Tailing the Komets

Tim's service

Just got back from Tim's funeral and it was extremely well done. There haven't been too many funerals I've attended where I felt better coming out than I did going in, but this was one. It was very inspirational, and really showed the kind of man Tim was. Bloggers were represented and quoted in the service as well. The pastor did a wonderful job. There were about four others who spoke, and the story telling probably could have continued all day. Lots of laughs to go along with the tears. Tim would have blushed with everyone praising him.

It also struck me that it was kind of cool in a way that Tim did just recently announce his retirement. The good thing about that is that everyone on here and elsewhere got to thank Tim and tell him how much we appreciated him and what his work meant to everyone. Part of the reason I usually feel terrible at funerals is because it's always such a shame that the person who passed never got to hear all the nice things people think of him, but in this case Tim was blessed enough to hear all of that. He knew exactly how everyone felt about him, and that's an incredible blessing and seemed quite appropriate today.

I guess I would encourage everyone to remember that this upcoming season as the Komets celebrate their 60th anniversary. Thank some of the Legends for what they've meant to the team and the community and to you. One reason the Komets are making such a big deal out of their 60th is because they know a lot of these folks won't be here for the 70th or the 75th, and we are truly blessed that so many are still around now. It's pretty amazing when you think about it how many are still part of our lives, our community and attend games. It truly is incredible the impact they have had on all our lives and something to be thankful for.

That's something that I was reminded of today. Tim knew that, and that was great for him and for us.

All right, I'm done rambling. Everybody stay cool out there.

Well thought out and touching sentiments, Blake.

I would only add that this may be a good time to not only think of the Komet Legends, but to expand that thought and take time to hug family and friends also.

Time is promised to no one and I would give anything to be able to spend one minute with both my Father and my Mother.

The Coliseum will seem a little different, a little emptier now. However, the Heavenly Section just filled another seat!

Agreed, Blake. It was a nice service, and Tim would have been blushing at all the nice thoughts. I know I for one will be more inclined to let the special people in my life know how much they mean to me while they are still here to know it.

Blake, thanks for all that you do to bring us the news, even if it is not the news we want to hear at that very moment, or if we don't agree with what you are writing. We do appreciate it. I love being informed (or at least knowing that you are trying to get me info on what's going on). You are awesome :)

All bloggers on here, thanks for being on here and contributing your thoughts and opinions. Without you, we would not have a blog. Some days, that would truly make life a lot more boring for me (other days, my life is way too exciting on its own....my life could be a Spanish soap opera, I swear!).

To those who I have gotten to really know and become friends with, thank you for being you and being so kind and wonderful to me. I truly appreciate you for the person you are. This goes especially to you, Five Minute Major! You have truly become a great friend to me, and I really appreciate your sense of humor, your friendship, and most of all, your willingness to admit that you have no sense of direction, just like me :) But at least you will ask for directions....and you understand me when I give them....convoluted though they might be...LOL....I did get get you there eventually....

Everyone be safe....stay inside....preferably in an ice rink somewhere.
