since we've seen a fast skater in the Orange and Black, I may not know of any references.
You don't think O'Connor or Schrock are fast? Or Francis?
Chewy was pretty fast as well. Bashkirov is prolly the fastest skater i've ever seen on this team.
Ya, I do think Schrock and Francis are fast, but I am just talking about that skater who just seems to leave the others looking slow, even the fast ones. Good call on Schrock and Francis though.
Mike Wiggins part 2?
Marty Gascon was fast.
Don't get me started on Mike Wiggins.....he left the Komets that season and put up good numbers.....many argued it was because the team he went to was no good and that is wy his numbers were good....I still contend to this day, it is harder to put up numbers on a bad team because you are obviously playing against better players than you have on your own team in most cases, and who were the not so bad players on his team that allowed him to put up good numbers.....???
I think we argued Wiggins to death years ago.
Let's hope this kid is allowed to come to the Komets, play his game, develop, and not carry the weight of the Komet World on his back.
Mike Wiggins.....

don't blink, you'll miss the new guy taking a slapshot at the start of the clip. Looks pretty good to me.
