Tailing the Komets

Why the Komets are playing short-handed

I asked coach Al Sims why they've been playing one man short lately.

``We can't get guys in. We've called for players. It has to be an American player, and not many teams have American players still on their roster. We have five vets, so Henley had to sit. It's been a lot of reasons.''

Why an American player?

``Because of immigration. If a guys has a P1 he has to go back into Candada, and it's a lot of paperwork (and it takes a while). Most of the guys we've called up in the past are up already. It's one of those things. The guys are coming back next week with Hoban and Dunbar, and then it's just a matter of getting a defenseman.''

The Komets are talking with Norfolk about getting Nick Schaus back. He's just been a healthy scratch of late.

Schaus isn't one of "our guys" though. He's one of those halfway Norfolk guys that we call out. What's the Komets record since that episode?

Actually, I don't think Schaus is one of the guys, he came down here and played hard. I thought he really played well when he was here. It doesn't help that most teams have AHL players still. We have a goalie, defenseman, and a forward who isn't a top 6 gu

God forbid we should actually get back any players from Norfolk who actually scored when they were here during a time when the Komets were winning and competitive...

Brittain, Caputi, Lasch, Elkins, Guentzel, Schaus all scored and/or contributed to wins while they were here and yet the got the cold shoulder from fans and management because they were'nt "Our Guys"...  How are "our guys" doing right now?  How's the system now that there isnt enough players around who have the talent level equal to or better than the ECHL level?

Propaganda swallowed hook, line and sinker around here...

Can someone tell me where Candada is?

It's where Lasch and Caputi have been exiled to. They only use half the rink there.

And yet Caputi has been an assistant captain with Norfolk.....interesting.

Not sure what games you were all watching because I saw both in the defensive zone making plays quite often....  Syro hasnt made it into the defensive zone very often; but no one has a problem with that...interesting.

I see a lot of "our guys" with minuses for the season on the stats page....interesting.

Yet you often accuse me of having blinders on. Syro definitely blew it last night on the last goal.

Blake, are you telling me that you would rather deal with what we are seeing right now, than when we had players in here who could score and win games for us?

Syro not being in game shape doesnt excuse him from not getting back on defense and yet not one fan has called him out on it when they were more than ready to jump on talented guys like Caputi and lasch, (etc...).

Please, those two were DOGS. D.O.G.S and you can quote me, I don't care if you send it to them or whatever. THEY WERE DOGS. The crap they pulled in the locker room, on the ice, away from the ice. THEY WERE DOGS. I know a father of a local hockey player who when his son isn't skating hard, he'll yell that he's Caputiing it and the kid laughs because he knows exactly what his dad is talking about. And then he skates harder than they ever did here.

Those two thought they could big-time everyone and they had no clue. One day Caputi tried to big-the Komets assistant equipment manager Steve Wissman by telling him how to do his job like they did it in the show. Really? Wissman only has about 15 years of experience in the NHL.

No, I'd much rather have players who played hard and gave a darn even if they lost than deal with those two again. I'd much rather see players upset and hurting after a loss than those two partying and trying to figure out where they were going to go after a game -- minutes after the loss.

Yes, they have tremendous talent, by far the most of anyone we've seen this year, but not heart and are lacking a couple of other physical attributes necessary to play the game.  I'll let you figure out what those are.

Blake:
Would you refer to them as dogs if they are sent down? While I admire your honesty getting an interview with them or buds of them may be a bit of a challenge going forward.

I have a feeling if I posted something similar to what Blake did about several current and past Komets that the post would be removed...
