Huh?...Komets win...one of the 71%'ers is out of the lineup?...Coincidence?...
Great game! They picked it up tonight, lots of effort! I think that was Legs best game!
Great game? I was bored to tears most of the night. I'll take the dubya tho
I agree with Hoss. I counted four or five times when Legs was the one who cleared the rebound in the defensive zone to save another chance.
Last 2 games the Ks have busted their tails. Felt great to see the kids rewarded with a win. Chalk, Snowball, and Mac on the horizon.
What a great game, we beat Dayton and the LOUSY officiating
I agree with Hoss and Blake, Legs played a heck of a game. People say a lot of bad things about him, but at least you can see him giving you a lot of effort. He may not be as talented as a lot of other players, but he is always trying and working hard. I thought Warner was Warner again. He was being lazy and let that short handed goal go in. My whole section is starting to see the same things I am on Warner. I will give some blame to Frankie on that. I thought that Guy played a heck of a game. He was hustling and crashing the net in the offensive zone multiple times. He creating a couple goals and a couple other really good scoring chances. Schrock is always good. We need to make a couple more personal moves. We need a physical defenseman and a player like Mac that will give you a 110 percent and crash the net. We still take some very stupid penalties. That is something we cant do.
Here are some of my observations about tonights game:
I was very frustrated watching the 1st and 2nd periods as once again, I think guys were trying, they just weren't getting it done for whatever reason and I was a bit bored, nervous, and frustrated at the same time.
The 3rd period picked up. They finally got a few breaks to go in.....but once again, they could have easily had 10-12 goals on some of the looks they had they just couldn't find the back of the net.
Can we trade for "Daytons" Brandon Narauto? Who is that guy? The guy playing with a chip on his shoulder, hustling, grinding, going to the net, looking like the best player on the ice, throwing his body around??? Seriously, where was that effort here? And why the sudden change in effort and attitude? If I were a Franke, I think I would question alot of things as to why he looks like the player he does now, and looked the total opposite here.....why?
Curadeau played so much better tonight IMO. He looked more like the guy I remember.....taking the body, and going hard out there. Curdy, do it every night and no one will complain a bit about you.
Lardner plays hard every shift, he does some of the little things that a Chaulk or Hukalo would do. Pressures the puck, moves the puck, checks, skates hard all the time, makes plays. I am glad he is here. Eventually, he will explode and score goals and his points will rise. Gotta be patient, he and Curdy looked good out there tonight.
Schrock is Mr. Komet. No doubt about it. Love watching him play.
Cescon plays good defense and is a pest to the other team.
I think some people are way too hard on Danko, he really has impressed me the last 2 games. He was exceptional tonight on defense, and he was throwing the body around a ton. Danko playes hard every shift, he was a force tonight.
Some of you have to admit he was great tonight defensively.
Legault......he did do well. He is a force if he sticks his nose in front of the net. That is a good role for him. I like the kid's never say die effort, even though he isn't the most talented guy out there. Cheers to him. I can't fault him when he is playing hard and efforting, and he contributed to the team alot tonight.
I am so glad they got this win....I think this will be a building block and maybe they start gaining some confidence after this one.
I am very impressed tonight the effort they gave to the end....they played with 8 forwards, 6 D-Men, 2 Goalies.......and Legault played extended minutes.
I won't rag on anyone tonight. It is a relief to see them win and we should all celebrate and hope this gets them going.
I think one guy needs to learn to pass the puck and stop hogging it. And another guy.....someone all ready mentioned.....needs to pull his head out of his......tired of the puck turnovers he makes and the numerous times his man beats him up the ice or to the front of the net.
Sorry, I needed to balance out the lovefest. LOL
Merry Christmas everybody.
That was a pretty good assessment.
Who doesn't like to watch Schrock play? That guy is something else.
Glad to see some of the players snap out of their amnesia. Is there another Legault? Or is that the same player?
Not so sure Narauto wanted to be here. Players slack when they feel they're in a bad situation.
Good start, long way to go.

