I'm guessing you've heard by now the NHL wants to put the Rangers and Red Wings together as the last event held in Yankee Stadium. I gotta admit I kind of agree with this sentiment. All of which means it will probably happen since the money will win out over tradition.

more hating on hockey...and I believe that Wrigley is better than yankee stadium
Yeah, Wrigley, or as it will be known, the Carson Pirie Scott dome.
I don't know if I'd call it hating. Imagine if just before the Montreal Forum closed they'd have held a basketball game? Wouldn't that just have felt wrong? Now having said that, I don't remember what the last event was in the coliseum before it was renovated. Why not hold the hockey game at Giants Stadium?
How about have the game at Memorial Stadium before the Wizards move to Harrison Square?!?! Or fill one of the giant potholes that I'm sure will be somewhere in town by then?
Just joking.....Having an outdoor game at Yankee Stadium would be interesting, but if it were at either Wrigley or Soldier Field in Chicago I would want to be there!
Now Soldier Field would be really cool! I'll bet the goalie could come up with a cool C mask.
Fun with numbers, someone joked somewhere else about port huron playing in front of 3 sell outs in ft wayne so i looked at some numbers.
in 29 home dates they have played in front of 36,550 fans.
in 7 dates at the coliseum they have played in front of 60,274.

in 30 home games flint has drawn 68,777.
in 4 dates at the coliseum they have played in front of 27,908, they have 4 more trips to ft wayne, projected total 57,000.

sorry, couldn't sleep.
I'm a Yankees fan and I like the idea of an NHL game being played at Yankee Stadium. Why not? A possible game being played there didn't surprise me at all with it being the last season for the Yankees to be playing there. Oh course all anti-Yankee fans aren't going to like this idea. Or just about any NHL fan who doesn't get to watch their team play in an outdoor game. Chicago will get their chance, why not let Yankee Stadium get their chance before its torn down. There is a lot of history in that stadium. And I'm excited I get to go there this summer.
Final Regular season standings:
Fort Wayne
Kalamazoo
Port Huron
Muskegon
Flint
Bloomington
Kzoo's defense with the added offense will propel them to #2, if Port Huron had more of an offensive punch they would be #2, but they don't so they will stay right there at #3, i gave the edge to Muskegon for 4th place over Flint, Flint has an uphill battle -- with 9 owners and turmoil -- not to mention their tough remaining schedule. Bloomington just lacks the offensive punch to get out of the cellar.

Or he could wear a Bears knit cap with the C over the goalie mask.
That works for me. Burgee, I thought I was the one here who needed to get a life, but that's some interesting stuff. Thanks.
im a yankee fan too! the stadium has never been baseball only, so a hockey game would just cemment the history!
Too bad Skate isn't still around. I know he'd have my back on this one! Crumudgons unite!
skate would want the game at comisky park with jim piersall dropping the first puck.
I don't quite understand what you mean by your money comment unless it refers to what all Yankee haters say about the Yankees and money.
If this wasn't the Yankees last year to be at that stadium, then I wouldn't see the NHL definitely going there and making a big deal about it.
I don't remember anybody on here saying anything about money.
From your post....
All of which means it will probably happen since the money will win out over tradition.
Ah, now I see said the blind man. I meant the Yankees will take the money over the tradition which I think is a shame. At least some things in the world shouldn't be for sale, such as naming rights to Wrigley Field or the AC War Memorial Coliseum. I do think baseball is hurting because of the disparity of money in the game, but the Yankees are just playing by the rules.
Oh ok, I understand what you mean by that now. Thanks for clearing it up. =)
