I still feel there are more questions to be answered. How realistic is it that any or all the 5 players trying out for AHL teams actually stick. Its a possibility. And if they do are there any back-up plans to replace them or bring others in to camp? I am really excited about the upcoming season and want to see everyone thats been signed. The K's have a strong team and hope it stays that way. Also next Saturday the 9th from 10-11 fans can go watch the Komets practice. Is it at the Coliseum or at Canlan. And where is Canlan? I have heard of it but no idea where its at.

Slim chances of ANYONE making an AHL roster........NHL teams have 50 contracts. They keep about 25 or so up and send the rest to the AHL, with a few to the ECHL. How likely do you think it is that a free agent player is gonna bump out an NHL contracted player when the NHL team is calling the shots as far as the roster goes?

Thanks FMM. I should be able to find it then. Lets get the puck dropped already. Only 13 more days until opening night.
Forwards: A bit Different.
Curadeau, Patrosso, Schrock
Leo, PC Buddy, OC
Ward, Naurato, Fletcher
Legualt
My guess is the first set.

I dont know if I put a one dimensional Legault in there before we see what Pawlowski has to offer...

Sun, 10/03/2010 - 10:57am
I agree.
But I am just guessing on a couple of things.
a) Legault
b) Naurato v. Schrock on which line they will play...my hunch is this: Naurato and Petrosso playing together before are familiar with one another.....and Ward and Schrock played together in College. I think that is how it will end-up.
c) Tyler Fletcher.....he has size, and in all accounts I have read and seen is tough, hustles, and has put up some points previously. You can't teach size, and the Komets definitely need it.
I have to believe Rodger winds up starting the season on IR....we'll see how things shake out.
Honestly, it looks like there might be 6 or 7 guys fighting it out for 1 or 2 spots. One spot being last player on the 3rd line and the other spot as an extra skater/bruiser.
Hit Somebody!!!

One thing you can count on in pre-season games...
There will be some fights. You will see Legault and Pawlowski both looking for dance partners. I think Fletcher will be throwing some bodies out there and will fight too.
I can't wait.

Dayton has 3 AHL camp-cuts in their camp.
I think Dayton will be a very much improved team. Not a push over this year.
Evansville is going to be good too.
Bloomington, they will add players over the next couple of weeks that will improve them.
Quad City.....not sure yet.

Dayton's AHL camp cuts don't impress me much.....
What I couldnt find on thier roster was any protection for thier players at all.... They have some big D-men; but looking at thier stats, none with a nasty streak... Looks like they will have a camp full of hard workers again...

I went over to the K's office a little earlier today to pick up my season tickets. I was fortunate enough to bump into David Franke as he was leaving for the media luncheon.
He told me that "all 25 players are in town or will be in town by tomorrow afternoon".
I knew that Cescon and Reiter had been released from their respective AHL camps, and I can tell from the above comments that Petrosso and Schrock had too, but I wasn't sure about Curadeau.
Needless to say, it's good to have everyone in camp.
However, I can't help feeling that we need one more sniper. Comparing the departures from last years squad with the additions to this years squad make me a little nervous that we may be starting the season a little short statistically.
I'm not sure where the Komets are with the salary cap ( I know that they want to have leeway in order to give themselves some wiggle room during the season ). But, does anyome else find the CHL salary cap rules a litle confusing with all the "exceptions" ?

Much more confusing than the structure of the IHL... you know.. "do what you want, sign who you want, win the cup"... that salary cap format was much easier to follow.

Forgot something....a note to Mitebite.
Mitebite, from reading the comments the last couple of days ( from both local blogs) it seems your feelings got hurt a little bit by the criticism you may have taken by bloggers who have reacted to your " upcoming announcements".
Personally I have found your information to be pretty credible. However, I would think you can understand the frustration of others as they are being teased with a bit of info that they passionately are longing to hear.
Maybe I can suggest something that provides some insight to the info while protecting your sources. Instead of saying, "Big signing coming", why not say something like "Komets seriously talking to a large physical defenseman", or "Komets maybe about to add a high scoring forward"? This is one way to relay some info without giving away to much.
Just a suggestion.

Here is a video from Day 2 at Lake Eries Training camp... If you hit play you will see Curadeau at about the 18 second mark skating down the ice in a drill and taking a shot on goal, then again at about the 1:36 mark... He's wearing #26
