You found that one interesting too JM?
Love how they slipped that one in on us. So much for getting tickets for friends so they can sit in the same timezone.
Maybe next year they take that minimal perk away too???
Let the complaining begin, I guess.

No, they waited to slip it in the week of training camp when you have positive thoughts in your mind.. it'll blow over..
Sorry, but those seats are terrible. I'll have to find people I don't like to give my exchange tix to.
They give free (Buy one get one) Marathon tickets away in a better area than STH's.. Interesting.

I'll take 'em JM.
Your kidding, right? 600 level? There goes the extra games I get to see.
JungleMonkey
Fri, 10/01/2010 - 6:57am
The people I give them to will just get in with the 600 level ticket and then move and sit in better seats. It would have been wiser to put a limit on exchanges... the problem was the corporate sponsors that never used their tix then exchanged them for an entire section of the coliseum. The exchange nights are always low attendance games anyway. I don't see the necessity in this.

I hope the Komets re-think this decision. Many people I have spoke to about this program have remarked what a terrific thing it is for the K's to offer the unused tickets as a means to attract potential fans. I'm not sure I would want to sit up in the 600 section. (If so I would have bought my tickets there).
I do understand that sometimes when you try to exchange your tickets the seats you would like are gone. The responsibility lies with the st holder to think ahead.
Many times a sth wants to sit as near as possible with the persons the tickets were given to ( friends, customers, etc.). This new rule not only blocks that attempt but I would suggest it may even retard the effort of giving the tickets away.
Too bad. The best way to advertise and encourage people to come back is to provide an experience that cultivates more attendance. I'm not sure how this does that.
On another note, the fact that the K's had this program going was another enticement to lure more people into buying season tickets. The fact that the tickets would not go to waste was a benefit.
Here's hoping the Komets reconsider this decision.

The Tin Caps do this, except for if the night you go to exchange the tickets, the section they put the exchange tickets into is full, then you have to pay the difference for a higher-priced ticket section, even if it's a cheaper seat than your season ticket seat. Reason #1 why I did not renew my Tin Caps season tickets this year.

Well I personally already will not be able to attend as many games as I have in the past. They now will be stamping child tickets so an adult cannot get in using them. So there plan will lose them money. I thought something was better than nothing!

I showed up to buy student tickets for my younger brother in high school, who was in school that day, and was denied because i didnt have his student id....tickect office said "the hockey club wants us to start checking ids"...so thats 4 less tickets to the home opener and 1 less season ticket next year...awe boo Frankes, your greediness is going to cost you money in the long run....i'd re-think some of these decisions...

I am a STH and I bought an extra ticket for Opening Night; paid the student price for it with no problems. However, I did buy the extra ticket on 09/16 before I went out of town.

You know I was teasin' ya JM....
And you guys are 100% right about this ticket exchange being a bunch of BS....I had a firefighter friend who gave away a ton of his on Facebook last season, and my son and I got 2 of them. They were in a nice area, certainly NOT the 600 level. He used a lot of the rest to take his family and friends of his kids out for a nice evening. Now, I know not all of the people trading the season tickets in are firefighters, but still....would dumping one of Fort Wayne's heroes up into the rafters be any way to treat the guy? I would be ashamed to treat him that way....

I don't have an issue with this at all, in the past when I traded in large groups of tickets I would get them in the 600 section, why - easy, I wanted the K's to make more money selling the higher priced tickets - why - because I want them to be successful, I enjoy my komet hockey.
The people I gave the tickets to in the 600 section were very appreciative, it typically is a group that otherwise would not attend a game together.

its only been the last few years that you could exchange tickets for anywhere. before that you had to get them in the upper arena so they are just going back to an old policy. and for you people who are upset cause you cant cheat the komets out of a full price ticket by using a childs ticket, that is fraud and helps to keep prices high. why do you deserve to get in cheaper than anyone else???

If I sit in row 9, why should my exchange tickets be in row 609? I could understand if they were traded in on New Years Eve, but these are for dud games anyway.
Whatever. I'll make people sit in their cars and listen to the game in the parking lot. They'll be appreciative.

Great to see my $20 is worth 6 bucks. The Marathon fillup card is a better deal, I'm sure that will be gone next year.
Its "fun" to read up on the perks that other teams give their STH's and then compare it to Fort Wayne
But it is what it is and the Komets are responsible for making hockey fun so what more could we possibly ask for?!

I do see both sides of this debate, to tell the truth...
On one side you have the STH's upset that thier unused tickets have to be redeemed in the upper deck seats that are valued well under the seats they sit in. Plus if you have a friend/s come to the game using those tickets it will take them 2 days and a Sherpa guide to meet up in between periods...
On the other side, you have the Komets saying first we discount your seats for buying up front, then you want to redeem unused tickets for regular priced seats close to where you sit during the season.
Komets STH perks arent that great to begin with and some STH's look at this announcement as another perk reduced or taken away by Komets management. I can understand that; but will say that if I buy tickets to the game (no longer being a STH...) and cannot go for whatever reason, those tickets are wasted unless I can find someone who wants to buy them off of me...
I can see both sides of the disscusion; but would have a hard time arguing for the Komets when the STH perks are soo light to begin with...