LMAO. If anyone else played the way Legault did, we'd be irate. He's been so bad for soooo long that a marginal game is the best of his career.
Don't get too excited. The bar wasn't set very high.
Lets not forget that Legault is not here to score a ton of goals .
looks like 18 other players must have their role confused with legaults!
Glad his comments were miscontsrued!! I dont want a 6-8 team league!!!
whats wrong with an 8 team league? the best thing that could happen in the future is to get back to a midwest bus league. the komets need to compete in a league where true rivalries can exist. growing up as komet fan, its easy to go back to the original ihl and remember our true arch nemisis from years gone by. its very hard for our young fans today to relate to this and want to continue a tradition . i took my youngest son to a k-wings game about five years ago. it was very exciting for him to see and hear fans going back and forth. it created an interest for him to want to continue to go to home games and road games. kind of hard to do in texas, south dakota, mississippi and so forth. we dont belong in the chl, echl, or any other league that is farther than an 8 hour trip. hockey really needs to take a hard look at minor league baseball and its system. i think its crucial for the survival and future existance of minor league hockey. please bring back toledo, cincy, k-zoo, indy, flint, muskegon, and watch the league flourish
Brian - 8 team league might be fine.. An 8 team league where throughout the year you get to wonder who will be folding, How much are the Frankes paying for 5 of the 8 teams, will the league survive through the year... ect... that is the 8 team league most people want no part of.. You really think your "bus" league idea is going to provide those stable teams? where? Muskegon? no.. Flint? no... K-zoo? want no part of it anymore.. Port Huron? no.. so where? where are those 8 stable cities?
Love the "idea" that gets glamorized. Sounds wonderful to have 8-10 teams all within travel distance, and a perfect little league. In all actuality it is not happening. ... there simply are not enough stable cities on board with the idea, and going through more of the guessing game scenario with a 6 team league is something that would bother me to no end.
Fort Wayne's hockey attendance is in the top two in the nation. I said NATION. Playing in a small league with no travel outside the tri-state area for this franchise is equivelant to the Yankees staying in their tri-state area - for argument sake, speaking of minor league hockey, I think you get the drift.
It's 2010, soon to be 2011. Let's leave the 1950s hockey where it should be, in the 1950s. Our fan base is huge, relatively speaking and with these numbers, we can easily support an AAA team, no questions asked. Doesn't matter who runs them, or how much tickets are - to a point, people are still going to attend and there's no proof otherwise. I think we need to stop with the backwards thinking. I think the Frankes made a good move to this league and becoming affiliates with the Blue Jackets.
Then No-Touch I think you should put your money where your mouth is and step up and buy the team and take the risk. It's always easy to tell someone else how to spend their money.
We've had this discussion a million times. Arguing over it again will not change the reality. The Komets don't own the building. That would make a huge difference. Otherwise ticket prices WOULD have to go up significantly, and no owner in Fort Wayne would ever be stupid enough to risk that. We can argue over ticket prices forever, but they would go up, and Fort Wayne is and always has been a remarkably cheap sports city, for good and bad. And don't say but they don't pay rent because they do pay for everything else such as ribbon boards, score board video usage, zamboni rental, etc, and all of that adds up to significant rent. It's just business, and moving to a larger league at this point would be bad business. And then very shortly after that we'd end up with no hockey.
"Then No-Touch I think you should put your money where your mouth is and step up and buy the team and take the risk. It
Indy will get an NHL team ( I remember fans their moaning for that) before the Komets go AAA.
Komets123 I absolutely, completely agree with you. The only argument that is worse, more inane, simplistic, less intelligent, ridiculously overused is saying the Komets should be AAA because they sell XXXX tickets each night. If only that were the only issue. It is not that simple. If it were, there would be plenty of people lining up to buy the Komets who were willing to lose tons of money. There are not. Sports business has changed tremendously since the last time the Komets were in AAA, hardly any of it for the better. At any point over the last four years, someone could have made the Frankes a fair, productive offer, and I would almost guarantee you they would have accepted it rather than go through the grief of IHL2, etc. It would have saved them years off their lives. Before they dropped from the IHL to the UHL, they talked to anyone in town who might have been interested in joining their ownership group in an attempt to stay AAA, and they could find no takers because everyone knew it would be a bad business decision. That has not changed. The biggest fools in Fort Wayne over the past 30 years have all been those who thought owning a sports team here would be a great idea.
