Trying to fight through a three-game losing streak, the Fort Wayne Komets needed to play like a hungry team, and on Thanksgiving night they gorged on Wings.

Great Win Tonight Komets!!!
Reiter played great last night.
Just want to be honest, however. "Komets eat up Wings" as part of the thread headline is just not true. Kalamazoo thoroughly outplayed the Komets even though they were playing their fourth away game in a row including three at Orlando plus the trip. Except for the first five minutes of the game, the Komets were constantly chasing Kalamazoo all over the ice, while having little "say" in dictating the flow of the game. The amount of time Kalamazoo kept the puck in the Fort Wayne zone was clearly one-sided. Cycling the puck and constantly finding the trailer provided an avalanche in kalamazoo oportunities. (kalamazoo had 18 shots in the third period alone).
Reiter was the difference. Marino and Beauregard exited their scoring slumps. Rizk popped one home and new defenseman Gabe Guentzel had a goal and an assist. Komets came back from a 3-1 deficit and showed great courage in what could have been just another deflating game. I was also impressed with the play of Firman, Hoban, and Guentzel away from the puck.
A win is a win, and I'm grateful for the two points. Tonight may be a different story. If he is not injured , I believe that Martin will be in net for Kalamazoo. He is a great goaltender and seems to have the Komets number. I think Sims will start Effinger in goall tonight, ( I would start Reiter). Effinger has shown he can be just great. He has also shown he can be ordinary. Gave up six goals in last road start against Kalamazoo and five goals in last start at home vs. Evansville.
Even though they won, they need to play better "hockey" tonight.
