Can you contact Kalamazoo and see what kind of ticket package they have for all the games against the Komets, maybe they can get that casino up there to throw in a free Buffet for each game. Maybe they can bring Picard back, that man was a genious

Picard was smart enough to leave the tanking IHL2 and join the ECHL.....years before the Komets did.

yep, real smart, so smart he lost his job.  KZoo would be $$$$$$$$ ahead if they would have stuck it out.

If there was a Darwin award list for hockey he would have made it.

He took his team to a better league. They've won their division 3 years in a row. They've played in the finals. 

He got fired because he wouldn't kiss-up to the fans that constantly had their hands out looking for access to the team or free merchandise. He didn't feel inclined to schmooze advertisers and corporate sponsors. It's part of his job, he wasn't good at it.

Let's not pretend that his judgment in moving the team to the ECHL was the reason he got fired. That's far from the truth. He and Johnston saw the writing on the wall that few others did. The people that did see what was going to happen and did nothing about it stood to gain personally. 

This long standing disgust of Pickard in Fort Wayne by a few people that deem themselves "close to" the Franke family is getting old. The man made a wise business decision that was deemed personal by people that it effected financially.

How long did he last on his own?  Those division titles and making it to the finals sure saved him......

The game itself is a small piece of the puzzle.

jungle monkey... you are so far off base on picard its not funny.. the only people assuming a rift between the komets and picard are the fans . i wrote in a post awhile back somewhat explaining the move to the echl by kalamazoo. it was only meant to be a stopping point until a new stadium downtown was built . then they were to move there with a franchise in the ontario hockey league.. the financing was to be by a local business man with lots of money and owning alot of property around the proposed site. coincidently , he also had an interest in a family member playing for the team. the franchise was not awarded and the deals fell thru. so, dont give picard to much credit. i dont think you have the facts straight