He we go with the "We pay good money ... we have the right to .. argument. I don't mean to be snippy here, but paying for your tickets gives you exactly no more rights than not paying for your tickets. Your right is to either purchase tickets because you appreciate the product or not purchase tickets because you object to the business decisions. Yes, you do have the right to complain, which is a right that is exercised to its fullest on this blog, but making demands on how someone runs their business ... not so much.
I think a lot of season ticket holders feel, incorrectly, that purchasing tickets is akin to purchasing stock in the company. It would certainly be nice if that were the case, but it simply is not. You have zero ownership stake and therefore zero say in the business dealings of the company. You can, however, affect the success of the business by choosing to spend your money elsewhere and force the business to make changes that will entice you to come back.
Look, you don't get to go into Mom and Pop's Roadstop Inn and proclaim that since you eat there twice a week you now have the right to demand that they start serving liver and onions instead of brats and sauerkraut. You can affect the menu by leaving a suggestion and then choosing to stop eating there until they make that change.
Sheesh, I feel like I should be teaching macro economics or something. I think I'll go partake in some liquid holiday cheer now. Merry Christmas to all of you if I don't see you before Monday's game.
"The biggest fools in Fort Wayne over the past 30 years have all been those who thought owning a sports team here would be a great idea."
...am I allowed to name any names? LMAO!!!!
(counting how many of them I've worked for...)
Chad- feel you might be missing the point, and/or splitting hairs here. When you become a fan of something. (favorite resturaunt, store, team, product).... You do earn a certain "right" to request things. Don't you think the Frankes listen to their fan base? they most certainly do. If they know their fans hate this, or like that, they will adjust as they can.
Do the Frankes HAVE to listen? well no. A good business or businessman would though. Or at least as much as they can. The whole phrase "customer is always right". That saying ever strike you as odd, or you simply dismiss it and say "bah... if you don't like it don't buy it" .. which business model sounds better to you?
I like how people that get press passes and corporate tickets are always the first ones to tell people who spend a large chunk of their disposable entertainment budget to shut up.
I agree with Chad's point... but... 123 is also on point with being reasonable owners when it comes to maintaining successful relations with your customer base. The "AAA" arguement will never die, though it should until the team is sold. The Franke's will never take the Komets to the AHL. I look at it this way.. If you can live in a 4000 sq ft house in Chestnut Hills for $500 a month, why would you want to move to Sycamore Hills in a slightly larger house that is going to cost more in utilities and pay a $3000/mo. mortgage? I get it from a business standpoint. There are a lot of mouths to feed and an AHL franchise slashes the amount of profit to be made. If I were the owner, I wouldn't go to the AHL either. But I'd also understand that fans want the best hockey they can see for their entertainment dollar. Charging AHL prices in a building you don't pay rent for gets people riled up.
If more people would understand their are two sides to it, rather than jump up and down screaming about how nobody else can have a valuable opinion, this arguement could die down. But instead, people lecture others as though they are idiots for not seeing "they they aren't shareholders... Buying a ticket means you're just another turd in the toilet." When people feel disrespected, they will never care to attempt to see any logic on your side.
Boy oh boy .. Can't wait to see the mudbugs come to town
Merry Christmas everyone. Looking forward to more banter here in the New Year. If travel is in your plans be safe.
Health and Happiness in 2011.
Same to you, and everyone else, Mike..
Merry Christmas, Bloggers!
(Espcially Hit Somebody... I fear that someday we'll get a post filled with one letter "kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk" where his head landed on the keyboard after he blacked out due to Komet anxiety.... I'm kidding Hit.. If I could bottle your Komet Passion I'd get it for everyone here as a Christmas gift.)
