it is a really nice place and all the fans were great. we all got along well. I had a really great time, but from where we were sitting we could only see about 65% of the ice.

everything was great blake ....... except the worker that fell and cracked his head open on the ice.... thats why the late start .
The gentleman who was injured, has several broken ribs, a broken clavicle, and a skull fracture. I will update when I have more news. Also the arena staff dropped the ball on this one. There was a basketball game last night and they waited to do the change over until this morning. ( from someone in the iceman organization )

There is a group of Icemen fans and Komet fans that have been tailgating together before the games and who correspond on FB with each other. Great group of hockey people (even though some of them are not cheering for the right team.) Hope that E-ville is able to continue with great attendance at all of their future home games. Personal wish: All arenas would ban cowbells. After the first ten minutes, they are quite annoying. Never did hear for sure -- Did the bus trip to E-ville fizzle out?

From photo #3:
"Evansville forward Mike Sgroi (11) fights with Ft. Wayne defender Brent Henley (43) immediately after finding out a fan would win a prize if he recorded an assist, goal or got into a fight in the game on Saturday night, November 5, 2011."
Guess he figured he wasn't going to score or get an assist... :-)

As of right now, no Starenky and no Bennefield who has a lower body injury.

Justin Chwedoruk is also sitting out for the Mallards. He has a face with a few stitches after a fight in Dayton Saturday night.

steve I noticed that at the game when they dropped the puck announcer was still doing the promo for sgori and said .... if sgroi gets a goal or assist ... and paused and then said or a fight .... and it was like automatic sgroi dropped his gloves.

Beautiful arena. Might be the best around these parts. It is small (smaller than the old coliseum), close and compact. If their fans had any clue about hockey that barn might be as loud as Wings Stadium or the old Sports Arena in Toledo. They found some way to cram 9,500 seats in that place and if their fans figure out how to get loud that will be one tough building to play in.
Everything was first rate. They had flat-screen TV's EVERYWHERE... The staff was friendly. The fans were friendly. The arena is set in a perfect location basically. Easily accessable from the North or East (depending on which way you come down from Fort Wayne). Plenty of parking nearby. The area around the arena is really cool. It's basically like a small NHL setup down there.
I hope they continue to draw good crowds because they've got an awesome building down there.
Just an FYI though...don't go I-70 to US 41... TONS of construction along I-70... you're better off taking I-65 to Louisville and I-64 westbound. Took us 5+ plus hours with the first route but only 4.5 the other way.
