I am sorry I am going to say this, but it is really getting old to hear how the K's struggle with the first period of the first game of the week. I am a little lost to why this is a problem and the non-energy that is shown at times is also very strange. I am sorry but there is no excuse to why this is happening, ecspecially for professionals. Perhpas I woke up on the wrong side of the bed. At least we got a PP goal, oh wait a minute now a "vet" takes a penalty...

maybe they need to take a bus trip around Fort Wayne a couple of hours before the game?

Welcome to the club, Sgriffith. Nothing wrong with reporting what you see. I don't know that MacIntyre deserves ALL the credit though. There have been some misses on open nets...

At work tonight... Chase is saying that the K's have missed a bunch of open nets tonight, especially Syro. What could the score be at this point? And what the heck is it with this team and missing wide open nets??? LOL

I miss Leo already.
Syro missed several open nets.
Haun played well.
Chaulk had some issues handling the puck, probably not that bad, just unusual to see Chaulk struggle.
Woodard, Warner, Rodger, and Bertram were all on the ice at the same time. Interesting.
Why didn't Mitch Woods play tonight?

The Komets won but it certainly was an uninspiring performance. We lacked energy, missed more empty nets than you can count, and were just lucky that we got the go-ahead goal before Dayton did. If I were Sims I wouldn't be happy.

Oh, sorry.... Woods did play. He was the only player who was a -2.
Hit Somebody!!!
Thu, 03/04/2010 - 12:59am
Woods does nothing on the ice of importance. "Hey IHL, I 'm back...." Really??? Where???
I hate +/-.
I have figured out what troubles Brandon Warner.....He has a dead beaver on his head....seriously, what is with dudes mop??? No wonder he struggles out there, my man has a dead rodent on his head.
Bertram was a +12 tonight by the way, I think. I think they just announced that he got an assist on the Komets 2nd and 3rd goals and that Warner and Kiyaga got assists on the 1st and 4th goals, even though they weren't on the ice....
Kidding of course.
When are they filming the new response of Mitch Woods challenging the IHL???
Overall, we won tonight. That is good. But the lack of aggressiveness and hitting is showing thru bigtime. The slow starts are only a sign of this non-energy and non-physical style. Then they come out in the 2nd and look like they are a different team putting out energy like Coach Sims threatened them or something.
But I will say this.....how does anyone expect players to play top notch in that first period when one shift Chaulk is on the top line, his next shift he has 4 defensemen stumbling over themselves on his line, and then the next shift he has PC and OC with him. What was with the constant mixing and matching of lines in the 1st. It was terrible. No continuity whatsoever.
Glad they won.
MACARONE is one huge dude. Dang.

FW knock it off with the youth jerseys already. You obviously were not at the game or you would have known that this team is a Select team and they don't wear Komets Jerseys. So let's put this crap to bed. It has already been difficult enough for Fort Wayne youth hockey this year with the opening of the new rink and the increased ice prices.

How many great hockey players never come to be because of the enormous out of pocket expenses for parents? Its a shame really..... This country has sooo many outstanding athletes that hockey could tap into, IMO.

Don't know JR. I spent part of Sunday with a guy (not from Fort Wayne) who played hockey through seventh grade. He lived in a town where hockey was not anywhere near on top of the preferred sport, and all his friends started playing football and basketball. Playing hockey meant traveling to another town just to find a team and ice time while football and basketball could be played locally with his friends so he joined them.
He admitted hockey is his favorite sport, it was football however that got him the scholarship and degree.
I understand what your saying about the expense and missed talent, no doubt you're right. I also think that if hockey were up there in popularity and support like basketball and football are then it would be less expensive for the families and more talent would be developed.

Agreed Steve; but if the sport of hockey were more cost friendly I think the sport would make itself more popular from the stand point that more kids would be playing, more friends coming to watch their games, more parents involved watching their kids which could possibly lead to more parents getting hooked on the sport and following the local pro/juniors/whatever teams.... The dominoe effect.... If USA hockey truly wanted to promote the sport they would re-focus some of that money they are throwing at the USHL to making the sport more affordable for young kids to play. Get a deal with a hockey equipment company for reduced prices, start organized equipment swap locations, etc...

How many kids would play organized football if they had to buy their own equipment at every level or after every growth spurt?

LG: First of all, blow it out your rear. Secondly, it was a joke. Third, I couldn't care less if you tell me to knock something off or not and I'll talk about whatever it is that I feel like talking about that day. It's a blog and that's what you do. People talk about tons of stuff on here that has nothing to do with anything, from red heads to rumors to how their kids games went over the weekend to dog biscuits to whatever kind of stats we like or don't like. I was at the game, and go to every game and did see they were select jerseys. Probably why there was only one goalie that night, huh? Oh wait, I wasn't there so I wouldn't know that, right? And how are you going to cry about someone talking about a hockey jersey price but then turn around and whine about the cost of ice time in the same post? That makes tons of sense. What a joke.

Agree JR. Is there any kind of hand me down program or resale cheap here for used equipment that has been outgrown and still in good enough shape to be used? Just wondering.
