Better hope he does he has been unbelievable tonight should be 7-0
Really surprised that management has put up with this team play this year!! Outshot 22-8 no hustle they look as if they have quit.
Maybe if he is staying, Bob Chase can finally learn how to pronounce his last name. It isn't Cousin- ah like Bob always says. It's Cousin -no (like thopposite of "yes").
Maybe while we're at it, Bob can learn the Toledo nickname. He insists on calling them the Walleyes. It isn't Walleyes, it is the Toledo Walleye. Just like if you came back from a fishing trip you would not say "I caught twelve basses and fourteen perches" You'd say I caught twelve bass and fourteen perch..
Geez, you're the on air voice. You'd think someone would have pointed this out.
Trade deadline approaches. Time to make some moves. What do we have to lose?
Alan, its possible to walk into a music store and ask "to see all the Basses they have". Not "all the bass they have" Sorry could not resist. I think Robbie I might be a bit more Norm Crosby then Bob. It makes us talk back to the radio and correct Bob..... If you know who Norm is then you are at least as old as I am...
The Komets should hurry up and snag Irwin before another team in the ECHL beats us to him. He has put decent numbers in the ECHL and spent some time in the AHL and a couple NHL games under his belt.
Yes, RG2, I remember Norm Crosby. He butchered words and meanings in a real funny, entertaining way. He appeared on many, many variety shows. Just thinking of this reminds me of how many really good variety shows there were.
My age? Well, let's just say this,,,, I saw my first Komet game in 1961. I have had the pleasure of knowing many Komets during my life.
One of my favorite Bob Chase moments on the radio was a night the K's were at Bloomington. In the same broadsast he called the Prarie Thunder, 1) the Prarie Thunder, 2) the Thunder, 3) the Thundering Herd, and 4) the Buffaloes. He also seemed to have Danbury, Connecticut mixed up with Danville, Illinois also.
So yes, I'm getting old compared to most on here. (That's why I'm so appreciative of the new, larger CAPTCHA letters and numbers now being used)!!
Alan, Robbie and Bob both give us priceless stuff at times. Gotta laugh. Dont know if anyone watched the redwings game last night. Mike Emrick reminded everyone on NBC sports network that Friday was wear a hockey jersey day and he was excited to be "wearing his jersey of his favorite all time player, orange black and white jersey with the old Komets spaceman, with a C on the front # 11 and Thornson on the back for Len Thornson of the Fort Wayne Komets"
Thats great stuff!
RG2, that is a great story. I hope that somehow I will catch the NHL game that Mike Emrick calls.
Those kinds of things can only come from a city that has had hockey for 61 years. Emrick's choice of Lenny Thornson's hockey jersey is just another example of how Komet hockey has touched so many people.
Emrick's love for the Komets and his roots for broadcasting, add just another stitch to the fabric we call Komet hockey. God bless Bob Chase for being patient enough to take the time to help Emrick and encourage him.
Alan - Perfectly said.
