Former Komet Sebastien Laplante of Quad City has been named IHL Goalie of the Week. Mike Kinnie of Port Huron is the Player of the Week and Matt Krug of Muskegon is the Rookie of the Week.
Also, got an email from Matt Reynolds. He said he talked with David Franke, and Fort Wayne would be his first choice to play in this country, but he's going to try to sign again in Europe.

Ah. Well, good luck to Matt. I know that a year ago, he was one of the top players for the Stingrays before he was injured -- just been in a bit of a "shrump" his year. I hope he can find a new home and bounce back.

Wendy, have you heard more about Kevin Reiter's team? Did they keep their financial backing in England, or did they end up going belly-up, like they thought they might? I hope he landed somewhere, in any event.

The team Reiter played for last season, the Basingstoke Bison, decided to move to a lower league and renew some old rivalries there. Reiter was then signed by the Sheffield Steelers -- the team that won the British Championship in 2008 and 2009. IHDB isn't saying much about him, so I looked up some more information just now. Looks like things aren't going so well at the moment. He suffered a fairly serious injury towards the end of a game on October 4. Here's the story:

The Sheffield organization made the following statements regarding Reiter after signing another player to be their #1 goalie:
"Kevin's injury has come at the worst time for him, our early indications are that he has a hernia and that will take some time to repair. We will make sure Kevin is treated well and is back to 110% fitness as soon as possible, once that happens we will weigh up our options a little like we did last year when Nathan Gillies was hurt.
