Its a Wed. And no one has really seen much from Mirasty yet. Give him a Friday or Saturday night crowd and let him go.

I don't think I've ever been more proud than tonights Mirasty fight. He belongs in a K's jersey!!

You guys have to remember too, Mirasty hasn't really played or fought in some time. So he might have been a bit rusty tonight.

Mad Ants crowd is a bit harsh, but the crowd is small.

Let's put it this way, the Komets had a better crowd for a Thursday exhibition game this year.

You have to realize, NHL teams like the NY Islanders have had 7 and 8 thousand in attendance for a major portion of this season. The Coyotes can barely break 10 thousand. The same goes for the FL Panthers, and the ATL Thrashers.
All the while this is happening, the FTW Komets have 7-10 thousand a night packing the house. Sometimes fans need a night off.

Wed, 02/09/2011 - 8:49pm
Right. Make excuses all you want. How many of you expected at least 7,500 for Mirasty's first game?
Again, it's not fighters or players or whatever. It's promotions.
PatrickHF
Wed, 02/09/2011 - 9:39pm
I'm not making excuses. I'm just saying, for a CHL/IHL/UHL club, the Komets have some of the best fan support in all of the minor leagues. And when you compare the attendance numbers from the ECHL and AHL (and even the NHL), the Komets' fan numbers speak for themselves.
Promotions or not. Fighters or not. But Mirasty will only go to enhance the fan experience. Not to mention what he'll provide to his team/teammates. I wasn't expecting a major jump in attendance right away. But when you ask the fans, as they're leaving, what they remembered most from the game, i'm sure many will bring up Jon Mirasty!

Yep, I'd trade seeing Mirasty for a "worlds largest trading card" of Andy Townsend.
Why are you always selling the promotion crap to us? As true as it might be, the bloggers are hardcore. We don't give a poo about magnetic schedules, we refer to Hit Somebody's!! annual schedule tattoo.
The core of the fanbase was in the house tonight. 5400 allegedly.. Without them, there is usually 3000 to sell promotions to... I still like the majority in this example.

I didn't expect Nasty to bring fans into the Coliseum, at least not yet. But I sure didn't expect the attendance to be that low. I hate to think people here are so wimpy they let the temperature keep them away. Now if it had been against Toledo, Indy, or maybe Muskegon perhaps more would have shown up.
Trying to decide if most of those in attendance were Komets fans or hockey fans.....?? :-)

Because, as you say, some of you can't seem to handle the truth, JM. No, not all the bloggers are hardcore either. You may like to think they are, but that's wrong as well.
My point is, there has to be a balance of both. Each side needs the other, as much as a lot of you wish it wasn't so. Even on the blog, it's true.

It's Nasty's first game, a Wednesday night, and most people in FW have no clue who he is...yet. Give him a few games to leave his mark and then you will most likely see attendance improve. It's just naive to think he would bring in a big crowd tonight

Us bloggers aren't hardcore fans JM....just face it.
I haven't missed a single game this season. The first road game in Arizona this season was on a Friday night, I was in Columbus, OH with my dad taking in the Roger Waters concert (excellent, the best rock concert ever), do you think Hit Somebody missed the CHLTV game from Arizona....H*** NO Brother!!! We got back to the hotel and rigged the laptop to the flat screen and watched the whole game.
I don't miss games.
Raise your hand if you are a blogger who rarely misses a day where they check in on the Blog.........
I am sad to say that I check it daily at least.

Handle the truth? I just don't care. I'm selfish, I care about good hockey. Keep the rest of the crap. If ridiculous promotions pays the bills so I get what I want, so be it.
I just get sick of the fluff... Except for the Guy Dupuis head cutouts.. Why did Burgee cheap out on those?
Did anyone actually say Mirasty was going to sellout the Coliseum on a Wednesday night?

Not that its a huge part of fan base. But it was senior night for high school hockey and it was packed at canlan. I rarely miss komet games and I seen quite a few season ticket holders and regulars there, probably would guess it effected k's game by maybe 300 -400 people .adds up quick
