I woke up to go get me a cold pop, and then i realized the Komets had fallen out of playoff contention. Then i said oh no its a losing streak. Aint nobody got time for that.
We now need to win as well as have the help from others.
Sitting on pins and needles the rest of the season.
I don't remember what its like to not make the playoffs.
Win or go home is now a non playoff slogan.
A bigger worry, what will Blakes do without hockey in April MAN.
Komet Warrior needs to rally the guys MAN.

I’m not an expert like our vaunted GM, but it’s been pretty dang obvious throughout the season that JM Rizk produces more when he’s not saddled with 3rd liners like Schrock & Firman. (Yes, I know a lot of people feel that Firman has been playing "like a beast" but I'm not seeing it. My 4'9" preteen daughter is tougher than him. Hit someone! Go to the net! Pay the price!)
Glad to see though that after only one practice where the team worked on the power play, that the coach is confident things are going to turn around. /sarcasm
Can’t believe Anaheim/Norfolk is still dealing with the K’s after all the bridges the Frankes have burnt with their “real Komets”/ “THEIR players” mentality. What did they think an affiliation WAS when they signed that agreement? Is Anaheim/Norfolk OBLIGATED to send players to the K’s? If not, if I were with the Anaheim brass, I’d hang up on David whenever he called begging for help.

Sometimes, I think we have players come in here and have a huge chip on their shoulder...they are mad because they got sent down to the lowly Komets so they don't play with the "potential" they are supposed to have. We have all seen it, it causes bad vibes in the locker room, it shows on the ice, its all about "I" and not about playing as a team, everyone has their own agenda...I would like to think that this is what the Frankes were referring to when they made those comments. It's hard to have a good player come in and you know they can produce goals or play great on defense...and when they get on the ice...you have no idea why they played at a higher level. Its frustrating as a fan to sit and watch these "potential" NHL players come in and not play to that level of hockey...so I know its frustrating to the ownership!
just my opinion though!

Good Luck Henley, it was a joy to see you play!

Janice, I do agree with your post about players coming here from Norfolk and playing as an "I" player and not a team player. Two guy that stand out that did play as team were Brittain and Schaus. I do think Hegarty has came to that mentally as well, but I would prefer us adding a defenseman and playing him as a forward. Norfolk wouldn't like that though.

ok let me get this straight!?! Now that Henley is gone, you think this team going to start winning? So its all Henley fault that we lost this weekend, if I recall and I have slept since this weekends games, but I do recall him not playing...and they still lost!
Again, as I previously stated, It takes a team to win and lose a game. Not one player. It was a joy to watch him play as a Komet, he is truly a class act, his comments about the trade are very classy but to trash him as a player is wrong. The Komets as a Team have not been stellar this season, so again, its not fair to single out one player.
But then again, my real name is Janice and I dont hide behind an anonymous name on here...You may not agree with my opinion but I sure as heck don't see all the negative nelly's on here strapping on a pair of skates and trying to see if they can do better...

Janice, I appreciate your feelings and thoughts. Just one problem for me, though, is when you go off on others who do not agree with your feelings when you call them "negative nelly's" and statements like "I don't see any of you putting on skates, etc".
You can make your points, most of which historically, I have agreed with. You don't need to go beyond those, especially with the tiny tirades. It won't change anyone's mind and cheapens your thoughts.
I, too, do not hide behind anonymous names on this blog. Usually I aim to use facts and logic with my posts and I get hammered a lot.
Now as far as Henley's trade. It is a fact that the K's had one too many veterans. Someone was bound to go. Some are wonderibg if there was a locker room problem. Was it Henley? Who knows? But he was earning a v'eteran salary and maybe we have not seen the end of the dealing yet.
I believe we need an impact scorer (maybe bought from another team) and a defenseman (maybe from Norfolk). The K's need help everywhere and need it fast. I 'm not sure that I buy into this belief that they are OK with the forwards they have, They are not happy with the goals scored nor the profits lost by the decline in attendence. A quick way to help their bottom line is a few playoff home games. Since hockey is there primary income, I think you will see more player moves to try to jump the two teams ahead of them to reach the playoffs.
Henley's salary savings will help with the salary cap. Maybe also will help find cap space for somebody else. Again, who knows?
I would like to see another player, a forward, released or given away. But now isn't the time to upset you more, Janice. You know who I mean, I'm sure.

Dear Mr. D. Franke, seriously you feel we need to "improve our goaltending".....maybe if Charlie had the chance to play more consistently he would now be in a better position to "play better" as you put it....really, with Marco only a so-so goalie and now we have a less than 50% goalie sent down from Norfolk (another retread sent to us for who knows what reason-played only 2 games with Norfolk)...unbelievable.
Henley, sorry as well to see you go...like your attitude, your presence on the ice and your leadership as well. I will be wearing my Henley jersey when you come back to play with Florida.
You have to wonder who else is going....again my thoughts are that Chaulk should have sat the remainder of this season as a coach, giving up his veteran position for Henley or someone else and Smith should be that full time captain...Chaulk is to slow as is Syro....seriously Al, you think they are performing well.....what games are you watching.
Best of luck K's and you to Bret H.

Suz............ in you response to our goalies. Charlie has had ample time to prove himself and has not establised himself yet as a top tier goalie in this league. He has played some unbelievable games but along with that he has had to many so so games and a few bad games. Top tier goalies dont have a lot of bad games. It's their consistency that puts them a step above the others. Marco has had a bad season. I honestly thought he would be our `# 1 GOALIE at the start of training camp based on what he did in Allen last year and he was # 5 goalie on Anaheim depth chart. That has changed for sure as im sure its been a year he would like to forget.
Anytime you can get a NHL goalie with as many games NHL games under his belt as Jeff De has you can bet he has gotten there because he has been cocsistant in the minors. If we get Reiter back Charlie will have to sit.Sorry to disappoint you.

Come on Who/Suz. Chaulk is one of the smartest players that ever played in ft. wayne. he can be at 70 Percent and out play anybody on this team. Our goaltending has been horrible other than Rieter. I like Smith but his leadership is lacking alot. If anybody will get this team turned around Chaulk will. Wake up. Enough said.

Other than Reiter, we have not had that goaltender that makes that big save to keep us in the game when the D screws up. We had that great goaltending the last few years thanks to Boucher.

I completely agree with most of what you all are saying here. One thing that I don't think should get a pass is our goaltending. The simple fact is, Kenny has played well under the exact same circumstances as the other two guys we had for most of the year, and those guys haven't gotten it done. They have numbers at the bottom of the league...we are a .500 team and plenty of goalies on sub .500 teams have better numbers. I do realize our defense is porous. But all three of our guys play behind the same team, and Kenny has been a difference maker, while the other two have not. There have been a lot of 6 goal-against games lately and that's just not good enough. Look, I'm not looking for shutouts or even 2 goals against. But 6 against isn't even giving the team a chance. It has to be around 3-4 for this team to have a chance at a win. Make a couple more saves a night and we are right back in the mix! There is the time-old saying that your best penalty killer is your goaltender. We need our goalies to step up and steal us a couple wins, just like D. Franke said, and Kenny had been doing.
