Let's all hope this works better than ripping Lasch and Caputi did. The obvious lack of offense was on full display without them. Relying on the remaining Norfolk guys for scoring can't be the strategy moving forward. Klotz isn't going to score every night.

you people are seriously throwing Schrock and Smith's name into the ring of people to cut? They have both shown more heart then anyone on this team. You all whined about Schrock not scoring, now he is and now you want him booted, seriously! Let's take a look a Brittain as an example...I am so sick of people saying he has "potential"...ok, if he has potential then why is he not showing that "potential", the guy cannot carry the puck in to the zone without losing it to the oppising team, when he does not have the puck, he is standing around, I have seen a turtle move it's feet more. Sure he has scored some goals, last nights goal was luck..and when he had the hat trick, it is real easy to score when the goalie is not in net.
I'd love to see half of you that complain so much strap on a pair of skates and do it better...you can't! It's a game, Yes we have been extremely lucky to have had alot of Championships over the last few years. It is frustrating to watch sometimes, but the players you are throwing under the bus have played together before and they won championships under the same systems that are in place right now. Makes me wonder who the real problem players are...
And like I said before many times on this blog, if you don't like how the team is playing, don't come. Simple as that!

Caputi and Lasch, while helpful are not the answers....you could observe their selfish play, lack of passing and frustration with this system.
Smith is not the problem....he is one of the few willing to go to the corners, mix things up with the big guys and always chases down the puck.
Nice to see the split of Henley and Maggio...seemed to be a nice change.
Giosa and Beuregaurd need to step it up or step out...maybe Schrock as well....Thorne did not fair much better last night.
Rizk was in to it and played well.
It really is not fun coming to the games this season...the teamwork is just not present.

I have never played hockey in my life but one thing I know is that I could hustle just like Schrock does...does Hustle win games last time i checked NO! Putting the puck in the net and keeping the opposition out of the net does. Get over it if your not putting the puck in the net go play in a beer league where you can fight all you want.
Allison I'd rather see a booblehead of Blake seems like he has more fire than the komets right now.

I for one am glad that they finally broke up the Henly/Maggio pairing. They were so bad at times that I think they should have been listed as assists on the opposing teams goals. Maggio also seems to let his temper get the best of him a lot. Hegarty did a nice job out there in my opinion.
I also agree with the above comment regarding Smith, he does work hard out there. I think we need to get back to putting a man in front of the net on offense, we dont seem to be doing that as much (if at all) like other teams that are scoring against us do. We always seem to try and score from the corners or from behind the net and it's not working.

Maybe it's time for a change in playing style and attitude....maybe it's time for a coaching change. Playing from the perimeter, shots mostly seen by the goalie, especially with no man in front, except for the rare exception lately of Smith and Marino (2 of the most unlikely guys who should be there)....should Sims go.....seems we really do have the talent....it cannot all be the players fault?
Put Chaulk out to pasture....let him gain coaching experience with another team and when he is ready or the Franke's are ready for him....bring him back.

" I think there are (free agent) players out there. If this doesn't turn around here shortly, we're going to have to really consider bringing in some new guys in or some trades, doing something to stir it up. Right now, I'm not happy with our effort at all." -Komets General Manager David Franke.
Well, guess what? It starts in the front office. So before you go all off on the players (or coach), you'd better look into the mirror also. Who put this team together?
As a season ticket holder, am I happy? No, not in the least. Prices went up, level of play went down. There are a lot of empty seats this year ( and getting worse, it seems ) which reduces income. Did we choose the affiliation? No again, so if it isn't a bright spot, tell me who is to blame?
The defense is terrible and could be totally replaced as far as I am concerned. The forwards pass way too much and too often without succeeding. Some forwards just can't score. Not a good thing when looking to turn things around. There are some forwards I wouldn't even think of moving ( Marino, Giosa, Brittain, Firman, Smith, Rizk, Beauregard ). The others... see ya later.
Goaltending has been the strength of this team ( although they have to be getting worn out from seeing so many shots).
From my seat it doesn't look like there are many trade options without hurting the team in the future. If you can find Europeans, that could be an option.
Let's just lay it on the line without mincing so many words. The defense stinks ( and currently is costing two "veteran" slots). Goal scoring is a past memory. The power play is atrocious. The passing is plain awful. (Did anyone notice last night that when Toledo entered the attacking zone they didn't try to make pretty plays? They just shot the puck). There are way too many penalties. The penalty kill gets wore out and the players are gassed for the rest of the game. No one wants to finish a check. The hockey is just bad, and many fans know when they see bad hockey. We are seeing it now and most aren't enjoying it.
So Mr. Franke, I enjoy your disappointment. It means you care. Just be careful on how you try to "fix" these problems. Sometimes change, just for the sake of change, can come back to haunt you.
I think a couple of forwards with skill could change this team. There are certainly two which could go. I think two stay at home defensemen would certainly help.
You've expressed your thoughts in the press. Once done, you have to do something. Otherwise no one will pay attention to you the next time. As a season ticket holder, I would only ask that you improve the team, not butcher it. There are strengths to the team, but right now they are getting covered up by the avalanche of negativity and sterile play ( especially at home).

Beauregard and Giosa are both suspect.....neither wishes to mix it up and their "sniper skills" seem to be non-existent......couple of new forwards would help and we appear to have room....defense should stay with changes noted prior.
Sims should be considered in part of this "shake-up" as well.
As season ticket holders it is not fun to go to the games this year, but maybe as fans we have been spoiled by always expecting a winner....everyone has down years.

Just a couple weeks ago, they absolutely smothered KZOO in front of the net and crushed them 7-3. What happened to that gameplan? Only bring it out for special occassions? That was a team effort. Not just some extraordinary play from a couple of players that are no longer on the team.

I haven't been to a game in awhile, but 2 out of 3 games I've been to now, the Komets just don't seem to have the team speed to compete. I think people that are throwing Shrock under the bus, don't understand everyone has a role on a team. His role has never been a 30 goal scorer. When the team needed to try to get something going, he threw his neck in there to get it going. He's not the problem.
I just find it hard to listen to a fan group that screams after Toledo moves the puck with their glove in their defensive zone. I don't know it all about hockey, but if you don't know the rules, please remain seated and just enjoy the game.
It's their first year in this league, and with that comes adjustments at all levels. I guess it's same old, same old on these boards. When the going is good, so are the comments. When the going is bad, the same people that praised Sims 2 years ago are trying to ride him out of town. With this day and age of messages boards, it's hard cheering for a team when their fans are negative at all times, regardless of the process.

Ironic, the last sentence in Jerad's last post, states the two things you learn first as a player. Pay attention to the people who have been where you are now, experience counts. And be sure your back is covered (we gotcha), we are loyal to our teammates.
The team has won some championships along the way. Has been very successful in a tough part of the hockey industry. The fans pay the freight and have every right to say whatever they want. They paid for that right.
However, these players are not making millions and they are not going to the next level. Caputi, Lasch doesn't matter. Sent to FW, punishment or second, third look. That is what affiliation means. I am not saying it is bad or good. The outcome depends on the atmosphere, the climate, the willingness to watch development. To see failure, triumph. See a player come through injury, bad times, slump. These are all the tribulations of minor league hockey.
Whether the fans can see their way clear to keep cheering for the guys who have won some championships and at the same time embrace the unknown of affiliation will help define for some what loyalty and experience really count for.
