Not a maroon, a moran!
Obviously, GM, you missed out on some Bugs Bunny during your childhood.
I knew exactly what you were referencing, I also know what's said on this blog :)
GREAT PICS
Let me say I am very impressed with aPod and Curdy. They both have stepped it up in the past two games and hope they keep it up! Props to Al for moving aPod to the top line. It has paid off.
Also giving props to Boucher!!!! He kept us in this game and deserved a win out of it. When he came out after that puck, I thought it was all over...till he played the body better than half of our D-Men! Great job. The Jungle woke up with that one!
Bouch hit more and played the puck better then Warner did all game!
The Ref was a hoover or a dead skunk, Bouch got stronger as the game wore on. The play he made in the third period skate out take the puck away then a check to save the bacon. Best check i ve scene by a goalie GO KOMETS
Was this ref Hawthorne's cousin?
Don't you insult the good name of one Jimmy Hawthorne!
Pointstreak says it was Craig Welker. Isn't he a Komets fan "favorite"?
I have to agree Superfan. Best Game of the Year.
Felt like a playoff game....I was nervous in the 3rd, OT, SO....
Apod is playing some Super hockey. He looks confident out there.....he even has started to get back on the defensive end and poked pucks away and pestered the opponents.
I don't have to say who our worst defensive player is.
If Curadeau could only get consistant in his fire out there. He got POed a couple of times tonight and acted like he wanted to fight. I think he plays best when he is mad. Someone make him mad!!!! Hey Curadeau...You Stink!!!! LOL
The best games this season that we have watched on our ice have been against Wichita, BS, Mississippi, Missouri, Arizona.......
Anyone notice a trend here???
Are the games against the IHL2 franchises bad because the teams don't get excited to play one another? The teams stink? The style of play is different? Combination of things?
Great game tonight.
Boucher's ballsy play going to the blueline to play the puck and make a check was crazy, classic, and courageous.
The IHL games are boring because they all know each other so well from playing each other 30-40 times a season. The CHL teams have been fun because we never know their type of play until we meet them. Honestly, we need to schedule Colorado, Rapid City, Wichita (especially the Thunder), and Missouri (the precursor to the Wichita game) more, and the IHL less. I understand the scheduling though due to the economy.
Agree Scooter...Warner was terrible tonight...but not any more terrible than any other night. I can think of at least 3 plays where he was on the ice where we would have been better off just staking 4 men...
oops, skating* 4 men.
He was on the ice tonight more than any other D-Man.....
I was scratching my head so much tonight because of that...Someone actually called me Blakes. LOL
Ratchuck's selfish penalty ultimatley decided the game. If he keeps his yap shut and doesn't take a moronic unsportsmanlike penalty, the 2nd Bugs goal doesn't get scored. If it were Warner or Leo people would be killing them. I don't care of Ratchuk's "elitest AHL attitude".
Hit you are right he is out there more than anybody else. When everybody else is changing he decides to stay out there and skate around. That is when he gets him self into trouble. I dont understand why he wants to skate a 4 minute shift. FRANKIE please heal ASAP!!!!!!!!!!! I like the new lines. That that penalty on Mirasty was awful. It was a good hit! That was the start of the Komets hititng people. Think Mirasty has been a plus to the team. I hope we play Bloomington in the first round. I think that is our best chance of getting out of the first round IMO.
Jungle they scored before his unsportsman didnt they. I agree it was a stupid penalty, but I think they scored before he got his additional two.
They scored something like two seconds into Ratchuk's first penalty. Then he got the unsportsmanlike call.
After further review, you're right Yogi. The idiot ref couldn't figure out what was going on and may have confused the situation for me.. All the same it was terribly selfish. I can see that Ratchuk has talent, but he also seems to think he's too good for the CHL. The guy whines and complains constantly. Maybe its just me...
When are the guys going to learn this year that you cant mouth off to the oficials like they do? How many more dumb unsportsmanlike conduct or abuse of officials penalties have to be taken for it to sink in???
I'm not sure in a unionized league if the teams can fine thier guys or not; but if they can, I think I would start fining every player $25-$50 (or something like that) for every dumb penalty they take from yapping at the ref's... If they cant keep thier mouths shut, then let them sit in the stands for a game to think about it...
I think the mouthing off and getting an extra selfish penalty is a MSU problem if memory serves me from earlier this season when the Boy Wonder screwed us in at least 2 games where he yapped off to the ref.
The initial call on Ratchuk was awful....2 players collide, go down one gets up as the other gets up, ref looks up, BS player trips over Ratchuk, Ratchuk gets an interference call???
But yes, you have to just swallow your tongue on that one an move on.
Welker is and has always been an awful ref.
I watched him let a triple cross-check right in front of him on one end of the ice go.....same shift.....a guy dives behind the net and a Komet player gets a trip call.
Horrible.....I could have written 20 other situations that Welker either let go or called that was poor.
Real serious thought here. I've seen a lot of hockey at the Memorial Coliseum over the years. There have been some bad refs that have worked games here. But, ( and this in no way has anything to do with the K's lack of success this year), the CHL officiating has got to be the lousiest group of officials I have ever seen.
No consistency, no experience equals no value for the league, players, fans, and the game.
Developmental league comes with developmental ref's.... I think the huge difference is the calling of the NHL rulebook. We as fans and the Komets players themselves (since most played in the IHL2 last season) are getting a reality check as to how how tightly games are called in leagues that fall in line with the NHL doctrine... Obstruction, interference, checks to the head or from behind, etc... arer more closely scrutinized and officials are told to error on the side of caution. Couple that with rookie ref's and it makes for inconsistent and frustrating games at times...
Its a far stretch from the mugging friendly IHL2...
Something else to think about...without the ref, the K's may not have scored last night.... Both goals came from the PP...
Mudbugs = 1-7 on the PP
Komets = 2-5 on the PP
Also, I would like to add that the Komets have taken dumb, lazy penalties all season long and that will probably be thier undoing in the playoffs...
Where is Jimmy blowing his whistle these days?
Welker is not a rookie.
He is a well seasoned idiot....I mean MORAN.
Anyone else see the zamboni blast the wall on the north end last night?? After that, the new zamboni was brought out for the last intermission.
Chad, I love your work and am envious of your set up, but I just have to say that your strobes were really distracting Friday night...LOL! I spent 2/3 of the game trying to figure out where the h-e-double-hockey sticks it was coming from...I'd stare in one general direction waiting for them to go off but they wouldn't...finally, when I'd look away, you'd fire one off. Stop messing with my head, man! :)
I have nothing else to add to the conversation that hasn't already been mentioned...back to your regularly scheduled program....
I'm glad I wasn't alone in trying to find the strobes only for them to never go off when I was searching..I was getting paranoid and scared that I was having a stroke...A different kind of stroke than Munce's
