Justin Chwedoruk deal is finalized and waiting for league approval. He's expected to play this weekend.

Nick Boucher has been placed on 30-day injured reserve retroactive to Monday.

Kevin Bertram will be activated tomorrow.

Blair Stayzer is week-to-week but unlikely to play this weekend.

So Whitehead is released and Boucher goes on the 30 day to make roster space for Bertram and Chwedoruk. Once they Syro comes back and Boucher and Shaf are back that means more roster decisions.....ouch!

Hey Superfan...

Does Ty Sims being the Emergency Goaltender go against roster size and/or salary cap? And does Boucher going onto the 30day free up salary cap room? As does Shaf?

I have a feeling that when everyone is healthy/back in the fold to play after this 30-day period coming up, we might see some very tough decisions beig made on the roster that might involve some very popular and familiar Komet players. I think some salary may have to be shaved to make room for these guys, and they are doing that right now in a creative manner.

This will make Haun tough as heck, but he will have to play every game the next month. I hope it doesn't break this kid.

Not sure i understand why Sims would just be the Emergency goalie if Boucher is gonna be out for 30 days...Haun will need a break eventually.

It's probably retro to when he went down, so it might not be a full 30 from today....not sure though.

Congrat's to the K's for offering cheap beer Wednesdays!!!

Hit - The way things are going, there may be other injuries by the time these guys are ready to go again. Hopefully not, but the way this season is going I wouldn't be too surprised by it.

Except that Stayzer is a proven good player who has made contribution to the wins the Komets have this year. Please take off those Orange stained glasses and realize that one of the reasons the Komets have so much success is that Al wants someone who can play hockey first and be a fighter second.

I'd take a keg of Molson in a heartbeat!!

I'm going to get a lot of backlash for this because he's a hometown guy, but from what we've seen up to this point and last year, I'd keep Stayzer over Warner. Attack away....

Warner looked real good in Muskegon last Sunday. He played both forward and the D. I just think that ability is worth keeping around.

Agreed, I don't think you cut someone like Warner.

If the team becomes all healthy, then we know that decisions will have to be made. I don't know what Coach Sims is thinking or what he is looking for, but I trust him 100% that he is going to put the best team on the ice. Players will have to go (assuming that everyone is back). Who will it be? I don't even thing Coach Sims could answer that question right now. I'm sure some of the players know that every game counts, not only for 2 points in the standings, but also for their career as a Fort Wayne Komet. For me, I would have on the chopping block either Stayzer and Warner. Neither one has ever greatly impressed me. However, each game brings a new opportunity. Who knows what the future holds. I certainly do not, but I am hoping that the future holds another Turner Cup Championship. I think it is time to sit back, enjoy watching the Ks, and trust the decision of the coach.

On a side note...Alan and RunningKomet, if you are reading this...where are you? COME BACK!!!

Komets website - there's a big ad for "Wild Wednesdays"

Except that Warner played very well in Musky and he is an AHL caliber defenseman. Sometimes casual hockey fans can't see what good defensemen do for a team like the Komets. Also both Warner and Stayzer have 'soft hands' then can handle the puck and can play offense.

Andrea
Fri, 11/20/2009 - 12:59pm

G_Hockey - it was just my opinion. That's all, nothing more. I guess as a 'casual hockey fan' I will remember that tonight at the game. But, it will probably won't change my opinion.

I think stayzer and warner are tweeners so i believe the problem will be having to many vets when everyone gets healthy.
