I don't get it...The K's trade Thorne and Henley and get nothing in return?
Thorne is a young player who has alot of upside to his game, he has 5 goals in 20 games with Toledo, which would make him a 20 goal scorer at that pace. Not too bad for a guy we got nothing in return for.
Some people can say what they want about Henley, but at the end of the day he's played 45 games this year, has 10 pts, +6 rating and 145 PIMS...those stats are pretty decent compared the rest of our D's stats, let alone the experience he brings to the table. Is he still a top level defenseman in this league? Probably not, but he's still a pretty good player for a 2nd or 3rd line defense pairing. All we hear is how hard it is to find non- NHL / AHL contracted defencemen at this level. I think Henley is one of the better defenseman that falls into that category....and we let him go for cash, no player in return?
Knowing how and when to trade a player is not an easy decision, but from what I can see...we don't have a clue!
Maybe, just maybe...dealing Henley is the first step of bringing in an "impact" player. Hopefully they'll make a move that will prove me wrong....but I'm not holding my breath.
Question: What is the best trade the K's have made over the past 5 years?

I don't think Henley is a decent d-men numbers aren't everything ...I don't agree with not getting anything in return for him but cash but we are better without him on your roster Henley was a marked man with the officials in this league ..Henley was slow & got beat all the time that's where half of his penalty minutes came from it wasn't fighting and being a tough guy he once was ....

We got in return exactly what the Ks wanted. Getting a player for Henley would have created a numbers problem within a week or 2 plus it eases up the salary problem by not carrying 5 vets.asbjb I think management is pretty confident about 2 more players coming down and when Kishel comes off IR he may be the odd man out.
Thank you Brent, you were one of my favorites.
